As promised, here's the new thread for us long fasters as the old one is nearly full.
Check in when you are able and let us know how you're doing!

@GaraMedouarwell done on the progress so far. enjoy the lovely events you have planned. I’m a firm believer that fasting needs to work around our lives and not the other way around. There will be plenty of time to get back to it.

fastingaway · 09/08/2025 11:14

@zanahoriasolidarity as I am trying to get back to it too. Summer plans seem to have blown my usual routine. Toying with the idea if I can do a longer fast next week hmm but will still do 2 hrs at a time. That approach has worked well for me in the past. Still haven’t broken my fast and may push through to a late lunch when we have plans.

fastingaway · 12/08/2025 22:23

I’ve managed a 47 hour fast so far and still going strong. Had olive brine a couple of times to keep me going. Planning on going through till tomorrow which will be the longest I have ever done.

@fastingaway - wow that’s amazing - I assume you’ve made it through til morning now - so that’ll be around 60 hours! I’ve fallen off ADF big time as I know I’m away on holiday but trying to get back in to IF today and tomorrow - waiting until noon for first meal for a bit of discipline !

IF sounds like a good idea@GaraMedouarbut don’t be too hard on yourself with holiday coming up. You will be able to get back to it once you are back- you’ve done it before and will be able to again.

I’ve only just gone over 60 hours as started the fast very late on Sunday night. Have dinner plans tonight so will need to break fast a couple of hours before that - maybe with an avocado so that digestion wakes up before dinner out. Don’t want any weird side effects at the restaurant

GaraMedouar · 13/08/2025 12:03

Oh gosh no! I’d agree a couple of hours before will be good to settle things. Enjoy your dinner tonight 😁

fastingaway · 13/08/2025 23:28

thanks @GaraMedouari can report that I did make it to 66 hours and managed to break fast and eat dinner out without incident. Glad I managed and will hope to do a 72 hours in the near future - great for autophagy. Lost just over 1.5kg but will see if it sticks. One observation I occasionally broke out into a sweat during the fast. It was obviously quite hot where we are but still the heat/sweat was quite sudden and didn’t feel it was due to
the weather. Will try and find if this is normal. I think I have to also do even more in terms of hydration. I was feeling continuously thirsty in the last 24 hours.
No further fasts now till at least Monday - at best it will be a 20 hr then.

GaraMedouar · 14/08/2025 06:04

Brilliant result @fastingaway . I think perhaps the sweats was due to not enough salt or electrolytes. Maybe that’ll help the thirst.
