Background in brief - history of abuse and lengthy depression, self harm, lots of therapy in teens inc psych ward stay. Now suffering from CFS (also known as ME) and having CBT as part of the treatment.

So, we were talking about low self esteem, negative inner voice etc, and she suggested doing this to gradually build up evidence against these thoughts. I've done similar briefly in the past but having done a lot of psychological 'inner work' this year I feel ready to make it stick and I thought doing a thread on it would make me more likely to bother!

I'm off to watch telly with DH in a mo (Big Bang Theory 6 arrived yesterday :o) so won't be back til tomorrow but if anyone wants to do this with me then jump in! Could be stuff you've achieved, nice things that have happened etc.

Mine are:

  • Had my consultation over the phone for the first time - was worried it'd feel weird but I stuck with it and found it really helpful.
  • Contacted a friend to arrange a meet up while he's visiting home (I hardly ever initiate anything like that)
  • Wrote in my treatment journal the same day as my session, instead of leaving it for weeks!

:)

Ok away for a few days so here's today's

Had brief chat with nice friend who complimented me on my paintings

Made a good start on the packing

Weather improving

Millie2013 · 20/09/2013 17:59

Mine for today:

Spent some time with the horses v early this morning and it was lovely and peaceful!
Took LO out for a few hours, only to do a bit of shopping, but we enjoyed it and sang all the way home in the car
We've finally got hot water after not having any for a few days, so I'm going to chill in the bath, with a cheeky glass of wine

I hope you all have a lovely weekend :)

MajesticWhine · 20/09/2013 22:08

Ok, not very exciting, but here are my 3 for today.

  • took DD3 to soft play and met up with friends
  • had nice prawn stir fry for dinner
  • DD2, (whilst being utterly vile to me) seems to be a bit happier with new school
BeaWheesht · 20/09/2013 23:20

I made dd's birthday cake - I've never made anything other than a 'normal' cake before so am quite proud of myself.

Kids were well behaved.

I helped a friend out.

namechangeforareasonablereason · 21/09/2013 00:17

I am struggling to think of 3 things other than cuddled children (I have 3 so that's 3 things).

I tidied one bedroom
DH made me a lovely GnT somehow he always gets them just right
It's the weekend and I much prefer it when DCs are home

fuzzpig · 21/09/2013 08:32

Fell asleep really early last night so didn't get back here to post!

For yesterday:

  • spoke to DD's teacher about an issue (a boy being mean to her) and she invited me in straight away to talk about it properly, and she took it seriously and suggested lots of ideas to combat it.
  • took DCs to the park after school which is brave for me, they had a great time and DS actually held my hand near the roads as I asked him to.
  • managed to cook dinner despite the fact that DH was home by then (which normally automatically means he does it) - and the DCs actually ate loads of it (noodle/veg stir fry with leftover beef) despite complaints beforehand. And as DH had cut up the remains of the roast the day before it was much quicker, so he said he will always do that for me in the future.

  • Had a nice trip too own with ds1
  • Went for a run this morning
ipanemagirl16 · 21/09/2013 19:54

This is such a good idea! Thank you for sharing it Fuzzpig.

  1. Read lots of a book from the library that I'm really enjoying (Kings of Cool)
  2. Wrote a long letter to a good friend who has been having a tough time lately.
  3. Got together with my brother & his children & had a fun time at the park with them & my children.
run4it · 21/09/2013 20:03

Made really nice tea ( veggie Mexican wraps)
Had lovely walk in the park
He a lie in!

fuzzpig · 21/09/2013 20:32

Argh really struggling today. Had to cry off a family day out as my legs are agony (am paying for my busy day yesterday I guess) so have been mooching at home and not managed to get out at all.

Still. Must find 3 things!

  • DCs had a brilliant time at the event (DH still took them which gave me a rest) and came back raving about it. It was an open day at a bus depot (!) - they even went through a bus wash! I put a message straight on the company's FB page too, to say how great it was. And apparently they behaved beautifully all day too (the DCs, not the buses :o)
  • can't believe I keep forgetting this (guess it hasn't really sunk in yet) - the best thing of the day was, I got my DLA letter and they've actually awarded me it. It's going to take a huge pressure off financially (needless to say I'd rather be healthy and able to work more again but still - at least this money helps make up the shortfall since I reduced my hours) - and I've already started looking into other things it helps me access, like a bus pass, so I've been proactive basically by googling stuff but it still counts right?
  • I've written a load more things in the diary for the rest of 2013. Stuff like paydays to help us be a bit more organised financially, and also the release dates of all the movies we are looking forward to so we can plan cinema trips! (particularly Disney's Frozen, which is going to be the subject of our new tradition, as of last year - a whole family movie then Pizza Hut buffet). It's really nice to have lots of stuff to look forward to, and I also really like the fact that we've got so much better at being organised generally this year. It's the first year we've ever managed to keep a diary past, um, the second week in January!

Gosh I really do waffle on don't I sorry Blush

I actually do feel a bit happier for having written it though! Counting my blessings and all that :)

Reminds me of a lovely line from a song in the film White Christmas: "If you're worried, and you can't sleep, just count your blessings instead of sheep" :o

I dont htink you waffle I think its lovely

I finally bit the bullet and offered on a house in a new area to get a new start and it has been accepted
We went to visit some friends
I am beginning to be able to spend time away from laptop and with phone off (I watched a whole episode of TV without checking I have a real internet problem developed from a year of not leaving house without DH so that was a breakthrough)

BeaWheesht · 21/09/2013 22:00

Hi everyone.

Mine for today:

Dd had a lovely party
Got a couple of bargains
There were 20 kids at the party and it made me feel happy because we aren't from here and dd isn't in nursery so it's mainly my acquaintances / friends

MajesticWhine · 21/09/2013 22:09

Here's mine for today

  • Pleasant evening spent eating, drinking and chatting with family.
  • Took DDs out for a shopping trip and everyone seemed to have a good time.
  • Saw a coat in Banana Republic about a week ago that I quite liked. Saw it again today for 1/2 price and bought it Smile
spanky2 · 22/09/2013 17:03

Yesterday was a very bad day. Narcisstic mum sent postcard to my dcs and it was upsetting to be reminded that her and father don't love me.
had a sleep then able to function for early evening.
used skin care products on my face . looking after myself .
didn't over eat as I was upset .

BeaWheesht · 22/09/2013 22:25

Spanky - that sounds horrible well done for keeping going

My 3

It was a lovely day weather wise.
Had a day out with family and kids had a fab time.
Dh and I had some time to ourselves without rushing round like mad things after kids in bed.

ColouringInQueen · 23/09/2013 20:28

Tiler did a good job
Had a good tidy and clean of dcs room - looks nice
dcs went to bed well

fuzzpig · 23/09/2013 22:15

Oooops mine for yesterday (bit of a struggle as a rough day overall):

  • had fantastic dinner cooked by DH after DCs in bed - loads of veg, felt rather virtuous too
  • went through my ridiculously huge amazon wishlists and culled loads, feel a bit lighter in my head thanks to the digital decluttering! Also feel a little clearer about what we will be getting as Xmas presents.
  • wrote a funny thread that made people laugh :)

People are doing great. Spanky a huge well done for staying strong in the face of toxicity Thanks

And mine for today:

  • had a shower and actually shaves my legs for the first time in... erm... Blush
  • had a couple of compliments on my outfit. The top is actually just an old one of my mum's but it does look really good :)
  • friend at work gave me my poems back and had written a card saying how much she liked them and felt their emotions, and that she was really pleased I'd shared them with her.

Fuzzpig this is a lovely idea, can I join in? I am having a lot of stress at the moment at home and work and I think this will really help me.
my 3 things are:

  • I went to my yoga class and really enjoyed it
  • I was brave and called someone out on a sexist comment on FB
  • My boss allowed me to work from home tomorrow which will help a bit with the work stress I think
WafflyVersatile · 23/09/2013 22:30

Gosh, I'd struggle with this.

made progress with some work

sat in the lovely late afternoon sun - timed my outing perfectly for it!

had a lovely lemon drizzle orange cake.

FishfingersAreOK · 23/09/2013 22:38

Please can I join in? Recovered from several years of depression so would be great to keep positive thoughts prevalent.

  • Learnt something new - I knitted something for the first time ever (apart from 3inch square when I was 13)
  • Sorted out a big pile of paperwork
  • Had a lovely chat with my brilliant MIL
fuzzpig · 23/09/2013 23:10

The more the merrier! :) welcome Thanks
