Driving away

I don't know where to post this and don't know what to do. I'm sitting here crying again with my 5 week old dd2 and just know that the best thing I could do for both of my girls is to get in the car and drive. If dd2 ever goes to sleep that is what I must do. I won't be leaving them alone and it will break my heart but it's what will be best for them. They deserve so much better than the useless failure of a mother they have.

I don't know why I'm posting this. I guess to feel less alone

Pumblette2 is responding really well to the drugs which is such a relief although they don't know the cause yet. My parents (bless them) drove down to look after pumblette1 so mr p could come back in once pumblette1 was asleep. She has coped admirably but is confused and I think will find it hard without me and p2 in the morning.

I feel so guilty that I didn't realise she was poorly when this all started. In hindsight she wasn't just grumpy she was poorly. I know it was caught in time but the guilt is still there.

Fingers crossed I can post with continued good news in the morning. Hoping to get some sleep on the ward with her but not optimistic!

I was so tired when I had to stay in with dtd1 and her broken leg (that had happened the day before and we had thought was only a nasty bruise) that I fell asleep on the most uncomfortable sort of chair-bed thing in the world by her bed.

The symptoms you described on Wednesday night sounded exactly like baby with a bit of a bug in very hot weather, and I don't think I'd have belted into hospital until about the same point as you either.

Fingers crossed for P2 that she's much improved in the morning and perky.
As Magi says, remember to eat and drink yourself - you'll be even more exhausted if dehydrated and hungry.

Don't feel guilty - diagnosing (sp?) a wee one is so hard. Especially when it's hot & they are reacting to the heat.

Do not blame yourself - it's happened now & you just need to carry on.

I hope you get a bit of sleep tonight & please remember to eat & drink & even pop outside for ten mins or so - just for the break so you keep well for the girls.

Your parents are stars & lean on them all you need to - that's what they are there for.

We had a pretty good night considering but she is very distressed this morning and struggling to calm her. She's gone quiet now which is good and had an ok breast feed earlier. Fingers crossed the consultant has good news later.

I wish it would cool down. I'm sure this hot sticky weather makes off-colour children much worse. Update us when the consultant's done his rounds. And love to Pumblette 1 and her lovely grandparents and Mr Pumble, as well as to you two in hospital.

Her temperature is much better but she now has a viral rash too. They want to keep her in tonight as well. I know she's in the best place but wish I could take her home and I'm missing pumblette 1 so much.

Good news that her temp is down - that's great progress.

Please try to get outside for a wee bit today - just 10 minutes to get some air & have a break from the ward.

And don't forget to start a new thread before this one goes 'poof' any minute.

How're you both feeling now, has her rash started to go down yet? Glad to hear she's feeding a bit better, that's always a good sign.
We've got our fingers and toes crossed that she's better by the end of the day so they let you both home tomorrow.

Been thinking of you both while we were out this morning, stuck in there, it would be great if you could take her outside to get away from the ward for a few mins.

Sorry not to update sooner-been desperately trying to make sure both pumblettes get my love and attention!

Pumblette 2 and I are still in. She is so much better but the rash keeps spreading so thy want to keep an eye on it.

I got out today by taking pumblette 2 to her swimming lesson to try to maintain some semblance of normality and she was brilliant.

Hoping to be home with both my girls and mr p tomorrow so the pumbletons can be together again.

Pumble it truly sounds like what my darling mum calls 'the lurgy' - a sort of amorphous hot sticky rashy thing with sometimes a bit of being sick that very small children get, truly scary and always to be checked with a doctor, but ninety nine times out of the hundred turns out to be a nasty but not life-threatening virus.

Meanwhile... are you going for 'Not Driving Away' as next thread title, or Something Completely Different?

P2 v grumpy this morning abd rash still there but much more energy. Will update once we have seen doctor.

Have to wait for some more results but should get home today . Apparantly she is neutropenic so have to come back for more blood tests in a couple of weeks to check again.

P1 got out of bed and walked along the landing to mr P sobbing this morning because I wasn't there. Thankfully she's coming in v soon so I can give her a big big hug.
