Fast 800 meal ideas

heartbreak84 · 09/06/2024 21:38

I'm starting the Fast800 tomorrow (but with a little flexibility). I will eat the same evening meal as my children every night, but then have a 200-400 calorie meal around lunchtime. It may mean me hitting 1000 some days, but I'm not concerned about that.

I am asking if anyone has any favourite low calorie meals. I have 3 of the Fast800 books and have been searching through them but thought someone might have speciific easy/go to meals.

Apologies if this is insensitive with Dr Mosley's death, but that has pushed me to do something after so many weeks/months of being unhappy as life is way too short. I saw him record his podcast 2 weeks ago and have since bought and am reading his Just One Thing book ❤️

You are all inspirational and I’m sneaking in to join you.

I’m 50 at end of August, peri-menopause is nearly moved over to menopause and I’ve gone from a pair shaped size 14/16 to an apple shaped sized 20 and I can’t cope with it and the growing health risks and ailments.

sure I’ve got some of our beloved MM books somewhere so will dust them off and actually read and implement them.

I’m 18st 11bs (263lbs / 119kg) now - and aiming for 16st (234lbs/ 101kg) to start with.

don’t forget to take measurements! I don’t always see changes on the scales but will see changes in measurements.

good luck all.

Your stats are pretty much a mirror of mine! It's the health impact that is giving me the impetus but tbh I possibly look about 10 years older than I am. So I avoid mirrors Grin

TheCatterall · 21/06/2024 21:27

@Gorgonemilezola I only view mirrors for makeup nowadays. Seeing myself naked or thinking of the view my partner has leaves me feeling like crying.

it is a mix of a more sedentary lifestyle, immune system disorder, menopause and just eating crap and comfort eating.

must do better.

realised I’ve only got the fast800 recipe book so buying the other book now and doing a trial week with the app.

It’s suggested the keto approach- never done it or looked into it before but cracking on.

GalacticalFarce · 22/06/2024 19:13

Oops take away tonight. Rice with curry.
Will be back to it tomorrow. Might do a 500 cal day. I'll see how I go.

Howcanichange · 23/06/2024 09:37

So I've done a week.
Gone from 11 stone to 10s 10 so I'm happy with that.
Done 2 exercise classes and one pt session.
Found it hard yesterday and no change on the scales since Thursday.

Lifesd · 23/06/2024 10:11

Placemarking as I really need to shift about 3 stone and you are all an inspiration.

vincettenoir · 23/06/2024 12:19

I found not drinking this wkd easier than I expected, which I’m pleased about.

Howcanichange · 24/06/2024 07:27

Scales went up this morning and I don't understand why?
I'm going to blame hormones, totm and keep on keeping on!

vincettenoir · 24/06/2024 08:35

@Howcanichange it very likely is hormones. I didn’t do a weigh-in this week for that reason. I’ll wait until after my period.

Howcanichange · 24/06/2024 08:37

I'm not due but my cycle is all over the place at the moment due to peri menopause.

Noodge · 24/06/2024 13:24

I have been weighing myself outside on the patio because my whole house is carpeted apart from the kitchen which is some sort of old-fashioned fuzzy flooring so not good for scales either.
I was 9st 12 on Friday morning, and 10st 4 on Saturday morning! I had gone slightly over 800 ( I think about 900) on Friday but still!
I am sure my scales aren't correct because of the uneven ground. Will have to think of where else I could do it!

Was good yesterday, under 500 cals. And aim to have the vegan Rogan josh today and stay under 800. I've got so many clothes for summer that I want to wear and not feel like a lard canoe in!

Noodge · 24/06/2024 13:26

I dont think MFP is quite right though. I had a 'day off' on Saturday, went out for dinner, and also had some flatbread and hummus later-total 1300 calories. If I ate like that every day I'd be the size of a small village before too long but MFP reckons I'd lose weight😂

Breathmiller · 24/06/2024 14:51

Hi all
Checking in after the weekend. I didn't calorie count at all but did still try to keep within my 11-7.
Only day I didn't do that was last night but just a little later.

My slight worry was I was getting back in to it today so had to have ALL the good things before I limited them again. But, i didn't go crazy.

I am also slightly worried that I'm just not getting enough calories to see me through the end of the week when I tend to do my more active work, I really need to have energy in my muscles and I didn't last week.

I think I might go to keeping to a calorie count most days during the week but a little higher. And move on to 5:2. I have done today (so far anyway) and have my dinner planned. Think i will ease off tomorrow by adding a few more calories but not going daft and also sticking with my 11-7. That seems to be making a huge difference because its evenings I tend to eat badly if I'm going to. Mondays and Wednesdays would work well for me I think.

The 2 weeks I have done this for 5 days each week though have been eye opening though. Partly that I can actually stick to it with lots of healthy tasty food. And what a difference just that couple of weeks have made.
I hope it has reset my way of eating a bit.

MadameMassiveSalad · 24/06/2024 20:54

Can someone tell me how F800 works in a nutshell? Do you only eat 800cals a day?

MadameMassiveSalad · 24/06/2024 20:57

Thinking I'll join you.
3st to loose here too 🙄

Noodge · 24/06/2024 22:34

Yes Smile.
I am not an expert on it
I just find that it is a number of calories that I can stick to quite easily without being hungry. And it does make the weight melt off.

TEDPIEridiculousness2024 · 26/06/2024 13:18

Does anyone mind if I jump on this thread?

Big shop day on Sat so am thinking will start on Sunday on 800 cals 16:8 (noon to 8pm).

I have 3 stone to lose 😧

vincettenoir · 26/06/2024 16:24

@TEDPIEridiculousness2024 i went a bit OTT on my first big shop and bought too many vegetables. My advice is to be conservative with what you need, especially if it’s easy enough to top up in the week.

tryingcouchto5K · 26/06/2024 20:15

I'd like to jump in too, if that's okay. Started Fast800 today 16/8 (10-6).
I have 4 st to lose, keep starting and failing at diet and exercise. Off to the gym this evening - have been procrastinating for an hour. Will read the whole thread - hoping for inspiration. Good luck all.

vincettenoir · 28/06/2024 10:36

I was sceptical about people on fast 800 raving about having more energy but for some reason that seems to be the case for me so far. I am really appreciating being less knackered. I break my fast with a protein shake so I think that’s helping me sustain my energy levels. I am drinking less coffee than before which is not what I was expecting.

MadameMassiveSalad · 29/06/2024 07:27

Thanks @Noodge
Is that every day forever?

MadameMassiveSalad · 29/06/2024 07:33

What's the original book? There seem to be lots of versions...

Redpriestandmozart · 01/07/2024 12:44

This is going into week four for me, with a 2lb loss, bringing this total to 12lb so I'm very happy, but plenty more to go. I have meals planned for the weeks again, it's the only way I can do it.

vincettenoir · 02/07/2024 08:12

Well done @Redpriestandmozart. That’s an excellent loss.

Noodge · 03/07/2024 10:05

MadameMassiveSalad · 29/06/2024 07:27

Thanks @Noodge

My idea of it is that it is done to get off excess weight, and once you're happy with your weight then you can relax slightly and have more 'days off', perhaps increase calories tentatively until you reach a level where you're maintaining your weight rather than continuing to lose, hopefully having shifted any bad habits too making it easier to maintain a healthy, sustainable weight for yourself.

Noodge · 03/07/2024 10:08

I have lost weight to the point I can tell some of the flab has disappeared, my stomach area is flatter, more visible tone but the scales have not moved AT ALL, which is so disheartening!
