Cybergarden Open Day

Hi all.

We realised there were people on the MH threads asking what on earth the cybergarden was, and could they "join".

The short answer is, Yes, come in and have a Brew!

The cybergarden was started as a support thread for one person, and a bit of an escape from grim reality for those of us housebound one way or another. We just wanted somewhere peaceful and pleasant to relax and enjoy things we couldn't always do in real life.

It's generally a pretty positive place, although everyone needs a moan now and then. And we do lots of small, personal visualisations when the spirit moves us. It can get a bit whimsical, so if imaginary stuff makes your teeth itch we're probably not for you!

But if a large garden with companion animals and a sandpit for the children suits your needs, do come in and have a cuppa. The kettle's almost always on.

I'm going to keep any females and have an agreement with a local farm that they can keep and rehome any males.

Showtime · 15/07/2012 20:43

You've done well to write all that without crying or swearing, Rabbits, in fact well done for not taking bacon shears to DS's nitty head (or dropping him off to person who admires his hair, with suitable equipment).
Hope you're recovering from infection now, and glad your DD isn't worse for her horrible experience. It's probably too late now to sit outside in RL with Violet, but would probably do you both good.
Hope you have a peaceful evening and better day tomorrow.

My PA started today. It's so lovely to have been able to rest and still have a wonderful clean and tidy home to get up to.

I think he'd had an adult lay eggs and they'd hatched. It was pretty impressive for my first headlice experience.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble too greentrees I don't know your circumstances but I hope it can all be resolved. x

Showtime · 16/07/2012 16:12

Agreeing with Rabbits in hoping problems can be resolved and that greentrees will soon be feeling stronger and calmer. It's usually futuredream who fills up the snack-tin with wholesome goodies, but has not been able to do much lately (and no-one would want to eat any of my baking as never got the knack). Will transfer a few packets of my half-price Rocky biscuits, purchased recently in large quantity and definitely a bit naughty but recommended after nit-dealing etc.

Showtime · 18/07/2012 11:04

Just making tray of Brews, including plenty of wake-up espressos (and choc bix). Hope we all have good day in not-too-wet-garden.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 20/07/2012 19:06

They're here. The babies are here! We are all guinea pig mummas!

FOUR! FOUR! I can't believe she managed to get four of them in there, I have got to try and get a picture for you all because I am a melting broody mess.

Showtime · 20/07/2012 22:42

Congrats to Violet! Poor little love, bet she's exhausted - is this the first brood? I remember you said that being late could mean large family, so how rare is it to have so many? Would love to see photo, and thanks for news.

Hope other cybergardeners have had some good news recently too.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 20/07/2012 23:31

Try my profile now showtime and let me know if you can see anything.

Showtime · 21/07/2012 00:24

Can't reach Profile Rabbits, nothing happens apart from name repeated - shame about that. Is it possible to PM an attachment I wonder?(newbie here)

Showtime · 21/07/2012 00:55

Time for bed I'm afraid. Hope you and Violet and LOs have a peaceful night and all survive happily to morning.

Showtime · 21/07/2012 00:56

Congratulations to Violet! Sending her lots of virtual Thanks and alfalfa or whatever treats piggies like, I don't know them that well

Showtime · 21/07/2012 08:57

Hope all is well at GuineaPig Town with everyone snuffling happily as they feed this lovely morning.

Good to see you again MrsM, lovely idea to send flowers, and to greentrees who's been baking again.
Agree the calories are worrying; maybe you could donate most of baking and just eat a sample? (Have done this
and felt good after, not guilty (and fat).

Tray of Brew coming up, sorry no baking at present.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 21/07/2012 13:03

I will get us some individual pictures at some point so I can introduce you all personally. Having babies in the house is somehow soul lifting, even though I have masses of stress and terrible thinking, I'm grinning inside because watching four little piggies play together is just the sweetest thing.

Showtime · 21/07/2012 13:15

Thanks so much for sharing your tinies with us Rabbits, and am so pleased that all seem to be doing well. Would really love to see them, but is there anything I can do from here?

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 21/07/2012 13:49

Well, I need some name suggestions from you all. I am thinking of calling the runt of the litter Tuck, he's white and has like a little Friar Tuck hairline between his ears. Not sure of sexes so the names will need to be unisex, I am going to keep all of them.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 21/07/2012 15:28

Individual pictures of the babies are up now. Had a little bonding moment with each of them.

Showtime · 21/07/2012 20:35

Wonderful photos - you are clever to get them organised, and I'm not surprised you plan to keep them all. One of them is a definite Sandy or Goldie and I think I see a
Snowy/Zanthe/Vanilla one in there too; you already have Tuck so the last one might be Robin or Marian - or even a Greedy, Sleepy or Dopey as he/she evolves. Thank you so much for sharing your pets, and I hope they're not too time-consuming for you.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 24/07/2012 11:24

It's not the best news with the runt I am afraid. She has a genetic condition which is called "lethal white", which means she will have significant problems. Right now it looks like she is mostly blind, and probably partially deaf, and she is failing to thrive. I have taken on feeding her in the daytime, and leaving her with mum at night, and I will see how it goes. If she continues to fail to thrive, it might be kinder to have her PTS, but if my feeding works then I am prepared to put in the effort to raise her myself and care for her. After all, I am disabled myself, I am not just going to PTS without making sure she has a chance first. I would only do it if her life is insufferable or painful.

Showtime · 24/07/2012 12:53

Sorry to hear about littlest gpig, and think you're brave to take it on as rescue project - not sure I could. Hope rest and Violet are thriving and that DC will actually take on some responsibilities.

Thanks for the magic Brews upward, and hope you're having a good day. I've a friend due soon, but spoonless and it's way too hot and humid, so bed's calling me.
