Hello Smile
I'm not trying too hard to be Mentally Normal until my sick note runs out.

Want to see my hat? Well, it's a baby hat.

Ime psychiatrists are brilliant. I really hope it goes ok for you next week. Have you got support?

SnowyMouse · 22/01/2015 20:24

Welcome chapuys Smile

Thanks mental

Nice hat, caulk ! Is it on circular needles/DPNs?

Enpoid · 22/01/2015 20:24

Hi Chapuys. You must feel a bit shaken.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 22/01/2015 20:25

Dpns (3.25). My poor academic housemate is very stressed so I'm helping her out with some knitting.

Looks like prodigious quantities of soy sauce are safe for me on MAOIs - BP is 91/48. Looks like I spent several years avoiding it for no good reason last time I took phenelzine Grin This makes life a little easier.

Did I know you before?

CaulkheadUpNorth · 22/01/2015 20:33

I was meant to be off before Christmas but I was too scared to tell my boss. I should have done though as I was coping as well as I thought and then got in trouble at work Hmm

Chap, It must be worrying for you but IMO the psychologist is another human being, and although she may be experienced and have helped a lot of people, she is still coming from her own perspective and isn't an arbiter of normality. I think you should take what she said seriously but if anything she's said isn't helpful you don't have to follow it.

I once had a psychotherapist decide it was deeply mentally abnormal of me to say that I felt we were all human beings and probably shared much of the same internal experience. Apparently this was mentally abnormal projection of myself onto other people and an expectation that everyone else is just like me Hmm Consequently nothing this person said to me turned out to be helpful as it was largely based on his misconstrued ideas about what my problems were. (I don't think everyone is just like me, BTW!)

On the other hand, your psychologist will have spoken to lots of people about their thoughts and behaviours and if some of what you experience is unusual I guess it's good to know that.

I don't know what I'm on about really. Smile Your work situation sounds tough; like it's more work to not go in that to go in Hmm What would they do if you were admitted to hospital for some reason and couldn't arrange all that stuff?

Enpoid · 22/01/2015 20:40

Oops, x-posted with you there - probably best just to ignore my previous post, then Grin

Mitchy1nge · 22/01/2015 20:41

wow, scary meat interesting chat and a new person here to advance the cause of the Mentally Normal - hi chapuys, sounds like you've had interesting day?

that was an Extraordinary Omelette - THREE eggs, red onion, broccoli, red pepper, 200g of feta Shock AND 30g of that mexicana cheddar type stuff, folded like a real omelette and full of delicious cheesy gloop ALL FOR ME

followed by 20g of 74% chocolate, a biscuit (fox's classic chocolate chip) and a vodka (15ml) and tonic (250ml)

helped to make a daily total of 1686 cals, not exactly heroic but pretty good (801 net but does anyone believe in net calories? had never heard of such a thing before MFP)

and made friend laugh :)

Ohhh, vodka and tonic. I've had NO BOOZE since SUNDAY. This might be some sort of record, although possibly not one I should be that proud of.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 22/01/2015 20:50

That sounds lovely and I'm very jealous.
I'm having a little cry because I'm so hungry, have no food in, too frightened to drive to Asda and will end up purging anyway

CaulkheadUpNorth · 22/01/2015 20:51

We do have alcohol in but my tolerance is so low it might not be my finest moment to have liquid calories instead.

Enpoid · 22/01/2015 20:53

I went to my meditation group today (arrived bang on time and they'd already gone in, which was slightly annoying, especially since I was hanging around freezing my bollocks off outside the building for fifteen minutes waiting for then to start the singing group the other day) which was tricky as I was struggling to sit still and couldn't relax for some reason - the simplicity of the colour-based guided meditation allowed for a lot of mental latitude and brain was being noisy and puppylike, and it turns out that the session I missed the week before due to clash with cinema care coordinator was a mindfulness session run by the woman who did the talk I went to last night. Then I went to the optician for an appointment to get contact lenses and luckily am just inside the prescription range for both types of lens I want, hurrah.

Had a bit of a row with DP earlier for various forgetfulness- and lateness-provoked reasons - I seem to be getting annoyed quite easily at the moment - but seem to have fixed it with judicious application of tunnocks snowballs.

When I have the lenses I can get back into driving again which I'm loath to do in glasses. Rah.

Flowers Caulk Sad

Mentalpsychiatrist · 22/01/2015 20:55

Caulk that all sounds rubbish.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 22/01/2015 20:57

Yes. Is Shit. It's obviously good that i know myself well enough, but is annoying and making me Very Sad.

Hooray for everyone else's good news or hugs and commiserations if that is needed instead.
Needy cat needs attention so he can be passed around if people want.

Enpoid · 22/01/2015 20:57

I would do vodka 50ml to tonic 200ml Blush

Enpoid · 22/01/2015 20:59

Would like a quick go on the cat if that's okay - my feet are freezing Wink

Mentalpsychiatrist · 22/01/2015 21:00

I like vodka neat and frozen best. My gin to tonic ratio is more like yours Enpo. I'm allowing myself gin at the weekend but it has to be with slimline tonic Sad
