Can we have a positivity thread? I'm going through literal hell and I just feel like I need a place where there's no negativity at all, like a reprieve.

I'd like to kick it off by saying that today my boyfriends cat really helped me deal with my chronic pain and I also found some videos of women who had had surgery as a last resort for IC (which I've been diagnosed with) and they had great success and said their lives were significantly improved. ☺️ So even if things go as badly as they can go, everything will still be alright in the end.

My cat helps me feel better because I have to care for her & she can be quite funny to interact with.

I think pets can make people feel very positive.

Sharing a pic of mine!

My dog is great. He's a rescue crossbreed. I volunteered with his rescue. Being a large, stigmatised adult male cross his chances were low. As this is a positivity thread, I won't go into details. We knew he was perfect for us, a young working couple looking for a first dog. He was brought up for 3 years in a family home and when we gave him a short foster break he hardly knew me but rolled onto my lap on his back for tummy scratches. Now I'm pregnant and just know he is going to be the best big brother. He's about 6-7 and loves to play but if things get too boisterous he goes to bed and has a nap. He's a bit spoilt now and has me well trained, sulks a bit if he doesn't get enough treats or new toys. He really helps me with anxiety and physical support to help stand up from sitting on the floor and has even offered himself as a foot rest for a bit. He loves sitting on feet but I wanted them raised. Grin

Animals are a fantastic support
Even if it's a cat dog or fish it's someone to talk to and won't judge

Enjoyed the sunshine with my dog today. Taught him some pointless tricks and instagramed on his behalf. Was too hot to do much else today. I love spring with the blossom.

BiglyBadgers · 19/04/2018 19:20

My cats are the best! One in particular makes everything better and always come for a cuddle when I need him. Smile

I used to want to be a farmer, my mum (from a farming family) told me how hard it is physically and mentally and her family have moved away from sustainable farming because they couldn't make enough money. Now I dream of running an animal sanctuary one day.

Embracethechaos · 20/04/2018 06:28

Sorry, I've put a negative spin on this thread.

BiglyBadgers · 22/04/2018 12:47

Farming is hard. An animal sanctuary sounds lovely though. Smile

BiglyBadgers · 22/04/2018 16:21

I did some proper cleaning in the bathroom today. I am not a person who cleans when I get ill, so I'm feeling pretty positive about this. It was knackering though. I can't decide if I am exhausted from mental health stuff or just really unfit. Blush

Yourmentalhealthmatters2017 · 22/04/2018 18:28

Today I drove from west to south and back again.... on A roads but still,
this is a massive thing for me as I only drive from home to work lol!!

I did not succeed in tidying paperwork, bills and filling, instead I did some relaxing doodling and found a long term goals/dream list from a few years ago which I have made 6-8 steps towards now. All that's left is to focus more on my passion for animals. Very proud of what I've achieved. Pregnancy has knocked me but we did plan it and are building our future. I picked up some baby bottles of Facebook, got some free shoes thrown in that I've offered to a colleague with a toddler. I'm adjusting to my suddenly early maternity leave but am adjusting to having freetime and having heated but resolved arguments with my husband. I may have broken my resolution to not go on mumsnet, but I've put my phone down and not been as compulsive about checking various apps on my phone all day, so this is my relaxing reward as I was unable to talk to my mum, she was out enjoying her birthday weekend, I'll call her now I'm relaxed.

I am positive about the fact I am getting a pet! I feel unwell a lot of the time but knowing I’ll soon be getting my pet makes my happy!

Embracethechaos · 24/04/2018 17:38

That's great Fanta, what pet are you getting? I an feeling positive about our house move.

fantasmasgoria1 · 24/04/2018 17:41

A rabbit! Landlord won’t allow a cat but is fine with a bunny!

fantasmasgoria1 · 24/04/2018 17:45

Embrace I hope your house move goes amazingly!

Embracethechaos · 24/04/2018 19:03

We got a bearded dragon as our first pet as the landlord would allow a dog. Don't know much about rabbits, lots of my family are allergic.

fantasmasgoria1 · 24/04/2018 19:24

i wanted a furry pet that i can give at least some fuss to! I have always had cats but here I can’t! I have done my rabbit research and I feel it will be a good pet for me!

Embracethechaos · 24/04/2018 20:20

I've heard they are lovely pets, my lizard has a lot of charactor is affection too, enjoys being handled and lying on me on the sun but scaley so not exactly cuddly. Again, we've never had cats due to family allergies. I love all animals but have got to say I'm more of a dog person. Hope your rabbit settles in well. Grin

Embracethechaos · 24/04/2018 20:24

I've got quite a lot of rescue animals, mostly reptiles, one dog. I want to get a tortoise at some point, we've done lots of research but they live so long so a very long term

BiglyBadgers · 25/04/2018 12:06

A rabbit sounds lovely! How exciting for you Fanta Grin

I've done a really good chunk of reading for my assignment this morning, so I'm feel pretty positive about that. Think I will treat myself to a long bath this afternoon as a reward. I think I have some audible credits, so maybe a nice mindless audiobook to listen to while soaking.

Embracethechaos · 25/04/2018 18:06

I still need to get round to either downloading audible or the libraries audiobook loaning app. It's been on my to do list for months, I like the radio though...i cooked a nice sausage mash and onion gravey after a stressful day. I also had a successful shopping trip, did buy junk did buy a nice top and some growseries. I've never liked shopping so I'm going to try to stick to online shopping unless I'm going out anyway.

BiglyBadgers · 27/04/2018 13:44

Our local library audio book app is great. The selection is a bit patchy, but I have found some very enjoyable stuff on there and I've found some nice surprises. Definitely worth setting up!

fantasmasgoria1 · 30/04/2018 21:34

I got my beautiful baby rabbit today! I’m over the moon! He is absolutely beautiful!

tierraJ · 01/05/2018 10:37
