Here's a new thread for us.

OP posts:
shodatin · 16/04/2012 10:13

so glad that HF's self-actualisation is going well Merivel
(although not at all sure what this is Confused) and uncertain that beagle would be up for group psychotherapy, although generally very pro groups).
Congratulations on winning another Battle of the Objects too, both computer crash and DH's favourite sweater. Do you ever leave notes in safe places, ie "Blue marle sweater on last wardrobe hanger", tastefully arranged right at front of bottom drawer where other special clothes are in A Safe Place? Probably not, as have only adopted this recently in absent-minded old age.
Agree that music reproduction on TV is very poor, but am actually getting fed-up with everything Titanic.
Many thanks for Brews, and previously-provided healthy snacks (still in secure tin, which was found in front of fire near an animal blanket but sealed top still untouched.)

Merivel · 16/04/2012 13:43

Self-actualisation is just about fulfilling your potential , sorry shodatin ://www.simplypsychology.org/carl-rogers.htmland I can't think of a temperament less suited to such reflection & examination than the beagle < energetic hound still trying to open snack tin >

Thank you so much for idea of noting down Safe Places of clothes -in a chained book, of course . Ah, now all I need to do is keep a notebbook on a rope around my neck so I can copy them down before forgetting them

I think most people are fed up of Titanic fever by now , but Southampton has a huge place in my heart so I'm really interested - most of the crew came from there in those hard times . It is an awful shame about TV concert sound - I think sound engineers / producers don't always attend to the basics nowadays ... but you all know your stuff , whereas I only speculate irritabl>

I started to noisily open patio door earlier when I saw a full-grown fox curled up sleeping in sunny garden spot just like a cat ! He looked straight at me then went back to sleep- you know how quickly foxes usually run off ... met n-d neighbour & she knows which fox it must be , an older "gent" who used to live at end of her garden .

< Mr Fox brings upward mouthful of bluebells , with great admiration for her courage >

lunchtime Brews < tries rustling up cyberbuffet again >

Merivel · 16/04/2012 13:45

oops , sorry - not exactly a vital link in any case
www.simplypsychology.org/carl-rogers.html
Hope we all feel bearably Ok this afternoon , & get a spot of sunshine to warm us

Nilgiri · 16/04/2012 16:23

Not just any spot of sunshine: I actually did an errand in town and then sat outside at a cafe. And thought of you all and hoped you were having reasonable days.

Lying down now to recover, but I wanted to share my slice of blue sky and chocolate cake. And Brew.

Upwardandonward · 16/04/2012 21:02

Brew Brew Brew Brew

I'm hoping the new meds are working better for me.

Been thinking of you all even if I haven't been posting.

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 16/04/2012 21:07

Grin Fantastic to see you, Upward. That's wonderful if the meds are doing the trick.

Mmm, Brew. Thank you.

Nilgiri · 16/04/2012 22:20

Watching New York Dolls right now on BBC2, Sound of the 70s!

shodatin · 16/04/2012 22:23

Good to hear from you, upward, and really hope new meds are working. You deserve medal for patience, and hope the HCPs have also congratulated you - had no idea it would take so long to get medication right. Hope you're feeling more like yourself, and have been able to find ways to amuse yourself while stuck on the ward.
Thank you for remembering the Brew.

Thank you for posting too, Nilgiri, and so glad to know you were able to get out in the sun today. Weather was good here too, much better than forecast, so here's hoping you'll be able to sit outside again soon.

I wonder what HF thinks about sharing the garden with Mr Fox? Sounds almost tame, that he could just close his eyes again, knowing you were not going to harm him. I wonder if you live in a good area for wildlife, or if you're just more observant than usual, Merivel, but it's good to hear about all the local animals.

Nilgiri · 17/04/2012 00:30

Grin at beagles' penchant for groups, if not therapy. Have long been convinced HF has fully realised her potential - and probably those of people around her. Has Mr Fox has come under her influence, perhaps?

Am pleased to hear more techniques for remembering where stuff is. I've been managing with a pencil tied to notepad, pinned to the noticeboard - so then all I have to do is get to the noticeboard without forgetting what I want to write...

Merivel, any chance you found my brown scarf with DH's best jumper? Have ransacked this place without luck.

And shodatin if you've only left your keys in the door once, you're ahead of the game. Heaven knows how I haven't been burgled, the number of times mine have dangled overnight in full sight of the road.Shock Or does that explain the missing scarf, maybe...

So sorry you've been having computer problems and losing posts over the last few days, Merivel. Was I right to remember that you like New York Dolls - the show described them as the inventors of punk?

Nilgiri · 17/04/2012 00:41

Sleep well, all. Hope tomorrow also has some sunshine.

shodatin · 17/04/2012 00:59

Love notepad and pencil pinned to board Nilgiri, and have similar memory problem. Scarves sometimes get filed along with matching outfit in my wardrobe - could your brown one possibly be somewhere similar? You have indeed been lucky not to have visitors using doorkeys - don't really think they'd just take a scarf....

Time for bed, although have spent most of evening dormousing. Sleep well all.

shodatin · 17/04/2012 13:24

Morning/afternoon all, Hope everyone else had rain overnight and sunny morning, which happened here, and sun still shining, Just managed small lunch after trip to town/supermarket, which was a bit later than usual, but am otherwise OK now, and hope everyone else is feeling fit and confident about their spoon situation.
Brews all round, or of course, whatever is fancied on the special tray and from the well-fitting biscuit tin.

Merivel · 17/04/2012 14:34

Oh noooo at unexpected dormousing plus pc problems when there were all these lovely posts . Have just lost a long post saved in Notepad due to said PC problems so please forgive me if I get to my snoo neglected tasks before finishing rewriting !

So glad to see you ,upward , and that the new medication may be begining to help . < goaty toes > We're thinking of you here at all times! < HF brings upward mouthful of cherry blossom >

So pleased you've been able to eat a light lunch shodatin < & been on a small outing . Did have early violent downpour here & am amazed to have had sunshine afterwards . Thank you for Brew and snacks

Thank you for sharing your choc cake & blue sky , Nilgiri, how uplifting , & wish I'd seen - & for much-appreciated Dolls alert Grin Glad you enjoyed them . Yes, I'm the one who's fan , & Dh loved them from theirst time round ( & would agree with view that punk started in US )

Hope we all have a bit more dry weather before coming days of rain
< cybertadpoles consider growing legs & leaving home in nice moist climes >

Upwardandonward · 17/04/2012 18:04

Thanks for all the kind words :) I can go home soon, will be nice to get back to all of it, not least an actual computer.

Spoons and good wishes to all.

OP posts:
Merivel · 17/04/2012 21:00

Oh that's brilliant!!!!!!!!!!ThanksThanksWine Thank you for telling us

< moves summerhouse furniture to make a dancefloor > Forgot to say in response to your post yesterday , that we know you're often in cybergarden with us , sitting round the fire etc , when you can't post

< goes to start up jukebox and put up fairy lights >

shodatin · 17/04/2012 22:09

Wonderful news upward, and thanks for letting us know you'll soon be back home. Am so pleased for you!
Merivel, didn';t you have some fireworks tucked away for this type of celebration? Can't manage a dance, but will be happy to sit alongside and have a bit of a party.
(Beagle jumps around with tail wagging, not sure what it's about, but enjoying the celebration and happy that everyone's pleased to see upward again).

Merivel · 17/04/2012 23:05

I certainly have been saving up our c17th fireworks , shodatin < summons cybergardeners to wheel out & aim trebuchet >
Don't know whether upward can see links on her phone
www.featurepics.com/online/Firework-Display-742350.aspx
( am so pleased she'll be able to get back to gher i- pad )

I know you'll enjoy our party , shodatin- would you care to open a bottle of your special celebratory non-alcoholic champagne , or shall we save it till the big day itself ? Can we have a buffet entirely of petits fours , langues de chat & similar ?

< Mr cyberFox winces at sight of trebuchet & sound of merry gardeners, & flees altogether when beagle bounces into view >

Nilgiri · 18/04/2012 00:17

Weyhey! Oh that's marvellous news, Upward!

Best wishes from DP, too, Upward - he asks after you regularly.

shodatin · 18/04/2012 00:39

We can have whatever we like for the buffet, Merivel, and will bring plenty of the non-alcoholic champagne.
Amazing pictures of fireworks, but thinking of animals, could we just have the pretty ones please, without any loud bangs? >Own beagles used to bark at noisy ones to see 'em off, which created horrible noise I don't want to hear again, and could send upward off home <
Time for bed now, goodnight. (Covers Nilgiri with blanket, and beagle snuggles up near feet)

shodatin · 18/04/2012 10:55

Morning all, a misty, rain-due sort of morning, but hope we all have a good day, and am hoping that upward gets planned discharge day very soon.

shodatin · 18/04/2012 11:00

Absent-minded as ever - here's the usual tray of espresso and specials, complete with remains of Merivel's home-made cookies. Have organised fairies to see to Langues de chats and petits fours for Firework Celebration day, and stacked non-alcoholic champagne in corner of summer-house furthest from log-fire.

SerialKipper · 18/04/2012 13:43

Espresso and cookies! Mmm, thank you shodatin.

Will have to think of something to bring to Fireworks Celebration, with all this wonderful organising going on.

Merivel · 18/04/2012 13:53

Thank you for Brews, shodatin , with apologies yet again for missed goodnights& good mornings- keep toppling unepectedly into my mossy nest.

Oooooh, you always think of something exciting , Nilgiri < pressure >

So glad we can all clap along to the dancing . I recckon we could have fun by getting our agile cyberselves to practice some new dance moves for a really big party < pah at your jubilees and olympiads >

Thank you for asking our kind fairies to make the buffet , shodatin
< drools with anticipation >

Hope we'veall had a dry morning before the next downpours

< assures companion animls will definitely only use the pretty , quiet fireworks like the Catherine wheels I tested out last night>

shodatin · 18/04/2012 16:35

That You-tube film (and others) does look and sound like a proper party, and cyberself would no doubt dance myself slim again. I think I remember you have a Brazilian connection, so am hoping you'll be organising music as well as fireworks, as Brit parties are rarely musical and fun, relying too much on the booze. (Probably wildly unfair comment, as Carnival's been going here for more than fifty years, and at least some of the locals must have got the idea by now, but nothing like that where I live so haven't any experience).

Back to the British drizzle again, which started mid-morning here. Been waiting for it to stop, as have letter and card etc. to be posted to elderly friend (not doing very well with residential home's computer emailing system). Post is collected at 4p.m., so zipped letter into bag and self into winter anorak etc, grabbed stick and new umbrella and set out round the corner at about ten-to.
Rain was quiet until I got outside and realised it was really serious rain, pavements awash also part of the road, not fun when cars came along and created mini-tsunami, then came a gust of wind and blew fancy umbrella inside-out ( thought modern ones no longer did this, so surprised). It must be years since I was so wet, no wonder I get odd looks when I say I don't mind the weather as long as I can get warm at home - am only now starting to warm up again and so pleased I don't have to go out again without the car.

shodatin · 18/04/2012 16:39

Forgetful again: Merivel, have tried to send you small dragon but don't get confirmation of "sent" using my emergency system, so hope you have something other than a plain PM (also hope it's get-at-able and possible to choose size this way).
