Emetophobia - my worst nightmare

Ds1 goes to a school set on several different sites. Today one of the sites has been closed for deep cleaning due to norovirus wiping out hundreds of children this week. There are loads of siblings in ds1's building/class and 8 of his classmates were off today.

I am a single parent (really outing myself here!) and terrified of what feels completely inevitable right now. I was awake all night last night, waiting. Shall be doing the same again tonight.

You know, I feel like I have improved a lot with my emetophobia recently. I am no longer worried about the odd v. It's the awful, debilitating violence of noro that terrifies the life out of me.

The waiting is utter torture Sad

Been having stomach cramps for the past hour :(
Oh dear.
Really painful too.
Can't remember if I am due in or not either...just had coil out so it's anyone's guess...
Just taken a motillium just in case as I just ate dinner before it started.
I hate this :(

Badvocsanta · 21/12/2012 17:51

...oh and ds1s best friend was off yesterday and today from school. Ds1 looked so pale today :(
Don't know the mum week enough to phone and ask what's wrong!

So, last day of school. Ds1 didn't eat any lunch other than his yogurt and fell asleep on the sofa. He woke up to go for a wee and has gone to bed. He says he's tired and his tummy hurts. I'm panicking as dh is going out tonight :(

devilinside · 21/12/2012 18:44

Santa, My ds is exactly the same. Feeling sick and tummy ache since lunch time. He even told the TA which is not like him, so it must be true. However, he's eaten a satsuma and two biscuits. I'm sure he wouldn't be able to face food if it is noro (will have to cancel XMAS if it is, as no way could I handle family staying over if the virus is in the house)

Badvocsanta · 21/12/2012 18:50

The cramps didn't start til, after I had eaten.
I know when I have had it before I couldn't eat at all, so hoping its just ibs/period pain/anything else!!
:( :(

devilinside · 21/12/2012 19:07

Badvoc, DP always get stomach cramps with noro, but never, ever vomits. Plus you've taken Motilium so that should protect you should it come to the worse.

Marne · 21/12/2012 19:17

Sad not liking all your posts on children with tummy ache, i hope for your sakes its nothing.

Dd's are now home and my door is shut, both seem ok so far. Opened dd2's book bag to find a party invite for the new year at soft play (i never go to soft play in the winter because of the noro risk), i may have to turn the invite down (and not tell dd2 about it).

Badvoc- i often get stomach cramps all over before my period, mine is 2 weeks late this month, its the same every december (must be stress as i am not pg) but i keep getting stomach cramps Sad.

Hope all your dc's get through the next few days without coming down with anything and i hope you all have peaceful night tonight.

SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 21/12/2012 19:22

Fingers crossed its a cold. He is going to have a bowl of Cheerios now. He has asthma so is coughing with his cold which is what I'm hoping this is. Want to wrap them in cotton wool Xmas Sad

oaks56 · 21/12/2012 19:52

Sending you all good health vibes. My ds is home and fine so far. We are all on the waiting game now Sad

roundabout1 · 21/12/2012 20:07

I think kids are shattered this time of year, at school it is so busy that they are exhausted when they finished for the hols. Hopefully this explains the pale & tummy ached children, fingers crossed.

Badvocsanta · 21/12/2012 20:08

Thank you.
Feel deeply pathetic :(
Will take another motillium before bed Nd hope for the best...

On amber alert, rather than red. DS woke a couple of time in the night, complaining of tummy ache and feeling sick (gave him a bowl at one point) but he has scoffed breakfast this morning. He still complains every now and then. Surely noro wouldn't take this long to start Confused

Doesn't sound like noro Devil, in my expereance it comes on quite quick. Hopfully just a little tummy ache xxx

devilinside · 22/12/2012 15:56

Think it could be the start of this hideous swine flu type virus that's been sweeping the school Sad Feel bad as Xmas is not going to be much fun for him. he is in bed now, which is unheard of

roundabout1 · 22/12/2012 17:08

devil - hope he feels better soon, at least he has a few days to recover before Christmas.
I am feeling rotten witha really bad cold, shivery, achey etc etc am so behind with Christmas preparations, better than having noro though!

SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 22/12/2012 22:41

I need a handhold if anyone is around. Ds1 has a cold and is a bit under the weather. Now he says he feels sick. I'm freaking out, it's 3 nights before Xmas Xmas Sad

Bb I would be the same. He's asleep ATM but I'm not, I'm in bed listening out just in case. I hate this phobia as it completely takes over.

Why does this virus exist? Why do people ignore the quarantine rule? Why is it this I'm particularly scared of?

Haven't been on here for so long, had it in my head this was what made ds sick and it also made me feel normal but right now I'm really really fucked. dd has just been sick everywhere she was sleeping in the same bed as ds as they fell asleep watching a dvd and I only had a smidge of bleach left and no washing powder as asda delivery is booked for tomorrow evening. Have cleaned up sick with the last bit of bleach, washing up liquid and harpic toilet cleaner, put sheets in on a 90 even though no powder but now I'm so fucking upset christmas is ruined.

I blame my mum to (irrationally) step dad took his dd and her dc out and her ds was sick in car, my mum swore it was just car sick and not a bug blabla when she came to pick me and dc up (had to go works meeting so couldn't really refuse as I've only recently started) and I trusted her it was just car sick and step dads dd had cleaned it all up. Now my dd's poorly and I know ds will catch it being right next to her and breathing all those particles up and christmas is going to be shit.

My hands are hurting they're so dry and I can't even clean anymore as I don't have anything to clean with.
