That’s a shame @Humphriescushion. Could it be water? Are you....‘regular’Blush? That can slow any scale result. I have been super strict and not gone over at all in 3 weeks. My happy TDEE is 1476 but I’m only getting there on Fri, Sat and Sun. I’m around 1200/1300 in the week because breakfast and lunch come to 550 and dinner rarely is more than 700 because I’m watching portions of carbs etc. I’m doing this because I’m impatient. I’d rather crack down hard, get the loss then I can confidently increase cals a little. I know that’s not necessarily the way for everyone and I’m sure OP will say it’s not the idea but it works for me, plus I’m not hungry.

Humphriescushion · 26/02/2021 07:44

Dont think it is water @ benji, and am old so those days are gone Grin, think it is more likely lack of attention, i was doing something similar to you, but having one day ""off" but still counting calories on that day. I stopped that this week, got a bit lazy, and i changed my fast day so it may all come out in the wash next week. Has given me the push to go back to basic and keep counting.

ginsparkles · 26/02/2021 08:07

Morning all, well done to those with losses and @Humphriescushion back to basics helps me too.

I have been tracking everything I put in my mouth this week, much less snacking. I took @ListeningQuietly model and have worked out my happy weight tdee and my actual weight tdee. My two days so far this week have been under happy tdee. Today I am allowing myself a glass of red with a steak tonight, so today will be closer to current tdee maybe a touch over. Feeling more in control again. Thanks for keeping me grounded !

Benjispruce2 · 26/02/2021 08:33

When I said regular I meant the back door not the front @HumphriescushionGrin

Humphriescushion · 26/02/2021 08:59

Ah ! @ benji Grin yup regular!

harriethoyle · 26/02/2021 10:11

Awwww, thanks you guys Grin

Lol @Benjispruce2 I confess @Humphriescushion when I read your response I did think "i didn't realise getting old stopped you pooing" Confused Wink

My mother in law is concerned about our lack of kitchen and delivered a care package last night containing steak, two different pies and all the excellent breads! My maintain will not last the weekend but what a weekend it will be...!!

harriethoyle · 26/02/2021 10:12

@ginsparkles I am VERY impressed at your continued commitment amidst domestic turmoil. Keep it up! X

ginsparkles · 26/02/2021 10:49

@harriethoyle don't be fooled, I'm only managing to maintain. The weekend will be bad but I'm hoping that by being good during the week, I can off set today and tomorrow. I'll behave on Sunday. I mindful that at some point I'm going to have to squeeze myself into one of my black dresses. And hopefully on a more positive note we might get to go away for a weekend to a lovely restaurant seeing as we had to cancel our 10th wedding anniversary trip last year, so I'll want to be able to wear one of my nice dresses again!

I'm trying really hard to stay positive, am seriously not looking forward to DD going back to school, she keeps me busy and distracted.

Welcome to the gang @PartTimeDomesticGoddess
This is a good time of year to get back into 5:2 as the sunshine makes salad type meals easier to plan.

@ListeningQuietly that sounds AMAZING...

I was going to get a Dominos for my birthday next week because the kids love it, but then I thought HOLD ON it's MY birthday!

So I've ordered chicken caesar salad with all the anchovies, and fat croutons and crispy streaky bacon. Yum!! My DH is an excellent cook so it should be top notch ;-)

ListeningQuietly · 26/02/2021 18:30

harriet
I have to say that middle eastern food is a FAB takeaway meal

  • amazing vegetables
  • mostly grilled meats
  • LOTS of salad
  • my ultra carnivore, weight lifting DS gets to order schawarma as part of the menu
  • at the same time as my nearly vegetarian DD has her pick
AND its not too high calorie

And @ListeningQuietly it's SO TASTY!!

We've got an excellent Turkish near my house and I've already told DH we've getting a takeaway from there once we've back in March ;-)

Benjispruce2 · 26/02/2021 19:42

I love our local Turkish restaurant. The grilled chicken, veggies and salads and hummus are my favourite thing. The smell from that place is unbelievable
Sipping Cava to celebrate DH promotion and enjoyed spaghetti with a puttanesca sauce. Cheers everyone! Happy weekend!

harriethoyle · 26/02/2021 19:52

We've had steak and chips and red wine and I've howled about the fact tomorrow is six months since my mum died. Someone tell me it gets better...

harriethoyle · 26/02/2021 19:52

Congratulations @Benjispruce2 DH - I love puttanesca

Losing people is hard. Losing them during lockdown is ultra hard.
It eases, but it never goes away.

Benjispruce2 · 26/02/2021 20:10

Thanks @harriethoyle and I’m sorry about your mum. My DM died 5 years ago. I can tell you it does get easier but it might take a while. I think I emerged from the every day sadness about 3 years later. That’s not to say there weren’t happy times in those 3 years but just a general hole and feeling of loss. My mum was awesome and I miss her so much but I remember the happy times more now than the loss. I feel for you as you’re still in that raw stage. The first year is the worst.Flowers

ListeningQuietly · 26/02/2021 20:13

benji
Well done on your DH promotion.

FWIW both my parents are alive, but one is very ill and a very long way away and I cannot jump on a plane to see them.

harriethoyle · 26/02/2021 20:15

Thanks @ListeningQuietly and @Benjispruce2... I think the 6 months and birthday combo has just hit me for six tonight. It'll get different if not better, I guess. Her absence just feels very acute tonight. Don't get me wrong, she was an absolute bugger at times Grin but she was lovely on birthdays and I think Tuesday will feel very odd without her.

I hate adulting sometimes!

Benjispruce2 · 26/02/2021 20:43

The first birthdays, the first Christmas etc are all hard. You’ll get through but it’s ok and only right to mourn your loss.Flowers

KobaniDaughters · 26/02/2021 22:32

Oh @harriethoyle yeah that’s some double whammy - take care of your needs and self

KobaniDaughters · 27/02/2021 03:10

Redeemed myself with a relatively easy FD, fingers crossed I don’t succumb this evening but closing the kitchen on 580

ginsparkles · 27/02/2021 07:14

Congratulations @Benjispruce2 DH!

And @harriethoyle .... no words but the biggest hug. I hope the pain does ease with time.

Off to visit my Dad today.

harriethoyle · 27/02/2021 08:17

Thanks guys. Feeling better this morning after a good night's sleep.

Hope today goes well @ginsparkles x
