After last week’s b2b things took a bit of a slide. Eating far too much sugar, drinking too much wine...

I tried to fast yesterday, but couldn’t face it. I’ve managed today though. 550 cals.

Just feel like I want to eat, eat, eat.

Working from home and homeschooling 3 kids means I don’t get a chance to eat through the day - which isn’t a bad thing. However I then eat crap at night and drink wine!

ListeningQuietly · 12/01/2021 20:46

Maz
Pick three days a week to have no booze
its a start

Another kilo off overnight which means my Christmas weight is gone! Very happy with that...

I'm planning minis for the next couple of days just to keep the virtuous weekday streak going.

ginsparkles · 13/01/2021 09:54

Well done @harriethoyle !!

3lbs off for me again this week. So passed the 11 and a half stone barrier! I'm delighted as B2B is usually a hideous failure for me.

Tracking calories on the non fast days is definitely helping.

harriethoyle · 13/01/2021 13:46

Thanks @ginsparkles - we're almost weight loss twins! I do lose weight quite quickly but as the Christmas 11lb gain shows, I put it on quickly too...!! Blush

ginsparkles · 13/01/2021 14:04

Me too! I have been gaining and losing the same lbs for a while now so am determined to break the cycle.

So far so good today. Granola for brekkie and pasta salad at lunch

missfliss · 13/01/2021 15:29

Fast Day 2 of 3 this week. Target weight is 11 1/4 stone, currently weighing in at 12 stone 1... closest I've got in recent years is 11 stone 8...

even with my xmas weight gain I still started this year 9 pounds lighter than I started 2020!

ListeningQuietly · 13/01/2021 17:16

I have been gaining and losing the same lbs for a while now so am determined to break the cycle.
Please remember that there is nothing wrong with weight fluctuating.
It would be very strange if it did not.
Even super skinny athletes and "celebrities" have weight fluctuations up and down by a few pounds over a fortnight.

Weigh is affected by each meal, by activity levels, by hormone levels

the key thing is that the fluctuation should be around a happy weight
and
if you are trying to lose weight, that the direction of fluctuation is downward over the months

a 1lb loss per week adds up to 4stone in a year
after all

I'm not actually hungry after my dinner but I really want to eat! I've got room for a boiled egg but prefer to have that later so I'm not going to bed hungry so I'm going to have some herbal tea. Does anyone else get this?

ListeningQuietly · 13/01/2021 21:51

Kylie
Yes
Brush your teeth with STRONG mint toothpaste
AND
have a big glass of water

reset your brain away from food Smile

2nd FD of the week for me today. Ended up on 650 on Tuesday which was a bit high so am going for a solid FD today.

Cecily42 · 14/01/2021 08:55

I have been thinking of giving this a go, but find it difficult to find anything to replace my current breakfast with. At the moment I have soda bread with egg and avocado most days. I find that if I don’t eat any carbs (have tried omelette and Greek yoghurt), I get hungry really quickly and don’t feel satisfied. The opposite of what you are all describingSad

ginsparkles · 14/01/2021 09:53

Morning all, good luck to the Thursday fasters. Yesterday was a bit snacky (which is always my problem when I'm at home) so today any snacking will be on fruit and not biscuits! It's the period after "school" finishes and before DH gets home for tea that's the danger zone. I think I need a healthy low calorie decent snack about then.

@Cecily42 I find breakfast is the worst thing for making me hungry. I generally go as long as I can before eating, I would potentially have your breakfast for a late lunch. It took a while for me to not feel hungry, I drink plenty and keep busy. Now I don't even notice I haven't eaten until about 12-1 o'clock. Good luck!

Cecily42 · 14/01/2021 10:31

@ginsparkles, I think we are just all different. I eat quite late breakfast around 10 but then I am not hungry until dinner time which I eat around 7 so never have lunch or any snacks. This is how I have always eaten but I eat a lot of carbs normally like pasta, bread, potatoes. If I don’t get carbs I feel light headed and prone to snacking so it just doesn’t work for me. I am not really overweight just flabby after this year in lockdown and the gym being closed.

KylieKoKo · 14/01/2021 11:00

@Cecily42 I find it easier to have nothing but coffee, water and herbal tea for as long as possible and then have a miso soup and salad early - mid afternoon.

I think the key is to experiment and find out what works for your body. I find cottage cheese with a chopped apple mixed in really filling and delicious if you like cottage cheese.

Also, you don't have to have breakfast food for breakfast. I quite enjoy cold takeaway curry for breakfast on occasion, much to DP's disgust.

ginsparkles · 14/01/2021 11:24

@Cecily42 absolutely agree. I used to be the same and had to have breakfast for a long time but as I got older that changed. Breakfast now tends to make me much hungrier.

But like you I am a carbs girl! I find that the hardest, because I tend to avoid them on fasting days, just because they use so many calories! I just promise myself I can have it tomorrow Grin

It really is a case of playing about to find the way that works best for you.

ListeningQuietly · 14/01/2021 13:26

Hi Cecily
Everybody is different.
If you are eating one big and one small meal a day with a good long gap in between, stick with it.
If you are overweight then one or both of those meals is too big.
Try halving the size of the breakfast.

If you are not overweight, just missing the gym, try exercising before you eat in the morning so that your muscles are craving replenishment when you point the avocado and egg in their direction Smile

Fasting today. Haven’t had anything so far.

3 days a week seems like a good starting point listening.

KateMAB · 14/01/2021 17:25

FD here too, gone really well, no-spag spag bol for dinner tonight

ListeningQuietly · 14/01/2021 20:04

Was good tonight : had quiche and salad and 11 french fries (I counted)
while the rest of the family scoffed the rest of the bowl Smile

FD today, no breakfast and for the first time ever for me on a FD I also didn't have lunch. Wasn't a planned OMAD, just ended up being so busy with the home schooling I hadn't got round to eating! Was pleasantly surprised that I was not so ravenous I started to eat the children.

Cheese and tomato omelette for dinner with red pepper, followed by a coffee and square of dark chocolate, have brushed teeth and closed the kitchen on 517.

harriethoyle · 15/01/2021 11:57

Fantastic @CoffeeRequiredNow that's an excellent FD!

Is it wrong I just put a bottle of wine in the fridge to ensure it's properly chilled by 5pm?! Grin

ListeningQuietly · 15/01/2021 12:43

How is everybody today ?
The sun is shining here which makes a HUGE difference.

@harriethoyle I have a bottle of red to enjoy this evening. Have a great weekend everyone. I will be fasting on Monday.

missfliss · 15/01/2021 17:50

Final fast day of the week. Slipped up by stealing the ham squares off my sons pizza 🍕...

Ah well - I made it till 5:30 before eating and it was my FD #3... ran this morning too.

Kitchen closing on approx 700
