Oh I had that, more on general wards than psychiatric ones though.

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 16/11/2014 21:11

Being woken up to be sent back to sleep again is a good one.

And there's no right or wrong to sleep is there. Either you're not get enough, or you're getting too much.

But we're going to keep druuuuuging youooooo until you move as slowly as a sluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuug.

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:11

I did have a lovely nurse once who could do a full set of physical obs on the hour including blood pressure without waking me up, though. They need to clone her and use her to replace the psychiatric nurses who can't do "still alive" obs without waking the entire dorm.

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 16/11/2014 21:12

And lets not forget distraction. can you find a way to distract yourself?

While you're lying awake in bed, or asleep to long or whatevs.

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:15

Glad to be off all the drugs completely TBH. I thought I needed phenelzine but it turns out the onset of immobile horrors was just caused by pregabalin. Huh. Side-effects. Who'd've thought it?

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:16

Ha. Distract yourself from being asleep Grin

Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 21:17

I found lots of ways to amuse distract myself in hospital

I liked wheeling heavily drugged patients outside into the courtyard when it was raining and see how long it took them to wake up

or park them outside the nurses' office and see how long it took a member of staff to look up from their dominos delivery and notice

or pumping their bed up really high

that was a bit unkind really

just had to say Grin at the lovely walk, magical tea and bath. Also I am realising magical cake which kindly given has added half a f**king stone to my arse. The more I get into the system, the more I think no-one has the answer.

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:19

It's over ten years since I set foot in a psychiatric hospital. Never abloodygain (unless I have to visit someone. And perhaps not even then. It took half an hour once for DP to convince them he was only visiting and to let him leave).

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:20

Someone told you to eat cake?!

They actually bloody Marie Twattynettied you?

Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 21:21

have also done a bit of cake today (some sort of roulade) it hasn't helped my mood at all

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:22

I had some stuff earlier that is the closest I get to cake - it's made from milled flaxseed, various nut flours and oils, and xanthan gum.

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:24

Oh, plus polyols and sweetener.

Under 4g net carbs per minimuffin.

Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 21:25

sounds even worse than cake

although this one was nice, sort of meringue and sponge and cream

just want to die go back to eating own normal foodstuffs tomorrow

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:29

I've just spent three days unable to eat more than a couple of mouthfuls at a time due to pregabalin-induced crying and immobile horrors. The "cake" was a "treat" to "celebrate".

Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 21:29

so what should a good home treatment crisis resolution service say or do?

I know I've liked lots of them in the past but can't remember why, they often wanted to do ridiculous things like sit together and watch a film

why is it harder to remember what was helpful?

OP posts:
Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 21:30

sorry

I'm sure it tasted better than it sounded!

shame about the pregabalin

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:32

Because what is helpful is different in every situation and with every person, and the very act of trying to identify blanket "helpful things to do/say/suggest" is what results in ludicrosities like telling a desperate and suicidal person to go for a nice warm bath.

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:33

Nothing to be sorry for. It ain't cake, that's for sure Grin

I actually did steal some of DP's real cake earlier but I didn't swallow

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:36

Not a shame. I'm glad awful side-effects appeared so soon to remind me why I don't take psychiatric drugs.

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:38

Meringue and sponge and cream sounds awesome. Worth going through quite a lot of spa tortures treatments.

Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 21:40

they're not trying to be helpful when they suggest a bath they just can't be bothered to do their job

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:41

The more I get into the system, the more I think no-one has the answer.

Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes.

EnpoTree · 16/11/2014 21:41

Perhaps they just think we smell? Hence the baths, I mean.

Mitchy1nge · 16/11/2014 21:42

SPA THING WAS SO BAD

SO BAD

SO HORRIBLY MISJUDGED

am glad she agreed and didn't insist on full 'experience'

I sort of liked having my knobbly shoulders kneaded though
