Anyone up for supporting each other with 36 hour fasts?

As a midlife / perimenopausal woman these worked brilliantly for me in the summer and I managed to lose my first stone. I'm completely convinced by the health benefits and would like to get back in to them, but can't break through the struggle at the 21hr-ish mark. OMAD is no problem, I just want to hit the 36-hour fast.

Would anyone like to buddy up for some mutual encouragement?

Well done!

I didn't think my sleep was any different (worse or better) but I've just looked at my FitBit sleep score and it was 92! I don't think it's ever been that high.

Do you want to do another 36 hour fast together again in the future? I'd be really keen to do it again together sometime. (I know Christmas plans probably make it tricky for the next couple of weeks...?)

I'm not sure what time I'll eat today. I don't usually eat until sometime between 11am and 1pm, but will see how I feel later.

Eddielizzard · 18/12/2024 08:07

Amazing! I'm keen to join. Not getting good sleep is one thing I am worried about, but if you're sleeping well...

Peae · 18/12/2024 08:32

I’m about to breakfast, but not in any hurry really.

Yesterday from late afternoon I was feeling pretty rubbish. Hungry and miserable. Thinking it just wasn’t worth it. However, this morning having had a great nights sleep and lots of energy for my 40 minute walk into work I’m feeling really positive. Oh, and also broke through my plateau on the scales!

Im going to do some more, but make them OMADs with a small, fat fasting meal in the hope of avoiding the misery.

Very late to the party but can I join you please?
I love fasting as it’s easy, don’t have to really think about it and the results are great.
I did a few 36 hour fasts before my holiday earlier in the year and lost what I wanted.
I also found that my mind was clearer.

Sadly I fell off the wagon and have feasted instead!

I'm am also unable to get past 24 hrs and I've heard 36 is the magic number! Any tips would be great

Peae · 18/12/2024 08:58

Yes, I think Megan Ramos promotes it as the magic number 😊. To be honest I just ended up white knuckling it last night. I think I have too much sugar and carbs in my diet.

@Fabulouslyunfabulous How many fasts did you do earlier in the year and how often? What were your weight loss results? Did you keep the weight off?

I ended up doing nearly 40 hours today.

It seems there are a few of us here keen to do this again. It definitely helped to have this thread, so maybe we can all plan again for when we do the next fast (I guess there could be a mixture of people doing 24 or 36 hours?).

November10000 · 18/12/2024 12:42

Made it to 11.10 and had a glass of beetroot juice and a chicken breast with peas as that's what I fancied.
Well done all and very happy to join in again.

Sunflowers84 · 18/12/2024 15:28

Well done @November10000

Those of you who have done 36 hour fasts before - how often did you do them? Do you know if it's ok to do twice a week?

Sunflowers84 · 18/12/2024 15:48

Just done a bit of research online and it looks like more than once a week is fine.

So...I'm thinking of doing another fast from tomorrow evening until Saturday morning. Anyone want to join me?

Peae · 18/12/2024 16:53

Hi Everyone, I've enjoyed a 'feast' day today of salmon salad and a red Thai curry with rice, plus a few Christmas chocolates. Decided to fast from 2:30pm as I had had enough.

I'm going to do OMAD tomorrow after a 24 hour fast but not sure about where to fit another 36 hour fast in before Christmas @Sunflowers84.

Hi ladies, may I join? I done a 36 hour fast last Thursday. I am just finished dinner and would like to do another. I really recommend this for shifting a few lbs. Smile

I think that I did about 6 spread out over a month and I lost half a stone (I didn’t have a lot to lose which makes a difference I think). Prior to that I had done a couple of weeks of OMAD.
I didn’t keep it off because I went the opposite way which was stupid!

Peae · 18/12/2024 17:34

@hopeforlucky3 I'm not sure if it's helpful but I want to do 2:30pm today until 12:00pm on Friday, but with a meal tomorrow after the first 24 hours.

Perhaps if we're working to different timeframes at times, we could check in but include a sentence or two about what we're doing and where we're at? E.g.

3 hours in to a 24 hour fast, aiming to finish 3pm 19/12/24. Feeling fine and off to do a weights work out.

Or something, just so we can respond to each other, even if it's difficult to remember what everyone is doing?

I finished eating at 6:30pm and plan on fasting until 6:30am on the 20th.

hopeforlucky3 · 18/12/2024 19:10

Hey, I finished eating at 18:00 this evening and plan on ending 6am Friday Smile

Sunflowers84 · 18/12/2024 20:48

I'm going to attempt to join with those of you fasting tomorrow. I had thought Friday would work better with my plans, but it would be nice to be fasting with other people again.

I didn't finish dinner until 7.30pm, but (if family plans work) I'll hopefully be fasting until Friday morning.

Peae · 19/12/2024 10:25

I’ve crashed out already. How’s everyone holding up?

Whyherewego · 19/12/2024 10:32

I am so hungry. Not gonna lie. I'm going to try to push to a 24 fast but don't think I'll make much longer

Sardines57 · 19/12/2024 10:39

@Peae just came across this thread, busy right now but will read later. Very interested in joining in future fasts. My longest was 64 hours back in June. I do OMAD most days. I think fasting is very beneficial but you do need to plan it around rest days. Putting this on watching list.

Good luck anyone currently fasting.

Sunflowers84 · 19/12/2024 11:17

I'm still planning on fasting until tomorrow morning. I'll check-in later to update!

Sunflowers84 · 19/12/2024 14:15

How's everyone doing? I'm currently feeling ok and motivated.

Peae · 19/12/2024 15:05

Well done @Sunflowers84 ! How’s it going @Whyherewego ? I wish I’d made it to 24 hours, but think I did the right thing stopping today.

Well I've managed to last so far but absolutely bloody starvin'!
I'll be glad to just make 24 hrs which is in a couple of hours and then I'm gonna eat!

@sunflowers84 well done you! You're smashing it !

@Peae some days it's the right thing to do. You've already done brilliantly this week !

Sunflowers84 · 19/12/2024 17:46

Well done @Whyherewego

Yes, @Peae - it's really important to listen to your body. You did so well on Tues.

Is anyone still with me for 36 hours? I'm feeling a bit hungry now, but I think if I have a herbal tea, keep busy this eve (won't be difficult - lots to do) and aim for an early-ish night, I should be able to keep going!
