Yay bear !

Also trying to get strict again after a week filled with missteps...and wine and dinners out. Yesterday was better, 924 cals, 31 gr carbs, though still too much snacking. Thankfully have only regained 1-2 lb in the last week (hard to tell when the scale varies over the course of the day), but want to get back to losing steadily. So it's time to get back on it.

Have a nice lunch ready to go later (chicken breast wrapped in prosciutto, sliced into a spinach, green bean, and red pepper salad) and a filling dinner planned, and am going to try some new recipes this week. And got a package of cauli rice to try - I like normal cauliflower lots, but want to try a new curry recipe so will give the rice alternative a go.

Oh, and significant non-scale victory this weekend: an old friend (who doesn't know about the diet) told me out of the blue that I looked 'really good, maybe younger?' Good incentive to keep on it!

Really struggling with chocolate at the moment - it's everywhere I look!

Someone sent me this, which made me chuckle...

Haha londonista that’s funny! It’s hard with chocolate everywhere isn’t it?

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 26/03/2018 17:31

Love that londonista I've been binge-watching The Good Place whilst eating chocolate so it seems doubly appropriate Grin

veryveryquietly · 26/03/2018 18:01

So true londonista !!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/03/2018 18:07

Just had such a nice dinner- leftover roast lamb cooked in Jamie Oliver’s satay sauce (from the 30 mins book) and with some peppers and mushrooms added, and served on courgetti (although as the dc pointed out, they replaced noodles so should technically be courge-oodles). It was so tasty! Plus had one of my little mousses, frozen like ice cream with 2 strawberries on the top. I feel like I’ve had a really decadent meal!

Total cals today 894, 38g carbs. I’ve done 17k steps (including a 4K run) and May have a small supper tonight up to 100 cals as per my 1000 cals on run-day strategy.

Hope everyone’s ok? It’s quiet in here!!

bear you're doing so well with your steps and your running. It's been amazing to see how you've built it up and made it part of your routine. Well done! Flowers
Today I had frittata for brunch then five spice chicken for dinner. I'm feeling quite floored atm with my back problem, a threatening cold and some other health issues. I cannot wait for the holidays.

TheLegendOfBeans · 26/03/2018 22:07

Hello all

Joining you after Easter as I will be getting through some choccy eggs next few days.

I am 5'7" and 80kg. I am profoundly addicted to sugar and have basically been on mat leave for three years and piled it on. This is the heaviest I've ever been and I think it's impacting my joints, mobility, skin, everything.

I have a big fat spare tyre and whilst losing weight isn't my motivation knowing that I must be storing all my fat somewhere as it's not TOO visible on my body is scaring me a bit.

Returning to work in two weeks so hope that acts as a distraction from the biscuit tin, sweetie jar and patisserie.

Have also started a strengthening post natal fitness program at my gym so hoping I can feel like my old (67kg) self again soon.

May i ask those who are vets of the BSD, how many dress sizes have you dropped?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/03/2018 22:19

Hi legend, welcome!

I’m also 5’7, but I don’t do kg. My very first round I started as a generous 14/small 16 and I was 13st3. I’m now a 12 (10 in a generous cut!) and yoyoing a bit around 11.2-11.5. So I suppose, 2 dress sizes. There will be others who’ve had much more impressive losses and inch losses than me!

Thanks place. I have never been a big exerciser, but it is really helping me this time round.

OP posts:
londonista · 27/03/2018 10:17

Hi Legend. I was a size 18. I'm now a 14, I've lost 11kgs as well (I work in kgs as well, but report in pounds as no one in the UK knows about kgs in terms of weight).
I used to always be Gap size L in blouses/shirts. I bought a couple of L sized shirts a few weeks ago and was amazed that they fit. I put one of them on this morning and it's absolutely swimming. Probably just the cut, but I was a bit amazed.

Best thing for me has been all my coats, bar one, now fit. I'm a big collector of coats, macs, jackets etc. At the beginning of December I realised I couldn't do any of them up. I went into Sainsbury's and shamefully had to buy a size 18 coat just to tide me over until i slimmed down to fit my regular coats. The size 18 looked just enormous, I recall thinking. By the end of December I couldn't do that new coat up either! Absolute rock bottom. So for me, being able to do up all my coats and jackets is a big thing.

Jeans as well, that feels good doesn't it, when you get back into them, as you tend to start favouring elasticated waistband things when you stack on some weight. I used to live in those jersey tapered trouser things from Next - my sons call them my clown pants. They're all going in the bin now!

londonista · 27/03/2018 10:24

Oh and I have to agree about the exercise. I am slightly miffed I haven't lost the amount of weight the book said I might despite following it to the letter, and then I realised that I haven't really been doing any exercise. The plan explicitly states you have to do weight bearing, aerobic exercise at least 3 times a week.

I start round 2 to get to goal (75kgs) on the 13th of April. I'm going to do 6 weeks of 800 cals, then go on a maintenance plan for the summer. I'm still trying to work out the right maintenance plan, and I've taken so much inspiration from this group!

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 27/03/2018 11:40

Welcome legend !
I was size 14 on top and size 16 on hips when I started. Now I'm size 8 on top and 10 or 12 on hips (depending on the style/cut). So I have dropped between 2 and 3 sizes.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/03/2018 17:46

welcome Legend I am 5ft and just under 4 inchers - went from a tight 16 to a decent size 10 (think this took about 5 months though) - a year or so later now up now to a tight size 12 but that's not so bad. Would like to get back to a 10 though!

11kgs sounds about on the money for what people seem to lose on here (obviously give or take a couple of kg) - well done Londonista

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/03/2018 20:29

All went a bit wrong today- I had lunch out and didn’t follow my plan (had pork roast/carvery though and basically just had a slice of meat and veg) Then for my evening meal it was supposed to be the meatballs from the book- except I’d bought beef not lamb mince, couldn’t find the pine nuts, and forgot to add the herbs! Served with a steam bag of veg which turns out it had butter on (was nice though, from Asda)

So.....kitchen closing on a rough guesstimate of 1100 cals, 55g carbs, 10k steps (no run today). Annoying because today I weighed in at my absolutely lowest weight yet after all these yo-yo days, 11.1.6. But after today, that may well have yoyoed back up!

Back to it tomorrow though, no unplanned events to get in my way. My aim was to get into the 10’s by 1st April and it could still be possible, indeed it’s all to play for.....

veryveryquietly · 27/03/2018 21:36

Wow londonista and everyone - really all should be so pleased with their losses and results. Really impressive.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 27/03/2018 22:05

legend sorry I should have said in my earlier post that I have been trying to BSD for ages now. In fact it's almost 2 years. So my losses have been over a while.
I had a rubbish day today: crisps, chocolate and lots of rest lying about .

TheLegendOfBeans · 28/03/2018 11:47

Thanks everyone for the response especially @aplaceatthebsdtable

The more I read that book the more I know I am brimming with visceral fat.

Weirdly pumped and looking forward to starting it off after Easter. God it'll be a shock though.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/03/2018 12:02

Just ran my 200th kilometre this year! Who’d have thought that me, bear, (so named for my Yogi bear-esque physique), ex smoker, chronically unfit, carb lover, wine drinker.... could run 200km in 3 Months. If I can, there’s hope for everyone!

It all went even more wrong after I posted last night, I just couldn’t stop grazing. Unplanned and off-piste definitely doesn’t work for me. I think it’s largely psychological, because my food was actually okay; I think I have an all or nothing mentality.

So today it’s ALL- lots of water, weigh and measure everything. I’m just about to have a shake, then tonight I’m doing almond and basil chicken from the book. I have to admit, it sounds a bit odd, but I’ve not really cooked much from the book and the few things I have done are always nice, so thought I’d try.

What’s everyone’s Easter strategy? Kids break up tomorrow, and we have various days out and other things over the weekend. I’m going to try to stay on track til Sunday but I do have a chocolate egg which I will be eating on Sunday night! Hopefully though as the easter weekend is right at the start of the school holidays, things can return to normal food wise pretty promptly afterwards. Or failing that, two weeks with all the kids off, chocolate everywhere, terrible weather....I’ll be drinking by 4pm and eating crap for two weeks!!

OP posts:
APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 28/03/2018 13:06

DS doesn't really like chocolate so my Easter strategy this year is to tell people that. Otherwise, we end up with 20 eggs lying around which DS won't eat and DH can't eat (because of allergies) so I feel guilty about the waste and dip into them.
My best friend is visiting during the hols but we have no other plans.
I'm fervently hoping my Easter order turns up today or we won't be able to give out any of the school/teacher gifts which means I will eat them

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/03/2018 20:11

Kitchen closing on 1170 cals, 40g carbs. I’ve done 18k steps, including a 5k run. All good.

The almond and basil chicken was actually quite nice, crunchy topping. Although be warned, the calorie count in the book is just for the topping, you need to add the chicken calories to it. I had spotted this when I wrote my plan out, thankfully, otherwise it would have tipped me over.

Woke up feeling grouchy today! According to Fitbit I’ve had only 6 minutes deep sleep last night, and 4 minutes the night before- so if that is correct, it’s no wonder. I felt like I was supercharged last night, like my metabolism/ heart rate was high (although it actually wasn’t) which maybe is a reaction to having a good, low carb day?

Anyway, I’m going to try and not have so much coffee today, and see if that helps. I’m having a vege day today so we’ve got lentil chilli tonight, and I’ll have HB eggs for lunch with salad.

OP posts:
APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 29/03/2018 09:42

I ended up eating lots of odd bits and pieces yesterday around my main two meals. Hopefully today will be better.

XRayYankee · 29/03/2018 09:47

Hello everyone.

I'm on Roly's 'lose two and a half stone' thread.

Is it ok if I post on here once in a while for inspiration?

You guys are doing great, and I need all the help I can get.

I lost 7lbs just cutting back and have been doing 800 cals this week, with the aim of losing a further 20lbs or so.

I have the BS book, but need to re-read it. Can anyone advise how many carbs I should be aiming for each day?

My weigh in day is Monday, so I'll report back with all my stats then, if that is ok Smile.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/03/2018 10:37

You are all doing really well, Bear your running is fantastic well done again Grin

Aplace how is your injury?

xray welcome - sounds a fab start! under 50g of carbs is often suggested on here, it's ok to have a bit more if they are coming from things like veg, beans etc and adding a decent bit of fibre. it's good to pay attention to what carbs make you feel full and what leaves you feeling hungry.

XRayYankee · 29/03/2018 11:02

Thanks yum.

I'll review what I've had this week, it's logged on mfp, and tweak as necessary Smile.
