I've been making nut butters for Chistmas presents but have had to stop at six jars as I have run out of grosgrain Christmas ribbon and they wouldn't look right without it Grin

Why do I always commit to doing this kind of thing during some kind of rush of enthusiasm?

For future reference as if anyone but me is insane enough to make their own nut butters the roasted walnut one came out very bitter and should probably have been made with presoaked nuts.

Mitchy1nge · 20/12/2014 17:59

they look wonderful! would like some almond butter please

a radiator just sort of fell off the wall in the house of house sitting a rare and beautiful baby animal and it has not been a simple thing to fix

have come home and eaten, within about 10 minutes, just over 2000 calories of falafel and houmous in an unrestrained eating spree with a high potential for painful consequences

Falafel and houmous sounds utterly lush and I would be unbearably jealous were DP not currently concocting some kind of buttery pistachio lamb korma which is causing me to salivate wildly.

I haven't bothered with almond butter this time as it comes or tasting exactly like the Meridian stuff you can buy in Tesco so it doesn't seem worth the effort Grin Have roasted some almonds and tossed them in paprika though.

How do radiators just fall off walls? Does it know the owner is away and decided to deliberately inflict nuisance on some poor hapless house sitter for shits and giggles?

Mitchy1nge · 20/12/2014 18:12

they said it has been wobbly for a while, not to worry, they are just happy the puppy is still alive etc

am really freaked out by modern houses, how are they made? Confused the wall is sort of like cardboard, had to buy special anchor screw things that somehow flare out once through the cardboard with little lugs on the outside of the cardboard because there is nothing solid in the wall, no wooden things, is totally hollow, to attach it to. they had a drill but no screwdriver. would drive anyone into the arms of a binge eating disorder.

Hollow wall fixings are kind of magical in their own special way.

What kind of puppy is it?

Mitchy1nge · 20/12/2014 18:19

is an extremely rare German breed, dates back to medieval times but only a few in the UK and not many elsewhere - hovawart, from near you I think?

he's adorable but has Intermittently Evil Disorder and just rips people to shreds

he's one of this lot, they are 9 weeks tomorrow: sites.google.com/site/freyahovawart/home

Mitchy1nge · 20/12/2014 18:20

oh no, those are from the first lot about three years ago

that is his mum anyway

Oh yes, maybe twenty/thirty miles?

Mitchy1nge · 20/12/2014 18:27

oh, then I was very near you the day before they were born and once or twice since!

Enpoid · 20/12/2014 18:32

That's kind of cool Grin

Enpoid · 20/12/2014 18:33

Although I suppose all this batch are out at homes now. Never mind, there's always the next litter I can kidnap.

Mitchy1nge · 20/12/2014 18:40

I don't know if I would want one, much as I will enjoy looking after this particular boy (until they can't afford the cost of rebuilding the house each time I stay) I'd take an adult, already trained and who doesn't eat people

OP posts:
Enpoid · 20/12/2014 18:42

I wouldn't worry; I'm always demolishing other peoples houses and possessions and they're usually very nice about it to my face.

Mitchy1nge · 20/12/2014 18:56

am trying to find pic of what happened to exquisite leather sofa in another house sitting episode when grandson visited and I was at the door dealing with a complicated delivery for about five minutes - it was just him and three pots of neon nail polish that must have been nearby (but I'd never seen them before), orange, lime and yellow, incredible coverage of sofa (and cream carpet)

I don't think I've ever done a house sitting job without something going wrong, I remember posting on here to identify a snake I'd found loose in a house

luckily I like all animals but they could have told me that in addition to the two horses, two evil goats, weimaraner and eight cats that there was a python and an unidentified brown snake free ranging round the house

Enpoid · 20/12/2014 19:00

How was the film, Caulk?

Enpoid · 20/12/2014 19:00

"Evil goats" is tautological.

Mitchy1nge · 20/12/2014 19:02

I want to agree but am pretty sure the moon was in capricorn when I was born and that might make them my spirit animal Confused

OP posts:
Enpoid · 20/12/2014 19:02

Snowy: no internet at all?!

Enpoid · 20/12/2014 19:03

I take it back, actually - I stroked some absolutely lovely-natured French angora(?) goats once which were not evil at all.

Mitchy1nge · 20/12/2014 19:06

they can be my spirit thing then although it could explain the aggression and ability to eat EVERYTHING

I've just seen Nativity 3: Dude where's my donkey. It is three hours I will never get back- do not subject yourselves to it.
