Dh going on a two week business trip - how the hell am I going to cope?

Can I just say first off, I do not want lone parents on here telling me to pull myself together (it happened once before )

Dh informed me last night that he is off on a 2 weeks business trip next week. As the mother of four children with no support anywhere nearby, this would be bad enough (usually by the time dh comes home in the evening, I am more than grateful for the opportunitly to share the parenting load, and at the weekends, dh does his fair share of childcare) but my situation is made 10 time worse by the fact that I live daily with the fear of emetophobia. I cannot give you a strong enough impression of how this phobia affects me. As dh is often away for anight or two, I am beginning to get things under control for those short trips, but for 2 weeks? I have been panicking all night just thinking about it.

I just can't function at all when this phobia kicks in. It doesn't take a vomiting episode for that to happen. Already this morning I have roared at the children as I am so tense.

What on earth am I going to do? I know there is no practical help out there, but I cannot function on Mumsnet without telling you this is what I am going through.

I am doing crap right now cod, but thanks for the vote of confidence. Yeah, the Paul McKenna CD had its moments of unintentional humour too, eg when he goes into the relaxing bit, his voice changes from super confident salesman mode to ridiculously slow and deep. Made it hard to concentrate on what he was saying as all I could think was how silly he sounded and how many takes had it taken him to get the voice just right. That is how my mind runs most of the time. I would prefer Derren Brown I think - he has something about him without the ludicrous voice changes.

Oh and I bought some Kalms today and took them and noticed no difference! I want you all to know I am trying out these ideas and not poo-pooing them.

Have you tried the large glass of wine yet?

foxinsocks · 01/03/2007 20:53

can you fit in any exercise DG? that often helps get rid of stress and may help your sleep too

DumbledoresGirl · 01/03/2007 20:56

KTeePee - I have always been teetotal regretably.

Foxinsocks - I did try to go for a walk this morning but I found it left me too much time to think. I am not an exercise for exercise's sake sort of girl, but I do believe in keeping busy and I certainly have a lot of stuff in the house and garden to get on with. Or does it have to be major cardiovascular stuff?

I don't know - but I think it's supposed to last at least 30 mins - I find swimming is great because it switches my mind off. If you can find some sort of exercise that can do that for you, it would probably be of some help.
