Gin
Excellent that your dad is home.
Even if if he is weak and confused you can all potter around him and have a cuppa

Halloumi : what are you having it with ?

harriethoyle · 04/02/2021 21:39

@ginsparkles that's great news and I honestly think you'll feel better once you've seen him. Flowers

I like halloumi with sweet chilli sauce or lashings of lemon juice so it's really nice and tart!

ginsparkles · 04/02/2021 21:43

Halloumi - with a herb dressing, roasted veg and Cous Cous!

Plan for visiting dad is to do two shorter visits in the one day, get down visit, stay for half an hour then go for a walk near his home and go back for another half an hour visit, to give him time to rest in between. Have booked lateral flow tests to take on Monday to be on the safe side.

ListeningQuietly · 04/02/2021 22:19

gin
Re your dad - that is a good plan

Halloumi - remember that its the maillard reaction that makes it lush - more heat than you'd expect for cooking it :-)

@ListeningQuietly thank you for the tip!! Looking forward to giving it a try!

Hope everyone has a good day. Smile

harriethoyle · 05/02/2021 08:44

1lb on the scales this morning despite a mini yesterday and 20% less than my TDEE on Weds!! FEWMIN... until I remembered my period is due this weekend and that always adds a couple of pounds of water retention on. I shall battle on until after Tuesday's fast and see how the land lies...

Lilice · 05/02/2021 08:57

Great news about your dad @ginsparkles.

Im considering a third fast day today, after overindulging last night on a delicious slow cooked bolognaise, glasses of red wine and chocolate 🙈

ginsparkles · 05/02/2021 09:06

Always good to know there's a reason @harriethoyle I always gain around the time of the month too.

Pleasant surprise for me on the scales this morning, 1lb off, been around my tdee for the past couple of days but most importantly (for me anyway) no bread and no wine. Hoping for a good week.

harriethoyle · 05/02/2021 09:21

@ginsparkles no wine always make me feel and look sleeker... but it's so DAMN DELICIOUS! Grin

ginsparkles · 05/02/2021 09:33

@harriethoyle I know! And we have signed up to naked wines which is lethal Grin

harriethoyle · 05/02/2021 09:55

@ginsparkles their Christmas box is amazing... I had to cancel my subscription because it was too tempting!

ginsparkles · 05/02/2021 09:57

Oooh yes! The Christmas box was amazing!!!!

ListeningQuietly · 05/02/2021 13:07

If I did not drink I'd be a size 6
but I LIKE wine
so I'm a size 8/10
and happier for it Grin

I'll be happy when I have lost this pesky half stone, then I can go back to wine in moderation. Grin

harriethoyle · 05/02/2021 18:28

Cheers, fellow winey (not whiny!) fasters! Grin

phoebemcpeepee · 06/02/2021 13:38

Hello can I join you? I started a new job in December and have been slowly but gradually gaining weight since Shock
I lost 3 stone with SW a few years back and whilst I had the luxury of being a SAHM was able to keep it off but I'm now working FT away
From home have no control over evening meals and breakfast and lunch are quick easy toast/ sandwiches etc. And I just think fasting still be so much easier to manage than trying to get back into sw.

My fast days will be Monday and Wednesday and I think I'll be fine as they are my office days so have access to kettle and microwave for soups and herb teas etc but will read up here on tips and meal ideas for fd.

ListeningQuietly · 06/02/2021 14:28

Hi there @phoebemcpeepee
Welcome to the gang.
Have a read of the opening post in the last thread - MASSES of information there
and further up this thread are various ideas about weekly plans

and NO question is silly - we've all been there Smile

Hello all - I am a returning Faster, was on the original 10ish threads bloody YEARS ago with Big Choc frenzy and several others, lost my baby weight, loved 5:2 then I dunno just fell off the wagon, haven’t ever managed to get back on and threads move so quickly but I really want to get back into it again.

I don’t really weigh myself anymore as back in the day I was training for and going on very long bike rides whereas most of my exercise these days is weight/strength training and yoga so I’m heavier anyway BUT I do have certain items of clothing I would like to just not be uncomfortable and tight anymore.

So....here I am! Am in period hell right now so going to do my 2 FD this week on Monday and Friday to ease myself in. I prob have to have hip surgery in a month or so as well so think if I get into the spirit of 5:2 now it will be easier to keep my weight under control when I’m not able to move much!

ListeningQuietly · 07/02/2021 10:50

Hi there @KobaniDaughters
Welcome back.
BigChoc has retired but she is well.
5:2 will get you back on track.

Hi there! I used to be on here a couple of years ago. Need to shift 5-7lbs. Is it not 500 cals for 2 days anymore? The fast diet website seems to suggest 800. What’s deal ohms wise ones?

Benjispruce2 · 07/02/2021 11:38

Oh not ohms!

ListeningQuietly · 07/02/2021 11:45

Hi there @Benjispruce2
Welcome back.

5:2 has mutated into lots of variants (a bit like COVID)
but the old basic formula still works

its really just about eating mindfully
leaving gaps
being honest about your real intake Grin

OP posts:
Benjispruce2 · 07/02/2021 11:49

Thanks. Ha ha I see. I could manage the 500 in the past so hopefully I still can. I’m a healthy eater , just need to watch the portions. I’m not a calorie counter so need to reset. This morning I had a piece of toasted sourdough with a small avocado mashed on top plus a drizzle of sirracha and an espresso. I’m going to estimate 400 cals. Am I way out?

Benjispruce2 · 07/02/2021 11:50

This is a normal day btw. Starting tomorrow.
