Night shodatin and TIANC & sorry I missed you ... my memory is so sharp today that I thought I'd posted earlier on .

Hope snowmash is seeing signs of progress and getting as much support as she needs atm

kizzie, I always gawp at how much you manage day - to - day- I imagine you'd like to feel serene whilst doing it , though ! You're being too modest as usual , shodatin- you sound as though you have a great deal of self discipline .

Am fascinated TIANC* to hear how "external" techniques help your stress but I hope one day your subconscious or what have you lets its guard down for a moment & starts you on further paths towards distance yourself . I know exactly what you mean about the methods I use seeing to use circuitry which you're trying to avoid -I realise I'd have been better all these years not simply persevering with those methods Shock .
Wish you didn't have cause to use them this week. < positive , healing thoughts > (also to the peole who are causing problems , so they see some sense Sad)

I'll experiment with the type of methods you describe as this is very helpful for me to practice - your glass wall would be my absolute ideal , shodatin .

Very glad appointment was OK and garden undusted so far - I too didn't realise about bank holiday , bonus !

Hope all sleep well

shodatin · 27/05/2011 10:56

Good to have the reminder about a thought for the "other side" hob, which I find useful when remembered. My first "glass wall" experience happened after I'd said a quick "Help me please" prayer, so can't really claim credit, am just very glad I know about it and happy to pass it on, of course.

Hope things are going well for you this week TIANC, and for everyone else we know who visits garden.

That sand-bucket sounds marvellous, by the way - we should definitely have a spare for small visitors.

kizzie · 27/05/2011 11:47

No dogs and goldfish here - just a very spoilt cat :-)

What I meant about Shodatin - is how much I admire the way that you manage so well being on your own. I am hopeless on my own. Go from being very busy and achieving lots to kind of wandering around a bit lost. I do really really admire that ability to retain a sense of motivation and self. Its something I think I really need to work on - although i have got slightly better over the last few years.

its funny because in the evening I usually am on my own for long periods of time after DC go to bed because DH works in the evenings. i actually really enjoy this time and easily fill it 'pottering', reading, tv, phone calls.

But very different during the day.

Anyway - something else to add onto my 'to-do' list :-)

shodatin · 27/05/2011 12:18

Hi kizzie and thanks for explaining. I still think you're doing a difficult job well, and see how easy it is in the evenings! It's actually just getting used to it, and I'm sure you'd manage perfectly well if you had to, altho I'll admit to missing my husband often. Have always been happy to entertain myself which probably makes it easier for me, but sounds as if you do this too.
I remember about your cat, now you mention it, and other people's too.

snowmash · 27/05/2011 18:41

We had lots of rain yesterday; sun today.

I hope everyone is surviving...I'm still meandering through mental health complicated by the physical side effects (some organs aren't happy with the meds, and I had polypharmacy already),

I wish I could come on here more - I've been thinking of you all. Whilst I am getting better slowly, hospital is still a difficult place (people seem to leave once they get settled). I feel like I have been in here a long time.

Love to all.

ThisIsANiceCage · 27/05/2011 18:57

Good to see you! Have a Brew!

So sorry you're having side effects: I remember you were worried about exactly this. Got fingers crossed you'll be able to reduce your drug intake soon.

ThisIsANiceCage · 27/05/2011 19:11

So are people leaving just as you're getting to know them? Not much fun. It must be quite difficult coping with people in crisis around you, too. Sad

By the way, was listening to Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace the other day, and thinking of you liturgical music lovers. I wonder if any of you know it? It's a modern piece but uses a C15th French folk song, muezzin doing the Call to Prayer, and even stuff by Kipling. Works surprisingly well.

shodatin · 27/05/2011 20:30

Hello again snowmash, lovely to hear from you again, and we wish you could join us more often. We're only here for you, after all [big grin] Although I've met some interesting people here, apart from yourself.

You do seem much more relaxed, and yes, you have been in hospital a long time, so I guess the drugs are working, despite side-effects. Some of them are probably temporary, hope so anyway.

Have you found anything interesting to do while time passes and you get well?

shodatin · 27/05/2011 20:35

Hi TIANC, I've not heard that piece, but would certainly like to. I'm guessing it was on the radio, which I forget to switch on regularly.

ThisIsANiceCage · 27/05/2011 23:15

'Twas a CD, shodatin, crimble present from DP who'd heard it on Classic FM. He says it's still in their top 300, so extracts probably get played pretty often.

He's soooo chuffed that you guys have got me listening to music again, as he's being tentatively buying stuff for ages. It's a lean-to pile against the unread book mountain.Smile

Shattered today, tomorrow may go well or badly. Will come back and talk/read properly then or Sun.

Sleep well all.

shodatin · 28/05/2011 00:44

Thanks TIANC for info about music, will see what I can find. Was it all music you neglected? Don't reply if this is nosey, it's just that I stopped buying classical standards when widowed because of memories, and I do find music can be emotional enough. Pleased for you (and DP) anyway.

Hope you have a good rest tonight, and tomorrow will most probably go extremely well, as I'm sure you've done the homework and can communicate better than most (and the glass shield will be there if necessary),
Goodnight all, thanks for Brew and special thanks to snowmash and hob.

kizzie · 28/05/2011 16:41

Hi snowmash - so lovely to hear from you. Sorry about the side effects but Im glad things starting to settle down.

It must seem like such a long time for you but one day you'll be able to look back on it as just a short period in your whole life. I can understand how frustrating it must be to have everyone coming and going. Even with that though I hope youve met some nice people.

We all wish you could join us more often - but at least when you do you get treated like royalty. Its like the queen popping for a cuppa Grin.

Hopefully hear from you soon x

shodatin · 28/05/2011 17:24

Hello kizzie, it's exactly right what you said to snowmash, a bit special when we hear from her, but don't forget you're welcome here too, and other visitors we don't hear from very often who add news from the non-gardening world. Hope you have some good stuff planned for the holidays and your twins are looking forward to the weekend.

Thinking of TIANC too, with her stressful day today, and hoping all went well.

I was looking forward to being a bit idle, so was surprised when the Roof Men arrived at 8.30a.m. without warning. Still, it's now finished and for slightly less than my calculations so all's well and I do get tomorrow off after all.

kizzie · 28/05/2011 19:10

TIANC - hope your day has gone ok.

Glad your roof is all sorted shodatin - always good when something comes in under budget. (Rare though Smile)

Im on my own with the boys this weekend as DH away until v late monday night. Thats what started me thinking about being on my own (even though im not on my own really as boys here.)

We had a long list of things to do today and ticked all of them off so quite pleased with that. And I didnt get too anxious either at the prospect of the weekend ahead so all good Smile.

Classic FM is my 'guilty pleasure'. Guilty because I always suspect that I should be listening Radio 3 really Smile. I guess its because Im absolutely not a music expert and my favourites tend to be the really popular pieces Blush.

Anyway - Im going to have a nice long bath while boys watch the football.

Take Care everyone x

ThisIsANiceCage · 28/05/2011 21:53

Day went astonishingly well. Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and for helping me prepare for it.

Now gonna be ill for a few days, but vvv small price to pay.

Thank you thank you, lovely people.

shodatin · 28/05/2011 22:44

Glad to hear your day went well, TIANC but such a shame you're going to suffer for it by being unwell. Hope you're able to rest quietly tomorrow and Monday, meanwhile come and sit in this lovely steamer-chair with your feet up and have a Brew while congratulating yourself.

shodatin · 29/05/2011 00:40

Kizzie, I thought I'd posted something just after you, but probably forgotten to press send in one of my senior moments. Hope you had a lovely relaxing bath after completing long list (and no doubt all the stuff that doesn't go on lists, like feeding people and animal, keeping peace between same, soothing
feelings and supervising conduct etc). Tomorrow will probably be a satisfying day too.
Hope you continue enjoying whatever music pleases you, and without feeling guilty.
Also hope hob is alright as not posted today.
Goodnight all, sorry I can't stay awake.

shodatin · 29/05/2011 16:09

Hello people! Just to say I'm still here, in case snowmash or any other friends feel like dropping in, on what is now a beautiful day. Just been out to the postbox and to get some fresh air, after today's Skypeing and usual emails.
Living in a tourist area means most of us stay at home during Bank Holidays, as there's not actually enough space for locals (and their cars). Apart from some chatting earlier and one due later, am presently sewing a new top which I'd like to finish and wear soonest, so it's a good day here, and hope everyone else's having one.

madmouse · 29/05/2011 16:15

snowmash lovely to hear you say yo uare getting better slowly xx

remember if you need a parcel, a pastoral or just a friendly visit let me know

cityhobgoblin · 29/05/2011 21:21

Hi everyone - hi there shodatin , how satisfying to be making a new top yourself - what style is it ?. Learning dressingmaking has been high on my must do list for years Grin & I will get there in the end . Glad you've had a good day & the roofers have finished the job . Know what you mean about no room for the locals - not quite so bad here , but quite bustly .

Incredibly sorry to have been away all weekend but I had much more on than usual , & at rather short notice , so have been sleepy & "behind" again . Really missed chatting properly & checked the thread as always , though - was delighted , as we all were , to see snowmash , and sorry she can't post as often as she'd like , but we really enjoy it when she can .

It does feel a fairly long time you've been in there , even to us , snowmash, & it must be very stressful to have friends you've made leaving suddenly , & not knowing how they're progressing . You must have been so woried about the side effects , as well as in discomfort . Hope the doctors have been skilled in adjusting your medication & hope they have a touch of inspiration if any further tweaking is needed .

So happy to hear TIANCthe day went surprisingly well & hope the fact is buoying you up while you try to recover . I've learned (t?) a lot about techniques for stress from this thread.
How joyous that you can start to listen to some of the music DP has been getting for you , & sharing it with him , < sniff ..I've read great things about the Mass for Peace & have been meaning for ages to try & get hold of it , so thank you for your prompting me to do so .

Very well done kizzie , hope your achievement of long to - do list and manageable anxiety levels beforehand have boosted your confidence . Seems a brilliantly good sign that your progress with anxiety is continuing strongly & dh will be pleased when he gets home.

Good to see you madmouse and hope you get some family time tomorrow.

Had a bit of fun yesterday in town joining in another UK Uncut action , where we complained about the bailing out of the banks with taxpayers' money while the NHS is being given away by "occupying " 3 banks in what silly medical costumes we could cobble togethe . The staff were on the lookout so it was hard to get in but staff and police were very civil .

Hope all having a good flop in steamer chairs lemon balm BrewBrewBrewBrew

shodatin · 29/05/2011 22:25

Hello again hob, am glad you're OK. I saw a few seconds of UK Uncut on TV and thought of you, but of course would not recognise you and didn't like to ask. Glad you could do it, and hope you enjoyed it too - sounds like fun, and so pleased everyone was peacable.

My new top is an internet design, converting a cotton tee-shirt into a ruffled
bolero, because my lovely silk nightie with spaghetti straps is a bit cool plus straps slip, so new top is really practical and (I think) looks good in one colour. I'm not good enough to do proper dressmaking, but enjoy alterations.

shodatin · 30/05/2011 00:18

Cheers hob Brew but have to go to bed now so goodnight all.

ThisIsANiceCage · 30/05/2011 00:19

Better than expected today but still taking it easy, so just popping in quickly again. Sorry, I'll read properly in a few days.

hob THANK YOU for doing peaceful bank occupation! Wondered if you were there.

shodatin that sounds a ver' glam top from a tee-shirt!

cityhobgoblin · 30/05/2011 00:32

That sounds a gorgeous top shodatin and I feel very inspired now . Do you look at any particular web sites for ideas / designs , if you don't mind me asking ? I look for beginner's projects on the net but haven't yet seen a site I love . The Guardian has been running this type of feature ( in Life and Style , available online ) but readers have been rather critical so far.

Blush Thank you for thinking of me - it was great fun & our protest had a extra degree of truly cheesy silliness , & I enjoyed looking at the videos from all the different protests ... now we need some industrial action to make the point more seriously , says she showily. . . < stamp stamp >

Hope TIANC has been resting in comfort today & that we all sleep peacefully , especially snowmash , and that she has a good week to come .

cityhobgoblin · 30/05/2011 00:38

Aha TIANC , fab that you're a bit better than you'd expected , though I fear that isn't saying much , brave person - and thank you so much - beaming here .
