Day 1 of this adventure. I’ve got a headache but will soon be going to bed.
My eating window today was 8am-4pm. I’ve got so much to shift & hope I can keep this up. Anyone else want to join?

Hope all went well @Queencam , sounds very sensible to take it easy.
I hope I see a loss thiis week.

OwlsDance · 08/09/2024 22:42

Still here, weight isn't changing at all at the moment. However, my NSV is that I'm eating barely any junk. Not sure if that's due to fasting, or because I've increased quality of my diet just before I started. Just waiting for this to get reflected on the scales!

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 09/09/2024 09:42

I'm now 2 months in and have lost about 3.5kg. Not as much as I'd like but a) it's been pretty painless so I'm happy b) even with small weight loss, I can feel it in my body andmy clothes and c) unexpected huge benefit is that I feel better, more even keeled, less volatile. Clearly the impact on my blood sugar is good.

I've also noticed a pattern. I get to my lowest shortly before my period. Then during the week of my period, it fluctuates wildly. Settles down by about day 7 at a point somewhere above the previous low (this month its 0.8kg above). Stubbornly sticks there then slowly starts to decrease back to previous low about 10 days before my next period at which point the weight loss picks up and I get back down to a new low.

Bit slow, but I'll take the overall progress and benefits.

@Queencam How do you feel?

Less volatile made me smile - I can relate.

It’s mad how cycle linked it all is. Defo need that long term view on the scales as day to day or week to week changes can’t be relied on.

I’m feeling pretty wiped out to be honest. Light headed, no energy. Trying to take it really easy. Managed to go to the loo earlier which was a relief!

OwlsDance · 09/09/2024 12:19

@IdLikeToBeAFraser 3.5kg over 2 months is pretty good!

@Queencam hope start feeling better soon!

(Does anyone else have issues with people's names on this thread not coming up when you're trying to tag?)

I was exactly 71 kg today! This is my new low, although only by 0.2kg, but I'm so close in getting into 70s! Hopefully I get there this week.

About to break 17hr fast with overnight oats.

GameOfJones · 09/09/2024 12:52

Hi all,

A 17hr fast for me. Lunch of vegetable sushi, a yoghurt, some walnuts and a milky coffee.

Dinner of courgette and asparagus risotto and some raspberries.

I have just had another blood test this morning to check my cholesterol so hopefully will get the results of that soon. Back in March it was high (6.5) but that was before I started fasting and making some dietary changes. I've also lost a stone since then so I'll be interested to see if it's had any effect!

greengreyblue · 09/09/2024 16:15

@GameOfJones That will be interesting!
17 hr fast for me too.
Similar loss @OwlsDance and that seems like a good loss but somehow I feel like I should have lost more.
@Queencam going to the loo is v v important.😀👍🏻 in feeling yourself and getting things moving again.
lunch: boiled egg, half tin of tuna and rice salad, apple.
Just had a few walnuts and a green tea after work. Drunk loads of water today too.
Not sure what I’m making for dinner yet.

choc27 · 09/09/2024 17:43

Still here too. Plodding along. After gaining all my pounds back I seem to be back where I was. I am keeping to my eating window but and not eating many calories but my food isn't very healthy. Chicken burgers and chips tonight. Had sausage casserole with lentils for lunch.

Octopus45 · 09/09/2024 21:21

I'm still here too. Was 8st12.75 yesterday morning. Went out for a meal for my wedding anniversary and had a couple of drinks last night. Had a really bad nights sleep last night, hot flushes etc. Have stuck to my eating window today but have eaten far too much cause it was the only way to cope with feeling sick cause of no sleep. I literally feel as sick as I did when I was pregnant when I've hardly had any sleep. I bought some granola slices from Tesco and ate all four. Off to get an early night now, will hopefully eat a more normal amount.

Octopus45 · 09/09/2024 21:24

@Queencam hope your surgery went well. Sorry I haven't fully caught up with the thread.

greengreyblue · 10/09/2024 18:07

18 hr fast
lunch: half tin tuna with beetroot and salad, hummus dressing, apple.
dinner: wholemeal pasta with broccoli and leek with smoked tofu and cheese- adapted a Jamie recipe he made last night and been thinking about it all day! 😂 Bowl of blueberries and spoon of Greek yoghurt.

goingdownfighting · 10/09/2024 19:15

I'm still in this game! By the skin of my teeth though. Dirty fasts at the moment but they are improving daily.

I'm still losing the holiday gain. 3lbs down.

@Queencam hope the recovery is going well.

Well done for keeping on everyone. The cold mornings are challenging.

I've got a challenging September with work commitments - including working away which always throws my routine.

greengreyblue · 11/09/2024 20:15

18 hr fast
lunch: salad with one small smoked mackerel fillet and hummus dressing, pumpkin seeds, apple.
dinner: turkey steak burger with homemade coleslaw made with half yoghurt/ half lite mayo. Satsuma
Lots of green tea and water all day.

Nice work shifting the holiday gain. Great that even with dirty fasts you can see the weight going down 👍🏼

Queencam · 11/09/2024 20:30

I’m missing fasting! Did think about starting one this evening - and I think it’s probably a good idea from a healing point of view. All that stuff about autophagy and cell renewal. ALSO I am bloated AF - proper pot belly going on, which can’t but feel fasting would help with. Only reason I’m hesitant is I’m still quite light headed - get dizzy if I stand up too quickly, which I think is a post anaesthetic thing for me. So probably best sticking to regular meals a bit longer. Will see how the dizziness is tomorrow.

goingdownfighting · 11/09/2024 21:13

@Queencam thank you

I'm sure you'll be on it as soon as you're better.

@greengreyblue you're inspiring me.

Going to try for a clean fast tomorrow.

Happy humpday all!

GameOfJones · 11/09/2024 22:06

I'm actually starting to enjoy the empty/hungry feeling when I go to bed, because I know that when I wake up my tummy will be all flat! Intermittent fasting is definitely making me deal with hunger better and tolerate the feeling sometimes.

Yes, it's definitely taught me it is ok to feel hungry and nothing bad will happen if I am a bit hungry before a meal. I think I'd forgotten what being hungry actually felt like because I never got to that point. I definitely think it makes me appreciate my meals more.

I can't remember whether it was this thread or another thread where someone referenced "learning to sit with their hunger for a while" but it really resonated with me. I have learned far better how to sit with my own hunger and if my stomach rumbles think "that's fine, I'm really going to enjoy my lunch in a couple of hours" rather than "I must eat now."

greengreyblue · 13/09/2024 06:46

Morning all. Agree with all of those points.
Weigh day: 😀🎉
SW 10st 6
CW 9st 13
TW 9st 10 and maybe 9st 7 eventually
So 1.2lb off this week. I have been nearly this weight over a month ago then went up and now down again .It seems I can’t waiver from the plan too much at weekends and holidays or I undo all my work. Maybe it’s menopause but if I ate like I am now in my 30s / 40s I’d have lost lots more. I’m quite happy as I’m doing half the steps now I’m back at work and still losing. All good. Happy Friday!

greengreyblue · 13/09/2024 07:50

Just wanted to add that what I’m liking about this way of eating is that this week I’ve eaten a burger(turkey)in a big white bun, cheesy pasta , noodles and avocado, smoked mackerel and nuts which are all tasty and nutritious (but sometimes avoided on diets )so I don’t feel like I’m missing out.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm thinking more often: it's okay to want this now, but I can have it later/tomorrow/any day I choose! It's given me less urgency with food.
