@plancina did you calculate the calories & carbs for your pepper quiches please?

Kimlek · 09/07/2020 13:26

☹️ my egg mixture just poured straight out.

Plancina · 09/07/2020 13:31

Oh no, @kimlek! Maybe try putting it in when peppers are raw and cooking the whole lot for 25mins? I haven’t calculated the carbs but the calories are 380 per portion without the bacon and without extra milk.

Plancina · 09/07/2020 13:32

Here are mine from this week

Here are mine. I stupidly cut the stalk off. 🤣 they’ll be yummy though. Used leftover mixture for pancetta quiches, which look to be working!

Plancina · 09/07/2020 14:12

They look delicious!!

sasparilla1 · 09/07/2020 14:15

Hello!

I wonder if I could please join you?

I've bought the Fast 800 book & the recipe, read and absorbed both and now feel ready to go! I've been doing TRE for a while though as it's always suited my IBS, to rarely eat before 12 or after 8pm.

Any tips are most gratefully accepted, I need to lose around 4st - I'm literally the heaviest I've ever been (barring being 9mths preg Hmm).

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/07/2020 14:22

Welcome @sasparilla1 !

@kimlek maybe you need to select a specific shaped pepper? Some can be a lot flatter than others?

OP posts:
Kimlek · 09/07/2020 14:36

Hi @sasparilla1 welcome!! my advice (apart from choosing the correct shaped peppers) is to plan & plot. The weeks where I’ve planned, checked cals in MFP prior to eating have always been more successful than when I just do BSD friendly. I also love to plot on a chart (Happy Scale app or MFP). I find this incredibly motivating and even if there’s a blip upwards or a plateau I can see the downward trend. I didn’t measure but lots of folk recommend this too. I also think doing TRE has a huge effect, which you’re doing already. Good luck!!

sasparilla1 · 09/07/2020 14:52

Thank you both!

@Kimlek - thanks, great tips.

I am currently the queen of slinging whatever is in the fridge/freezer straight into the oven, salad and carbs of some description for dh & the kids. I shall spend the weekend getting more organised!

And checking out the shape of my peppers.....

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/07/2020 16:13

My win of the day: chocolate fudge cake, buttercream icing, and fondant....and not so much as a lick! (Celebrating our family birthdays missed during lockdown on Saturday, so this is a 'one for all' mega birthday cake!)

I feel tired today, a bit wrung out. Watching the rain fall all day and thinking 'do I really want to go and do circuits in a field tonight??' Grin

Good evening everybody. I have been on the blood sugar diet for a while now and for the past few days have been googling maintenance issues assiduously. That took me to a much earlier incarnation of this thread (7?) and to some binge-reading of the various discussions. I've come across a wealth of information, much of which was new to me, and I like the longevity and upbeat attitude of the thread, so I am wondering if I may join.

This is perhaps more significant than the usual "Hi can I join" request because - full disclosure - I am male. The thread has a good, supportive "everybody in it together" kind of atmosphere, and if it is felt by @thenewaveragebear1983 or others that my presence would disturb that balance then I will understand, and get my coat. I would not want be pushing my way into a space where I'm not welcome.

Thanks,
OW

As far as I'm aware outwest mumsnet is for parents, not exclusively female ones, & there are plenty of non-parents & blokes on the site. I can't imagine why you wouldn't be welcome

Kimlek · 09/07/2020 18:10

@outwest welcome! When I first joined here I actually wasn’t sure if folk were male or female. I don’t think it matters. It’s a lovely supportive thread. Our different biology may affect our weight loss and maintenance but we all want the same thing.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/07/2020 18:28

@outwest welcome! The more the merrier!

Plancina · 09/07/2020 18:35

@outwest you’re very welcome as far as I am concerned! I am SO proud of myself - food today (while sis and nephew have been eating chocolates, crisps, sweets and then beautiful icecream from a lovely cafe):

Two poached eggs + 25g smoked salmon
Chicken and quinoa salad
Homemade lamb koftas with broccoli, asparagus and butternut squash chips

I am awarding myself an Irish coffee for pudding as a reward - coffee, whiskey and heavy cream (no sugar as sugar in coffee is an abomination)

Plancina · 09/07/2020 18:36

However, I am starting to feel annoyed and restricted by the 800 cals a day so am going to switch to 5:2 on Monday - I know I won’t lose as much by the wedding but I think it’s better to do this than end up off the rails

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/07/2020 18:41

@Plancina well done!

I'm just heading out to bootcamp. I've had a crappy day, my kids are feral, the weather is horrific and if I hear "mumeeee mummeee mummeee" one more time I am probably going to cry

I'm hungry too but I'm waiting until after I get home, just chicken thighs and salad.

@Plancina there's no reason why you Dan's have a break from 800 cals, it is restrictive and can be difficult long term. I find 1200 so much more manageable. It's basically 800 but a glass of wine or two, or a small snack which can definitely lighten the load a bit.

@outwest I'm also new here today, hello!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/07/2020 20:49

Feeling a lot better after slugging it out in the mud for an hour!

Closing kitchen today on 1250 cals, 27g carbs. I won't lie, I'm enjoying a red wine tonight after today with my feral kids, but it's still within cals and carbs so I'm happy

Weekend looming ahead; food tomorrow will be salad lunch and steak for dinner. We're having a bbq Saturday and I will be trying to be on track but I probably won't calorie count. Then Sunday should again be back to the plan, it's my birthday next weekend so I need to make this one as good as possible.

Hi everyone! I'm loving all of these meal ideas, some are right up my street.

I indulged in more calories for breakfast this morning; I'd planned to have scrambled egg but had a really bad start to the day and felt absolutely ravenous so added some beans and tinned sausages (a guilty pleasure) so still minimal carbs but more cals than I'd planned. Lunch was a no-carb ploughmans and dinner was the chicken and asparagus salad (delicious) both from the BSD book. So I've ended the day on ~1,100cals and I feel so much better for it. Less weak and going to bed feeling satisfied for the first time all week. Perhaps I'm just getting used to feeling hungry or maybe those few extra calories have gone a long way.
Anyway, hoping for a better night's sleep to have me ready for day 9 tomorrow!

UsuallyJustLurk · 09/07/2020 21:15

I'm also new to the board @outwest and @sasparilla1 it's great to have a place to go to for support and inspiration!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/07/2020 21:17

@UsuallyJustLurk we have a recipe thread too, see the link in the opening post and please everyone feel free to post on that thread your recipes/meals/ links and also any good fast800 friendly products/meals you can grab while you're out (now people can actually go out!!)
