As promised, here's the new thread for us long fasters as the old one is nearly full.
Check in when you are able and let us know how you're doing!

Woke up really hungry this morning but i weighed in and am 1.5lbs down from yesterday morning so have had a big glass of water over the last 30 minutes and will treat myself to a cup of tea and a little milk at 9am and see if I can keep it going until 12ish.
I hoped I haven't killed the thread.....

Jollyjoy · 07/05/2025 10:26

Hello @126orbust, and everyone else, I haven’t been on because I haven’t been fasting. Struggled to get back in after Easter holidays and now I have tonsillitis so feeling pretty grim! Kindof fasting as eating isn’t comfortable ha. I’ve been away from the gym too and this week was supposed to be the reset. So hopefully I’ll get well and join you again next week. Well done on the fasts and losses. Hope everyone else doing ok.

126orbust · 07/05/2025 10:43

Good to hear from you @Jollyjoy but really sorry to hear about the tonsillitis - it is a horrid illness so give yourself a few days of resting as much as possible and eating anything that soothes you 🥰.
I am pushing through the next 90 minutes but counting down to 12.
I see a giant cup of tea and 6 oatcakes and tzatziki in my near future.

Flibbertyjibberty · 08/05/2025 06:39

@126orbustim still here and still fasting! Just haven’t had much to post about really - I tried to fully fast on bank holiday Monday but then caved and did OMAD because I did a nine-mile walk in the day and I was soooo hungry and lightheaded in the evening. Decided to listen to my body and eat! Did a full fast yesterday instead.

@Jollyjoy hope you feel better soon, that doesn’t sound fun. Fasting was definitely harder in the holidays, too much going on. But I like it more in the warmer weather as I’m not so cold. I still get really really cold hands but that’s helped by lots of cups of green tea and hot water.

still really miss earl grey tea though!! Five and a half months in… boo hoo!

Flibbertyjibberty · 08/05/2025 06:42

Has anyone here successfully given up sugar? I’m still working my way through the kids Easter eggs but I do feel quite tired a lot of the time, even after a good night’s sleep. I was listening to a podcast yesterday about how sugar is poison and stops your cells making energy so now I am wondering if it’s that. Going to stock up of some fruit today and have that after meals instead of chocolate!

126orbust · 08/05/2025 07:41

1lb down this morning so better than nothing.
Sugar is not so much of an issue for me @Flibbertyjibberty though I do eat some (probably more than I realise given it is in so many unexpected things).
My worst weakness is crisps and i can easily polish off a family sized bag with a few glasses of wine..
Since I started watching my weight, after my covid time giant body expansion, I have tried to think about what I am choosing to eat. So I leave the pack of crisps and instead have actual food like two cubes of cheese and two oatcakes or a banana.

FirstTimeFasters · 08/05/2025 08:37

Snacks are a bugger aren't they. Luckily my kids are mostly grown up so I just don't buy any - except I'm addicted to nuts now, at least they're healthier if loaded with calories.

Haven't done any fasting for various reasons except the usual 16/8 and the odd day of OMAD.

Hope going well for those doing this week, hopefully rejoin you next week.

Flibbertyjibberty · 08/05/2025 09:06

I do love crisps too, I’ve just got into a bad habit of finishing lunch and dinner with something sweet! Off to the shops to get some fruit today. Bananas and Greek yogurt might be a good replacement. Or cheese (mmmm cheese)

Jollyjoy · 08/05/2025 10:18

Thank you for the well wishes, I am a little better today. @Flibbertyjibberty, I discussed on the last thread that I once gave up sugar for 2 or 3yrs! Seems mad to me now but it was before I had kids and life was less stressful Grin. I think in some ways it was easier than moderation as it just became a way of life and I never entertained the idea of eating it. I had been on a retreat where food was cooked for me and there wasn’t any sugar, so it was easy to keep it going afterwards. And was definitely the healthiest time of my life! I was late 20s then.

I also would choose crisps and cheese over sugary things. But love both. And also expanded a lot during covid!

Flibbertyjibberty · 08/05/2025 15:19

@jollyjoy2 or 3 years?! Wow!! I can see how nothing might be easier than moderation though - no temptation to eat too much of it if you’re not eating it at all! I had some dates after lunch today and that was enough. No chocolate!

fastingaway · 08/05/2025 19:49

@126orbust@Flibbertyjibbertywell done keeping with the fasting @Jollyjoyhope you get better soon. I’m afraid I’ve not been able to fast due to loads of family stuff. Have guests visiting this week and next week so fasting is going to be difficult. It seems to be all or nothing for me and no fasting is happening here. I’m doing ok in the sugar mostly - although I do have it in terms of fruit and dark chocolate most days. Pls do keep posting as it’s keeping me encouraged to get back to it as soon as I can

126orbust · 09/05/2025 12:14

Thanks so much for the support on here as it really helps keep me going. Also on the solidarity on lockdown bulge and a crisp addiction and cheese oooooh cheese 😂
Not fasting today but have had a small healthy lunch and then DH and I are heading out for an hour and a half/two hour walk to keep things going with the scales.
Tried on three outfits yesterday for the graduation in July and they all fit though all would look better 7lbs lighter and with my going away outfit the zip on the skirt was very sticky and I cannot imagine sitting down comfortably in it so unless I want to stand up for the entire ceremony I better keep going!!
Good luck to all today on our quest to be the best version we can be healthwise.

Flibbertyjibberty · 11/05/2025 21:26

@126orbust I’ve got about 7lbs to lose too but it’s not budging! It’s been plain sailing till now so I wonder if I either need to accept this is the weight my body wants to be or chuck in another long fast each week (at the mo I fast Sunday night till Tuesday lunchtime then do 20:4 every other day). I’m just not sure I can do two long fasts a week! Doing one tomorrow though… is anyone else?

126orbust · 11/05/2025 22:12

I am doing one @Flibbertyjibberty and will need to after a lovely weekend, much of which we have spent in the garden with lots of great snacks and more than my fair share of cold white wine.
Closed the kitchen at 9pm so lets see how I go.
I will weigh in tomorrow as I do most days and if I'm up - which I will be - then I'll just have to pull it back again.

Flibbertyjibberty · 12/05/2025 09:30

@126orbust that does sound like a great weekend though! I love how this lifestyle lets you have days like that and not worry too much about them

126orbust · 12/05/2025 11:02

Up 2lbs which is to be expected, just need to knock them off again and continue the downward trend again.
This time next year I'll be 7 stone 😂

Flibbertyjibberty · 12/05/2025 13:52

Hopefully we all will be! My sense of smell goes wild when I’m fasting. I had to leave the office because of all the cooking smells but it’s not better outside. All I can smell is food!

126orbust · 18/05/2025 17:44

Off out for dinner shortly then planning a fast day tomorrow.
Since I checked in last time I shed my extra 2lbs, then another 1lb which was good.
I also shed a friend which I think was good too as I told her I was fasting then she showed up with cake and got annoyed when I wouldn't eat it.
She huffed off, after drinking the coffee I made for her and eating a slice of her cake, taking the rest of the cake with her. I left it for two days then blocked her. It's an ex work colleague who was always trying to feed us all and this is not the first disagreement we have had but it's the last 😂
Hope everyone's week has gone well and here's to another successful one.

fastingaway · 18/05/2025 20:59

After a bit of a hiatus I’m planning on trying a fast tomorrow. Going to aim for 12 hours initially and then from there build up 2hrs at a time and see how It goes. @126orbustsounds like you are well rid. Enjoy you dinner tonight and good luck for the fast. Hope everybody else is doing ok too.

126orbust · 18/05/2025 21:34

Thanks @fastingaway We shall be focused together.
Had a lovely dinner so am ready for the next 24/36/42hrs depending on how I feel.

Jollyjoy · 18/05/2025 22:28

Sorry about your friend, @126orbust, although sounds like you feel it’s for the best. Well done @fastingawaygetting back to it. Im still ill, have had a horrible virus for 2 weeks now and am still totally wiped. Slowly getting better but think unlikely I’ll fast this week, hopefully back to normal next week. Cheering you all on though!

126orbust · 18/05/2025 22:36

Thanks @Jollyjoy and sorry you are still feeling wiped. Far better to concentrate on getting better before thinking of fasting again.
Next week is another opportunity.

126orbust · 19/05/2025 21:20

Suddenly very hungry so am having a cup of tea with a little milk and a bath before bed. Hope your fast went well @fastingaway .

fastingaway · 19/05/2025 22:24

Sounds like a good plan @126orbusthope today went well and you have a restful night. Get well soon too @Jollyjoy
managed to fast today - helped to stay busy and also knowing that I had permission to break the fast in 2 hour intervals. Just over 25hours now and off to bed.

fastingaway · 20/05/2025 19:36

Managed to get in a 41 hour fast. Having been off fasting for last few weeks I really noticed the difference - I had more joint pain, swollen legs, general bloatedness.
