Cybergarden Open Day

Hi all.

We realised there were people on the MH threads asking what on earth the cybergarden was, and could they "join".

The short answer is, Yes, come in and have a Brew!

The cybergarden was started as a support thread for one person, and a bit of an escape from grim reality for those of us housebound one way or another. We just wanted somewhere peaceful and pleasant to relax and enjoy things we couldn't always do in real life.

It's generally a pretty positive place, although everyone needs a moan now and then. And we do lots of small, personal visualisations when the spirit moves us. It can get a bit whimsical, so if imaginary stuff makes your teeth itch we're probably not for you!

But if a large garden with companion animals and a sandpit for the children suits your needs, do come in and have a cuppa. The kettle's almost always on.

Nothing to worry about with the counselling starting soon, MrsM, and you might even enjoy parts of it as it progresses - long time since I had any either, but I gather one's lucky to get it these days.

Has anyone ever done the Penquin trick in public, I wonder? Sounds really messy, but good luck this time.

Showtime · 06/07/2012 22:15

A quiet day in the cybergarden, beagle no doubt curled up in someone's bed again, as it's been too wet for his trampolining. Strange noises from bathroom throughout today, but just water and air moving up and down in pan, rather than flooding on floor. Hope other cybergardeners safe and dry at home (and that wet pets don't smell too bad).
Hope all's well with Mum-to-be Violet Cavy, and that LOs will arrive at the right time.

Heya, only just managed to stay out of hospital this weekend, got a kidney infection and was puking my guts up yesterday, including the antibiotic and anti-sickness tablet. One more loss like that and they would have had me on IV fluids, so I am glad I have kept down this morning's tablets.

Stress has taken it's toll a bit on my health, hopefully I am taking the right stuff though, getting good at recognising the symptoms now and getting meds early.

How's the garden? My RL one is flooded a bit... this one here looks sunshiney and bright. I might curl up on a hammock and sleep in the warmth. x

Showtime · 07/07/2012 17:04

Just lost my post here, sympathising with dreaded nausea and hoping it's now over, as Mumsnet decided to go off-air as I clicked to post.
Can't remember what I wrote now, except for reassurance about cybergarden not flooding or suffering plagues, blight or similar nasties which would require us to work hard, get blisters, curse or generally suffer for gardening as happens in RL, and only the good stuff happens here (apart from some of the animals helping themselves unofficially, of course, or dribbling a bit during a group hug, but nothing serious).

Sun's out again in RL garden, so will see what's left for a posy to decorate indoors.

MrsMuddyPuddles · 07/07/2012 21:13

Sorry about the lost post showtime I hate it when that happens!

Showtime · 07/07/2012 22:15

It was not a very nice dusk here in RL, too misty for me, and have forgotten to check weather forecast, which is probably for more rain.

Do help yourself to some of the hot chocolate usually available in summerhouse Mrs M, or wholesome snacks which people put into animal-proof tin nearby. It's ok to pick the flowers too, unlike some RL gardens, and I don't think I've seen any weeds lurking in here....

Showtime · 09/07/2012 21:42

Hope you're feeling better now Rabbits, and that Violet's pregnancy is progressing well. Is there an ETA yet?

MrsMuddyPuddles · 09/07/2012 23:32

mmm, hot chocolate. thanks!

I should make another batch of treats for the animals to enjoy.

Thanks

People are enjoying the treats, thankyou Mrs.M, apart from various animals. All beagles tend to put on weight, being greedy of course, and I was surprised at recent news that chocolate is not good for dogs. We always bought doggy-chocolates for ours, as well as sharing treats when small, but as I remember, house-rabbit only got toast crusts, which he used to beg for at breakfast.

A miserable, wet morning here, but hope everyone's feeling well enough to enjoy the day, and it is indeed exciting to think about the gp babies, greentrees. One of the good things about the cybergarden is that people without animals in RL can enjoy them here, without the responsibilities, cost and mess of course, and thanks to people who post news.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 11/07/2012 08:11

No babies yet, she's thoroughly miserable looking. The more they are having the longer the gestation I believe, so it looks like it may be three in there.

I am off to hospital today to have a line fitted, need intravenous antibiotics for this infection that won't shift. Well, I will be if I have enough money for the bus ticket.

Showtime · 11/07/2012 09:56

Best wishes for necessary procedure, Rabbits, hope all goes well. Am sending Financial Fairy to have a look in pockets, down back of sofa, in "everything-bowl" etc. to find any spare cash.

Thanks for news of Violet. Having no experience of gps, had immediate vision of endless supply of babies arriving after long gestation, but three sounds manageable.

Have something from breakfast tray before leaving: I usually make plenty of coffee Brews, and other original cybergardeners make wholesome snacks when sufficient spoons are available.

Showtime · 11/07/2012 10:01

Have just checked photos, Rabbits, and Financial Fairy is on my personal file here, along with two strange diagrams I can't shift which are actually spare keys which someone was wanting, so ignore.

Oh yes, always loved flapjacks, so many thanks. (breaks off bit for beagle, who's recently taught himself to beg, and finds our animal-proof tin at back of cupboard).
Glad you're feeling better, greentrees. Boating friend presently in Turkey sent me the Fairy; original has moving "snow" effect which is in gold, even better, and I thought of using it as photo of Showtime - who is not very beautiful.

Good grief *greentrees", that was a surprise! Am very grateful for kind words, and wish there were more spoons available for more helping.

Beautiful, sunny day here, so hope all cybergardeners stay dry. Off to check RL garden, prob. flooded.

MrsMuddyPuddles · 12/07/2012 10:01

Cyber baking is never naughty :) That's the joy of it! Ditto cyber drinks

What's everyone else's drink this morning? I'm trying to drink less caffeine these days because it DOES have an effect on my anxiety :(

Showtime · 12/07/2012 22:09

Caffeine does indeed have an effect MrsM, which is why I'm limited to two most days, although many thanks for finding me today's last one. My DB who suffers from depression etc. no longer drinks "proper" coffee for this reason, and we're both being sensible (most days) having more fruit juice and actually feeling the benefit.

Has your counselling course started yet, Mrs.M?

MrsMuddyPuddles · 13/07/2012 07:16

yeah, I know that feeling.

just tired today, not enough sleep.

Still, there's lots of Brew in the cybergarden :)

Showtime · 13/07/2012 10:14

Being short of sleep is horrible - can you take a half-hour out with alarm on? True, there's everything you need in this garden, Mrs.M, but on the difficult mornings I have one of the pain-killer-plus-caffeine tablets, just to prevent me dozing off etc. and can recommend one now and again.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 15/07/2012 01:41

Heya. Had a rough few days with me being sick, and then sadly my daughter telling me she had been touched by one of the other kids at nursery, doctor confirmed some injury and now I've got social services checking things out too.

On top of everything else since my ex came and took all of the furniture, then my DS catching a killer dose of headlice, then me getting really sick, and now this with my DD, I am hoping that's me for a little while because I am exhausted by it. Part of me thinks I would have been better off accepting the hospital admission, but I try so hard to stay home for at least some normality.

Still no babies, I didn't think it was possible but Mama Pig is even bigger. Impending cuteness is keeping me going, as well as little victories like getting my free bus pass and having my PA sign her contracts to start next week.

Hoping you are all better than I am, certainly much better behaved with caffeine anyways.

Here's some hot chocolates with all the works for you all.

Showtime · 15/07/2012 13:13

Glug glug, slurp slurp oh lovely, I do enjoy chocolate, in fact, there's little I eat in sweet line which is not chocolate, so thanks very much Rabbits.
Sorry you've had such a bad time - it would be difficult for someone physically well, so I'm glad you'll soon have help with daily problems. Can't believe your DH has left his DC without furniture, that's really mean, whatever is happening between you, and hope he comes to senses soon. Awful about your DD too, and just hope she's not too upset (thinking maybe too young to understand?).
SS will no doubt be checking safety of other child involved, so hope it's soon sorted. And headlice on top!
Must be tempting to turn up at the ward, but you're safer at home these days, according to friend's consultant.

Violet's probably very fed up, so hope something happens soon, and not at an inconvenient time. Do you have a few homes organised?

Here's wishing you a peaceful weekend.Brewcheers.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 15/07/2012 13:38

They aren't his, so in his word "they aren't my responsibility". That's fine, I can cope. Coping is something I am good at.

DD is absolutely fine, it was just the pain that upset her and she's much better there now after a couple of days healing. I think it is pretty much me that was mostly upset given my past experience and just my general state at the moment.

Yeah, headlice... over fifty of the buggers out of one head! I cringed so much, and it was right at that point where I'd gotten through a day of furniture being removed, gone to my mums to get some bits to borrow in the meantime, visited a house to look at furniture, and then got back exhausted to be confronted with a head of lice. So then I had an evening of going over and over a screaming child's head (boy has long curly hair I hate but his father wants him to keep), then a day shopping to replace small bits and pieces around the home, and fetching more stuff from my mums, then more nit combing).

Then I get a call basically saying you need to go into hospital because I have an unusual kidney infection that needs IV antibiotics, persuade them to put a midline in and treat me at home, then get home from the hospital and as I was putting DD to bed, I noticed she was sore. Cue more stuff like phonecalls, doctors visits, school visits, social worker visits, nurse visits to fill me full of antibiotics that make me puke.

It's been basically horrendous. But I am strong, I am getting through to the other side now. I won't let it beat me down, the reason I stay strong is for my kids, and if I can do it while I am knocked down with an infection that should hospitalise me, then I can do it any damned time, lol.

So Violet Watch continues, she gets wider and grumpier by the minute. Thinks she needs a visit to the garden with some fresh sweet grass in the sunlight with birds tweeting in the trees and a nice soft spot to relax on. And I'll join her.
