Used to have a thread like this and it died out.
This is for people struggling, either because of depression or AD side effects, to be very productive. Let's pat ourselves on the back for what we did manage to do, not what we didn't.

Today I worked at a food bank for two hours. Very busy.
Planned a lesson.
Will teach for two hours this evening.
Cooked healthy tea for family.
Tidied kitchen and put a wash on.

That's it really. Intended to go into town to run errands this afternoon but was too tired. Not a lot but not quite nothing either...

Anyone else?

I slept for 2hours in the end. Tried to go out for samples bit the world has gone mad with flooding so came home! Took kids to vote with Dh, they cyclrd/ skated and we got totally downed when it tipped down on way home so that was fun and spontaneous and cheered me up (although maybe sleep cheered me up!) . Made a delish dinner which was pleased with and even ds1 ate with only done whingeing and enjoyed the new thing he tasted (always a victory). Still not ordered L tyrosine. Taken my cod liver 2days now (capsule). No weird aftertaste which is great.

Welcome to thread. Anyone working, living abroad or with babies I salute you!! I was thinking today hope I was up 4-7x a night for 2 years (twins). Don't know how I did it. Seem to need so much sleep nowadays.

MerryMarigold · 23/06/2016 19:40

Blimey sorry for errors, on phone
Hope you got gist.

notagiraffe · 23/06/2016 22:57

Holy back pat for park outing. There's floods and rain here too, so barely been outside for two days. Voted, did a quick local grocery shop and then just sat in bed online all afternoon. But morning was productive, at least. Merry is the cod liver oil working?

Morning everyone....

I am really trying to be productive this morning as the house is a mess and it's upsetting me!
So far I've been to th pound shop and got a few cleaning bits, brought washing in, put another lot out and put bed sheets in the machine.

Interesting to read about the Vitamin D spray - I might try it when I have spare cash.

I was up half the night with DS4 who is suffering now with his chicken pox. I have given him Calpol and he's trying to go to sleep now. He must be tired too bless him Sad

TopazRocks · 24/06/2016 11:16

I failed to put on trainers as the sun was blazing down here!! Went to vote by a longer route so got some exercise, though less than planned as was wearing silly sandals. and I ate chocolate - so it's cancelled it out to a point. Also was on the losing side - 2nd ref and 2nd time on losing side in 2 years.

My sleep pattern very disturbed, probably a sign I am losing my marbles yet again Sad - so i might go soon and try for a wee snooze. Otherwise I am going to do very little today - dishes, a bit of laundry, some light Mumsnetting ... well doe to all who are doing much more!

notagiraffe · 24/06/2016 13:41

Girafe - hope your DC gets well soon. Chicken pox is miserable. Ask the chemist if they have any calamine aqueous cream. That and Piriton syrup stop the itching from being too bad. All bets are off when DC are ill. Back pat just for looking after them.

Topaz - back pat for walk - it's vitamin D too, as well as weight loss, and the Vit D increases energy a lot - chocolate can't cancel that out Grin.

Went for a walk this morning.
Then went into town - had eyebrows threaded - first time ever - in spirit of trying new stuff. Pleased with the result. Much better than when I pluck them.
Bought some tee shirts and vests for summer having chucked out a huge load of old ones that were too small in the declutter.
Home. Lunch in garden - salad and bread. Now absolutely shattered. Need a nap.

Hope to hoover this afternoon (really need to - carpets are a state) and to plan a summer school I'm running. If I manage both of those will be very pleased, even one would be good enough. But need a nap first.

I met a friend this morning and we went and did some pottery painting then had lunch.

Now sat here just chilling and worrying about Brexit (as if I have nothing else to worry about).

OhHolyFuck · 24/06/2016 14:10

lagiraffe try poxclin mousse and putting porridge oats in an old pair of tights in the bath (cut off the leg, put oats in, tie a knot and then put it in the bath and squeeze it - all the 'milk' comes out which is really soothing)

Soooo...the puppy came today, bit earlier than expected!

notagiraffe · 24/06/2016 14:23

Oh exciting. What kind?

TopazRocks · 24/06/2016 20:05

Chocolate good for iron too! I had lovely nap today, fell much better. Since I got up i've fixed a mistake on my knitting. Tomorrow is a new day.

Cute pup.

notagiraffe · 24/06/2016 21:44

Oh Holy how cute! If that doesn't lighten your mood, nothing could! What a lovely tummy!
I spent all afternoon asleep. Cooked a healthy-ish tea and then watched trashy telly. Ah well. Tomorrow is another day!

Hi Alfie - Welcome. Pottery sounds fun and productive.
Topaz - that's a positive attitude to chocolate.
Pats all round!

Here's what I did yesterday. It's being fired this week and I will lick it up next Momday. The green will be much brighter once it has been fired apparently

That's brilliant! Love the shape of the plate and the design. Massive back pat.

Alfie that's really pretty! 😃

notagiraffe · 25/06/2016 15:33

Finally hoovered today, having meant to do it every day for about two weeks but always felt too knackered as the hoover is such a heavy, growly thing that always keels over when I yank it.

Dropped charity bags at charity shop instead of leaving them in cupboard under stairs for months

Changing DCs bedding and cleaning their rooms while they're both out.
Cooking curry tonight.

That's it. Might go for a walk later if the weather holds.

morning all
sorry for dropping off the thread. I have been feeling so ill with what i think is very bad hayfever I have barely made it through the days!
welcome to all new folks
alfie I love that plate, so clever.
holy oh, such cute puppy. Good Luck!

well, yesterday I was feleing quite sorry for myself. I decided to take the dog for a walk, then I decided I would RUN! I put my trainers on and actually managed to go for a RUN!!! (well to be fair it was a very slow jog with about 50% walking in between but that doesnt matter) and I felt so good when I got back! (well slightly dead, but in a good way!)
A few years ago I did the couch to 5K and then over 2 years built up to running a half marathon. Since then things have gone downhill. I have put on about 6 stone (yes, 6 stone Shock) and currently am back to doing zero exercise. Interestingly my weight gain and dropping off of exercise coincides with my starting citalopram - which I hadn't really thought about before Hmm
I am going to try really hard to build up my running again. I'm not sure I will get back to the big distances I was doing when training for the half marathon, but would love to be able to do around 3 miles 3 times a week. That would definitely do me good. And I do find running so good for my mood.l just need to find the motivation to keep it going now!
sorry, I'm rambling. But I am very proud of myself for managing a run!!

today I need to do LOTS of washing.I may also venture to the shops as I got some money for my bday and am in need of some new clothes...

what has everyone else got planned today?

notagiraffe · 26/06/2016 08:38

Hi Unicorn nice to have you back. Was wondering where you'd got to (and Merry ) but didn't want to put any pressure eon anyone. Last thing anyone needs is a thread like this turning into a Should Do.

Great to hear you're running again! Massive back pat Citalopram definitely slows the body down. I'm sure of it. I put on 20lbs and used to walk sluggishly around at snail's pace. A friend whose been off it for a while has shrunk after being plump the whole time she was on it. Are you still on it?
I'm off for a 'run' (very slow jog) with a friend in a moment then out swimming later with DS for his physio. Exercise helps so much.

cutefluffyunicorn · 26/06/2016 09:27

giraffe I am now down to 10mg every 3rd day....I am reducing it VVV slowly! Doing Ok so far though. Enjoy your run. and yes, exercise really does help. I must remind myself of that A LOT .

cutefluffyunicorn · 26/06/2016 09:28

and yes...10mg every 3rd day is probably not really that helpful as it has a fairly short half life.. I probably just need to bite the bullet and stop it now....

Trickymoments · 26/06/2016 09:33

Well done for the run Unicorn. I really need to exercise but it always fall to the bottom of the list. Annoying when it's well known whata positive effect it can have on low mood. My mood is so low i just can't muster the motivation to get out & do it. What do people find works in terms of getting themselves motivated to exercise? I've tried having a routine but it never works as one week/day I'll feel ok to it another I won't,
Wish I could be a natural born exerciser but sadly not.

notagiraffe · 26/06/2016 10:45

Tricky getting into a routine is the hardest part. I rely on other people. I walk a friend's dog with her whenever she calls and go for a short jog with a friend once a week - though she often cancels, and take DS swimming once a week without fail as he has to do that for physio. So that's about three fixtures in the week of a bit of exercise. If I need to go into the next village (nearest bank, better supermarket and place where I volunteer, I always walk there up a hill for half an hour, and back too if not loaded with shopping. So instead of having a strict routine, I just try and tick off a certain number of exercise sessions.
One thing I do routinely though (bit sad Grin ) is squats and side lunges while I clean my teeth. That equals 40 squats and 40 lunges either side over morning and evening. It makes a massive difference. Can feel my legs are stronger and that makes exercise easier. It's easy to remember because I never forget to clean teeth morning and night, and it's easy to do - doesn't require loads of effort or willpower but does make a difference. I keep meaning to exercise while the kettle boils but forget. That would be a load of HIIT as the kettle's on all the time in our house!

notagiraffe · 26/06/2016 10:46

unicorn, when I first came off Citalopram I lost 4lb immediately. Didn't lose the rest but it was nice to lose that bit!

Trickymoments · 26/06/2016 10:57

That's a good idea Giraffe, perhaps I need to just try & fit it in where possible in daily life. I have gym membership but can just hardly ever find the energy to go.
