Morning all. I know I shouldn’t have it hopped on the scales and 2 lbs off after my first fast day!! I know it could fluctuate and I remember from doing this in the past that it can go back on as quick but it’s given me a boost. Really enjoyed my boiled egg and sourdough toast this morning. My TDEE is 1700 but I think I’ll be under 1500 most week days. I guess that’s a handy safety net for weekends. Have a good day everyone and I doth my cap to you hardcore b2b fasters.

harriethoyle · 09/02/2021 09:37

Morning, morning - signing in for day 2 of b2b. DH did not do very well with his ready meal choices for me and kitchen closed on 830 yesterday 🙄 but am going to aim for as near 500 today as possible. Doesn't help that we're snowed in again! Have found a tin of soup for lunch and beef stew currently defrosting for tea...

ListeningQuietly · 09/02/2021 11:06

Cold weather does not help
but at least the sun is shining here

Welcome @TipperarygirlinLondon
You said you are doing 12oo on NFDs
what is your TDEE
as with fasting, part of the plan is to have a real differential between fast days and non fast days.
The lowest I'd suggest for a non fast day is
happy weight sedentary TDEE
which sounds complicated until you think of it as
the right amount of food to stay slim even on lazy days
for me that is 1500 calories!!

That’s interesting op. Just worked mine out to the same as yours!

TipperarygirlinLondon · 09/02/2021 12:25

@ListeningQuietly
Hi...not sure. Have just looked at the info at top of post and need to work out. I200 will be a good bit less than I have been having Blush
Love the way you put the happy sedentary! Sounds like me!

ListeningQuietly · 09/02/2021 12:34

Tipperary
It is worth checking
because your "happy weight" TDEE will be your goal for the rest of your life
sadly it drops as you get older
and understanding what your body NEEDS to stay healthy
is the key

OP posts:
TipperarygirlinLondon · 09/02/2021 13:46

So...my NFD TDEE is 1656 which is much more than I thought.
Would trying to stick at 1450 and 600 still work for 5:2?
Really want to get this right as weight has been higher than I've wanted for quite a while and I finally seem to have my head in the game!

Benjispruce2 · 09/02/2021 14:44

My TDEE at this weight at lightly active is 1700 but 1475 at my happy sedentary weight.

ginsparkles · 09/02/2021 15:09

I'm feeling glum, periody and cold..... fast day not going to be successful. But not being too hard on myself. Tomorrow is going to be a tough day. I'll try to stick a fast in later this week, but if I don't, it is what it is right now. Maybe some 16:8's will help.

ListeningQuietly · 09/02/2021 15:23

Ginsparkles
Your head and your heart are more important than your waistline at the moment.

Remember the Annual plan for 5:2
24 weeks a year fast strictly and properly
24 weeks a year roughly fasting
4 weeks a year stuff that other things matter more

And there is no such thing as a failed fast day
just a deferred fast day Smile

@ginsparkles Flowers

Don't fast today. Do what you need to do to feel better.

ginsparkles · 09/02/2021 15:31

Thanks guys. It's rare for me to muck up a fast, but I just want to eat and cry today. Painting on a brave face for DD.

ListeningQuietly · 09/02/2021 15:40

ginsparkles
Plenty of protein and fat
as fats are good for mental health and protein makes you feel fuller for longer
that way you can have a really good micronutrients day
while eating plenty

KobaniDaughters · 09/02/2021 15:51

Agree with the others @ginsparkles fill
Yourself with healthy comfort food - try to stay clear of binging on crap because it will only make you feel worse but I’d put off FD for another day when you are feeling a bit stronger l. Food be our medicine and all that. Hope the day hasn’t been too bad Flowers

ginsparkles · 09/02/2021 15:59

You guys are such wonderful voices of reason. I have had a chocolate biscuit and a prawn Mayo salad with a ryvita.

I'll have my satay chicken bowl with cauliflower rice as planned and then it won't be too awful a day.

ListeningQuietly · 09/02/2021 15:59

The ultimate in comfort food Wink
its even got vegetables in it

I echo the others @ginsparkles - today, and over the next few days, self care is much more important than fasting. And it's a miserable day to fast today too!! Absolutely fecking freezing... eat another biscuit and don't give it another thought Cake

Benjispruce2 · 09/02/2021 19:56

I’m on 1300 on a NFD and totally full. Kitchen closed.

harriethoyle · 09/02/2021 21:31

Closing on 695 here today, giving a back to back total of 1517. Which is too high but also, frankly, a miracle! Today was the hardest fast day ever. I can confirm being snowed in with no kitchen is no fun 😂

Peanut butter bagel for breakfast tomorrow! Already drooling...

Benjispruce2 · 10/02/2021 10:02

I weighed my oats this morning and was shocked at how small a 30g serving is. I’d probably have at least twice that. But I have to say I was surprised at how it swelled up and was satisfying with some blueberries and cinnamon and a tbsp of Greek yoghurt.

ListeningQuietly · 10/02/2021 11:46

Portion Sizes are a real issue
when you see "calories per serving" on a packet
and realise that a family bag of crisps is labelled as 6 portions .....

KnobJockey · 10/02/2021 12:16

I commited this week to properly tracking every day.
Monday FD was 507
Yesterday was 1483
Nothing so far today, aiming to eat after 1pm

I'm hoping to see how much I should actually be eating, to see the reality of snacking and that those 100 cal mini chocolate snacks soon add up. Last night I had a very decadent brownie and cream instead...but all counted and within my calories. Got to enjoy that more, right? Hopefully it will make a difference on the scales too 🤞🤞

Benjispruce2 · 10/02/2021 13:53

I think you’re right. I consider myself a healthy eater with added wine as I don’t have a sweet tooth, hate butter and cream etc but you can still put weight on eating too much of the healthy stuff when you don’t recognise the calories.

ListeningQuietly · 10/02/2021 13:54

Knobjockey
Sounds like a plan.

Snacks are lethal as they do not reduce your hunger at the meal two hours later
but they settle on the back of your hips excellently.

An NFD of
100 calories on milk in hot drinks
500 calories of a tasty light lunch
800 calories of a really nice supper
100 calories of wine with supper

is much better than snacks and little meals Smile
