What should they do?

Well, if they start by not being patronising wankers and then follow it up with listening to you and believing what you're saying rather than trying to dismiss your feelings, that'd be a good start.

Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 21:45

also nails look nice

what there is of them

I'm not keen on being touched so I empathise.

Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 21:46

yes keema, we need a 'did you mean to be so invalidating' head tilt

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:47

Believing patients would be a good start Keema. I often suspect they start from a base neutral of "the patient lies" and wait for proof to the contrary.

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:48

By "they" I mean certain individuals working in MH; certainly not all of them. I've met some lovely people working in MH.

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:48

I mean them working, not me. I don't work in MH. Obviously.

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:51

BTW I think/hope I signed your petition, Keema. I didn't post on your petition thread because I promised myself I wouldn't get sucked back into posting on MN and would restrict myself to the MH forum this time. Got burnt too badly last time.

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 16/11/2014 21:59

Thanks Epno :)

No, it's not all of them. To be fair to our local crisis there are some lovely ones in the team. It's just unfortunate that the one I've had contact with most recently has been a cockwomble of the highest order who appears to be out to get one over on me after I complained that they were shit.

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 16/11/2014 22:00

Oh I remember Epno. You were soundly told to come onto MH and not sully the boards with your posts or something to that effect.

Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 22:01

I don't know if I signed the petition or not Confused can you link me keema?

although am following you on twitter so could find out for myself

OP posts:
KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 16/11/2014 22:07

Link is on this thread here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/petitions_noticeboard/2236244-AIBU-to-think-some-MNers-are-gits?

I'd just link to the petition, but I've already been deleted once for spamming.

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 16/11/2014 22:07

Have you told me who you are on twitter and I've rudely forgotten?

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 22:17

The HTT individuals I saw were all fine TBH. It was the communications where it all fell down. Not ringing back though they'd said they would, not turning up though they said they would, turning up at my house when I'd said I wouldn't be at home as I'd left for a walk to cope with them being late and two hours later had had no contact and discovered I was several miles from home Hmm

Quite a lot of language barrier, but also a lot of plain unreliability. And every time it happened, I was told, "lessons have been learned, going forward, and we realise it is important to you that we do what we say when we say we will". Right up to my last day with them they were saying this, when I rang up distressed and was told that although they were busy, someone would definitely call me back to arrange a visit that day. Nada.

Of course, at handover, "lessons have been learned", blah blah.

I got my discharge letter from them, yesterday, I think? The day before? And it reads a bit off to me.

Dear Firstname,

I am writing, as we agreed, to briefly confirm that your care was handed over to LocalMentalHealthTeam on Date. You were introduced to your care coordinator Firstname Lastname who will be continuing to support you in the Community.

Following your referral to HTT on Date you were visited at home on several occasions by HTT practitioners and also Dr Surname. You soon identified that you would rather be supported by LocalMentalHealthTeam and the handover was dutifully arranged.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Firstname Lastname

cc GP Dr Surname

Interesting to see who gets first names, surnames, titles etc. Grin

Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 22:18

ha gits, thanks for link

as for twitter you are following me too so is ok

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 22:19

Ha Keema, yeah, I remember that Grin I was posting a lot of rubbish, IIRC...

Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 22:21

that reminds me, did you have your meeting on Friday enpo nolastname?

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 22:24

I did - am happily on first name basis with care coordinator, too Grin I just went and cried at her for an hour, to be honest. It was okay, I suppose.

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 22:28

Does that letter sound to anyone else like it has undertones of "you soon rejected our offer of help, you insightless person, and we wash our hands of you" Grin They're right though - I was mystified by why I was being helped when I felt wonderful

Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 22:29

I must actually show up for an appointment tomorrow or it will be the third of its type in a row that I've missed. It is at an unhelpful time, 10:45, middle of Monday morning run. Grrrrrr.

OP posts:
Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 22:31

Letters always sound a bit oddly phrased. The 'an appointment has been made for you' was always a bit creepy but now they extend an invitation 'to attend an appointment' which is better.

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 22:31

Good luck Mitchy; I hope you make it.

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 22:33

Letters are particularly odd to read when they're essentially formalising something which has already been discussed (and the writer feels the need to point that out in every second sentence).

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 22:35

I particularly enjoy it when "an appointment has been made for you" - yesterday.

Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 22:36

(I don't really want to go, can someone do it for me?)
