Slightly off topic, but one thing that drives me nuts, that I think is totally unacceptable and smacks of arrogance is the practice some schools of therapy have towards cancelled sessions and fees. If you, the client, cancel FOR WHATEVER REASON AND WITH WHATEVER PERIOD OF NOTICE, you still have to pay. In full. But they, the therapist are allowed to cancel with no notice and without giving any reason.
I think that asymmetry shows a complete lack of respect to clients and basically indicates that the therapist's time is more valuable and important that the client's. It's infantalising and patronising.
I appreciate that therapists need to have continuity and predictability of income, but so does very professional who is self-employed in part or in whole, including hair dressers, beauticians, and other private healthcare professionals. But in no other case is there this policy.
I suppose getting it back on topic, I feel that any therapist who believes that this is an appropriate way t treat people has some kind of issue somewhere and I can't ever fully trust someone with my emotions who, as I perceive it, has this lack of regard for me.
Rant over. Sorry
