Anyone interested in joining me here? I posted this on an older thread so will just copy and paste my story below:

I'm on day 8 doing the 16/8. I'm loving it!! I'm against dieting as restrictions always lead me to binges and feeling rubbish. I haven't weighed myself in 5 years as I got rid of my scales due to a very unhealthy obsession with weighing myself. I am very interested in intuitive eating and have been trying to get in tune with my body but it's been hard and the lockdown has thrown me off guard and I was overeating, feeling bloated and fed up. I'm loving 16/8. My eating window is 11-7 and I find this fits well with my lifestyle. I'm surprised at how much energy I have in the morning. Even managing an hour long walk with the dog ...getting up at 7 as well with lots of energy. Feeling less bloated and just happier overall! I think this is really helping me be more intuitively about what I actually want! Having good, hearty food. Butter and cheese and full fat yoghurt! These foods were always a no no for me but I much prefer theses to fat free/low fat options. I feel satisfied after my meals too .
Oh and I can't do this without a bit of milk in my morning coffee ( freshly brewed filter) so haven't cut that out. And have had a cheeky glass of wine during my eating window ...🍷

Am planning to weigh myself once a week, but did it this morning after 3 days of 16:8ing and am down 2.5lb! Realise that’s prob mainly water etc but such an encouraging start. I’ve got a stone to lose (initially, then prob another half a stone after that).
Funnily enough it’s made me realise how much I eat my stress in the evenings. Been really really lovely to go to bed slightly peckish.

wildthingsinthenight · 17/09/2020 11:58

Untilyournext that is amazing. Well done.
You really had a lot on before you started too. Hope things are settling down.

Gilead well done on your loss

Well I made it to 11 fasting. Then had poached eggs on toast and a banana. And a massive coffeeSmile God it was lovely.

Gordonbennit · 17/09/2020 12:36

Hello all Smile

11days in 5lb lost so far!! I did show 7lbs Loss a coupe of days ago but I seem to have put 2 back on - I really should just get weighed once a week or more just can’t help myself!!

I’m really struggling this last couple of days waking up starving! Put it down to time of the month so I’m drinking gallons of green matcha tea all morning to help. I’m determined to stick to it though as I’m enjoying the control it has given me over what I eat & when. I’m a total snack monster & tend to graze all through my eating time and just have 1 actual meal.

Iv been using the fastic app it has a function which shows what stage your body is in i.e. burning fat now, entering the autophagy stage etc which iv found helpful to keep me going those last few hours before the fast ends. It has paid features on the app but I haven’t upgraded just using the free one.

Well done to everyone for keeping going Im still in the beginning stages of all this and each positive story I read on here spurs me on more.

wildthingsinthenight · 17/09/2020 12:45

That's great Gordon
Well done!

Gordonbennit · 17/09/2020 13:30

wildthingsinthenight

I smiled at your ‘god it was lovely’ comment.

I never thought I would appreciate a cup of milky tea and a snack so much as that first one of the day BrewGrin

wildthingsinthenight · 17/09/2020 18:25

Gordon Grin

Had dinner early as I want a little something with a cuppa before my cut off at 7!

DownUdderer · 18/09/2020 09:40

I've had a good day, I was hungry for breakfast at 10:00 but I rode it out until 10:30 because I just felt I would be happier delaying and being in control rather than feeling reactive. I'm only on week two of IF and I just want to be strict for the first few weeks.

wildthingsinthenight · 18/09/2020 15:41

That sounds positing DownUdderer

I met a friend at 10 and ended up not having brunch. Things changed and I didn't get home til 1.30 having not broken my fast. Not planned! Felt crappy and headachy. Ate at 1.45

Not great for 2nd day really

wildthingsinthenight · 18/09/2020 17:01

*positive.
Sorry typos

DownUdderer · 19/09/2020 01:01

I find an unplanned extra long fast quite hard! I did it by accident last week when I went out to the park with DS and forgot my yogurt. I prefer knowing when I can eat as it helps me power through the hunger!

I'm going to have breakfast at 10:30 today, that'll be a 16.5 hour fast from last night's dinner.

I'm down 8lbs from 8th Sept. I'm so happy with that. I've honestly not been going hungry either. I can feel hunger pangs just before eating breakfast but normally with drinking water it goes away.

I'm 13lbs from target weight of 9st 7.

wildthingsinthenight · 19/09/2020 09:56

You're doing brilliantly DownUdderer
Are you just eating the things you normally would but in a smaller window? Or have you changed what you're eating as well?

wildthingsinthenight · 19/09/2020 19:22

Eating fine for the day!
I've felt full all day. Does IF do something to your appetite??
I broke my fast with a coffee and almond croissant and apple at 11
At 2 I had an egg salad roll, twiglets and grapes
At 6.15 I had cheesy tuna pasta, broccoli, cauliflower then a cup of tea and a bit of chocolate.
I feel FULL

wildthingsinthenight · 19/09/2020 19:23

I think I''m eating even though I'm not really hungry because I'm worried about being hungry after 7!

DownUdderer · 20/09/2020 00:04

I eat low carb. I've done it before lockdown and had amazing results. I don't get as hungry because protein is more filling and satisfying long term compared to carbs. I must say I'm not completely strict low carb though, I just try my best.

Yesterday I had a yogurt and a handful of nuts, for breakfast. Then I had one piece of wholemeal and seeds toast with butter and deli meat and carrot and hummus and some mozzarella. I had a walk and when I got back I had 4 crackers and a babybell. For dinner I had Thai beef salad from the take away. I drink plenty of water all day.

I just want to lose this weight! I've got clothes that don't fit me, they're nice clothes! I just want to be a stone lighter and I'm sure so many things will fit me again!

wildthingsinthenight · 20/09/2020 08:30

Your food sounds lovely DownUdderer
I've done keto twice and lost lots of weight each time but it is so hardcore.
My DH lost 3 stone on it and still eats low carb.
I've woken up not hungry but I have a headache. I did yesterday morning too

DownUdderer · 20/09/2020 10:14

Drink plenty of water @wildthingsinthenight, that might help the headache.

wildthingsinthenight · 20/09/2020 16:23

Thanks will do xx

HolaVida · 20/09/2020 19:19

Need this thread to keep me going. Ate some chocolates last night, a bit later than my usual routine for 16:8 and woke up this morning feeling starving- wonder if all the excess sugar didn’t help.
Didn’t eat til 1pm today, am surprised how easy I’m finding the mornings- evenings are harder!

DownUdderer · 21/09/2020 06:54

I think the body adapts quite quickly to fasting. I've had a good day, I did a 17 hour fast ending this morning at 10:30.

wildthingsinthenight · 21/09/2020 07:34

HolaVida That's interesting about the chocolate. I am struggling with the opposite to you. I have a good meal before my fasting starts and it seems to see me through the evening when I just drink lemon sparkling water. But mornings are HARD. I get up at 6.30 desperate for a cuppa with milk and sweetener. It seems a really long time til 11!! The waiting to eat doesnt bother me but the hot drinks do.
I might have to try black tea and coffee even though I really don't like it.
Also worried about teeth staining!

PomBearSandwich · 21/09/2020 13:45

Good afternoon all. I've been on and off this thread since around the beginning, under different usernames! I've lost 11lb so far. Does anyone else find that they'll lose 1-2lb in a week, then it'll stall for weeks on end before dropping another 1-2lb?

Also, does anyone know anything about IF when pregnant? Everywhere just says that it "isn't advised" but I'm TTC DC2 and in my last pregnancy I gained SO much weight. I think as long as you don't massively restrict, eat healthy, listen to your body and maybe have a slightly longer eating window (14-15hrs?) there shouldn't be much of an issue? I fail to see how crappy Slimming World with it's awful Frankenfoods are ok for pregnancy but this isn't! I'm worried about getting pregnant and gaining back all the weight I've lost, plus the additional 3stone I gained last time!

PomBearSandwich · 21/09/2020 13:46

Sorry, that should say a 14-15hr fast window with a 9-10hr eating window!

Sissy31 · 21/09/2020 16:21

@PomBearSandwich Everything ive read have said advises not to fast too, but i guess its depends and as long as you are listening to your body. Maybe ask your GP and explain the concerns about you putting the weight back on ect?

I'm struggling to lose anymore Sad
I feel great but weightloss has defo stalled

wildthingsinthenight · 22/09/2020 07:21

Morning.
Already "failed" today 🙄
Had a cup of tea and a dash of skimmed milk as soon as I got up as I've got stomach ache and it's all I want.
Who would have thought a cuppa might derail my eating plan?
Enjoying all other aspects of IF and having no problems in the evenings.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 22/09/2020 09:13

wildthingsinthenight If you want milk in tea you can still fast - it's called dirty fasting. How you do it is up to you, but generally if you don't go over 50 calories in your fasting window it's still a (dirty) fast. It still works for weight loss although doesn't have other fasting benefits.
