Aromatic yep I think we've all had a pretty non BSD compliant weekend from the sounds of it! Grin

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/03/2018 16:51

Londonista yes I do drink coffee, with milk though- would that count as breaking the fast? I am pretty new to it as you know, so I just tend to get my run in as and when I can. I don’t know if any of you have a Fitbit, but I find it quite interesting how it calculates fat burn/cardio/peak heart rate and I do find that when I do intervals of jogging with short bursts of running it is in ‘fat burn’ or cardio mode more than if I do a long gruelling run where I’m at my peak heart rate. I will check out that documentary, thank you. And I’m
Impressed that you did your own decking!

Hi Bear and everyone.

I did phase 1 from May to end of July, and lost 31lbs. Then holidays happened and I never really got back on it.

So I'm treating this as a whole re-do, as I've put almost all of it back on.

I tracked everything last time which is going to help with food inspiration - I desperately need ideas for lunch, I foresee soup and salads...

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/03/2018 18:13

I’ve just had a delicious Keralan coconut curry for dinner, with prawns, mushrooms and veg. It was a ready made sauce, on offer in tesco for £2 but it has no sugar (unusual for a packet sauce!) and no BSD unfriendly ingredients. I’d definitely recommend as a store cupboard thing, it only took about 6 minutes to cook the whole dish from scratch.

And that’s the kitchen closed for the day, 890 cals or thereabouts , 12k steps, 4K run.

Day 1 finished. I'm declaring on 814 cals and 47g of carbs.

I was STARVING when I got home from work so scarfed a leftover sausage but it did the job and I'm happy with my day.

I need to think about lunches more, they're the most challenging for me.

But I start working in a different office tomorrow for a few months, and my old office has a regular stream of cakes, biscuits and sweets so not having those around will be v helpful.

Onwards!

kettle81 · 12/03/2018 20:13

Hi everyone

Can I join?
I'm into my 2nd week and finding it ok, for the majority of the time!!

I've been reading up on the threads from the very start, taking notes on new ideas for meals!
I'm not one to post a lot, but always like to read other people's journey and find it very inspirational.
I do have a question, I do a soup that involves keeping the drained water from boiling rice, will this water be loaded with carbs? Im very close to my 50g limit, so trying to avoid going over

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/03/2018 21:23

Kettle, welcome! would that water have rice starch in it? I’d be wary to be honest. Could you replace it with just water?

OP posts:
kettle81 · 12/03/2018 21:54

Thanks bear, yes I think you're right, it's bound to have some, I will do the rice separately from now another pot to wash!

4K run is brilliant, I'm trying to get back into jogging! But the only time that works around the kids is 6am, so struggling a bit! However the lighter mornings make it that little bit easier

oldnewmummy · 13/03/2018 11:27

Hi all. I am the artist formerly known as Rarely Infallible - for some reason Mumsnet logged me out over the weekend and when I put in the last known email address it came up with a previous, very old pre-Jeffrey name.

Had to go off plan today. My son tripped over a stool this morning and bashed his head on the leg of the sofa. Took him to A&E as he was feeling so bad and they kept us in all day for observation. I ended up getting us lunch from the cafe and everything had bread. I had a tandoori chicken wrap, thoroughly enjoyed it, and don’t feel guilty in the slightest!

veryveryquietly · 13/03/2018 11:33

Good morning! In a good mood today. So I guess I'm coming to the end of BSD Round 2, Week 1: did Round 1/first 8 wks, then had a very messy week following general principles but not really counting. Now have been back on counting strictly for 1 week, as of tomorrow. This week has been a mess (as my whiny posts suggest), but despite all sorts of stutters and problems in life I'm losing slowly but steadily again.

Short version: I'm now officially down 2 stone 7 lb since 10 Jan. Two and a half stone gone.

Because I like living on the edge, I celebrated by ordering some new plain cotton M&S undies, but in a smaller size.

But seriously: still have 5 or 6 stone to go, but now I know I can do this.

veryveryquietly · 13/03/2018 11:39

oldnew hope you and your son are both ok!

and londonista I've had that weird bunged up feeling after eating bread or pasta recently (when there was nothing else available, like yesterday's half bagel). Kind of bloaty and leaden. Probably just my imagination though. But, even if it is my imagination, it's making it easier to pass up the bread.

veryveryquietly · 13/03/2018 11:42

and londonista go go go! It's so impressive that you're building in so much more activity. I need to do that.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/03/2018 12:30

Very it probably isn’t your imagination. Most supermarket bread is hugely under-developed (under proved?) and the yeast does all sorts of grim things to your digestive system. Unless you’re eating lovely deli handmade bread, it probably is leaving you sluggish.

Quick weigh in this morning shows a pound off, so back to my pre off-piste weight! Shake this morning, then just had ham and cheese while Ds eats his lunch. I took the electrolyte tablets in water before my run again this morning, and it made the world of difference, I felt like my legs were just working better. I would highly recommend. Those documentaries that were suggested ‘how to get fit fast’ are on 4 on demand, so I’m just settling in with a coffee to watch it. (Plus has Anna Richardson in, my absolute favourite tv presenter!)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/03/2018 12:33

And well done very. Great losses!

London how was couch to 5k? It’s been recommended to me so many times and the park is literally on my road- and yet I have never quite made it there!

OP posts:
veryveryquietly · 13/03/2018 12:43

yay for electrolyte tablets bear

londonista · 13/03/2018 18:36

Do you know Bear, I surprised myself and actually managed it okay. And I'm someone who never ever runs. I mean, never. David Beckham could be handing out free back rubs and I still wouldn't run for it!

I think it's quite a clever program - I chose Sarah Millican's voice to help me through it! Grin

I did just eat half a waffle off my son's plate though. So not feeling too virtuous.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/03/2018 19:44

Oh, did you do one of those apps? Even better! Well done!

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/03/2018 21:26

Ended up on 1250 cals today, about 50g carbs. I did 17k steps including a 4K run.

Really struggled to keep my food intake down today. I think aiming for 800 is a little optimistic every day, but today I just saw 800 and then just carried straight on! All on plan, but seriously, I need to stop buying these ‘allowed’ foods that I just can’t stop eating. Greek yoghurt! I suppose I am
Only eating ‘exercise’ calories, but that’s a slippery slope and it’s hard to know if I’m eating more than I burn off very likely.

So, will try again tomorrow. This will be my epitaph I’m sure!

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/03/2018 21:31

Oh, but should add that I bought a size 10 denim skirt in the charity shop today and thought it might be a little incentive....but it fits already!

So tomorrow I might go loft raiding and dig out a few other Size 10’s! It’s like Free shopping, and my personal shopper is me, 5 years ago....!

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 13/03/2018 23:31

Congrats on size 10 Bear Glitterball
Well done on your losses Very! That is an amazing result so far.

How was your day 2 flighty - sounds as if we are in a similar situation.

Scales were down 2lbs this morning, I know its water weight but feels good to be eating less, my head is more in the right space to do this again. Not sure why, possibly confessing my new crisp addiction was cathartic! Fingers crossed I can keep it up.

GrimDamnFanjo · 14/03/2018 00:39

Just saying hi. I am on day 3. The thought of being fat and fifty has spurred me into action. I did 5:2 for about a year but fell of the wagon. I need a quicker weight loss to give me momentum!

AromaticSpices · 14/03/2018 09:32

Had a good day yesterday, ended up at 820 I think. Pret do these side soups which are only around 100 cals and their smoked salmon/egg/spinach pots are so tasty and filling for about 160 so its really easy to stick to my lunch cal aim (250) and actually feels like I've had quite a lot of varied tastes. I had a big omelet last night with mushrooms, leeks, courgette and a little chorizo, served with green beans on the side and it was so nice. Then some yoghurt after.

Have chicken, steamed veg today, might add a little olive oil to up the satiety factor although it'll take me closer to 300 today. Not sure what is for dinner though, Wednesdays are always a bit crazy in our house so its usually something cobbled together....

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 14/03/2018 09:34

Belated happy birthday londonista I hope you had a great day!
bear congrats on the size 10. You are being an absolute BSD Star
I'm losing and gaining the same 3 lbs over and over again. I'm not getting enough exercise but won't be able to until I recover from this fall. Prior to the fall, I always thought I was quite sedentary. Now I'm more stationary than sedentary and it's not helping with my weight at all Grin

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/03/2018 18:05

Just had a very measly tea as I forgot to put anything in for myself when I did the kids! So I ended up having tesco stuffed mini peppers (2 for 72 cals) and salad and a piece of blue cheese, and a little bit of yogurt and cherries. I should really forego the yogurt to keep my cals under 800, but my dinner was so stingy that I’m not going to give up my pudding too! I’ve had a largely veg based day today (2 lots of salad) and the carbs coming in at 54g proves that. It is my resting day from running so I did 30day shred. Currently clock watching til bedtime for these horrible whingeing children Grin

So that’s 894 cals. 54g carbs, 13k steps

OP posts:
Flightywoman · 14/03/2018 18:53

Day 3. I've lost a quarter of a pound. That's altogether! So to say I'm slightly disappointed is a understatement...

Yesterday was 880 cals, 63g carbs.

Today is 785 cals and 62g carbs. There'll probably be a couple more cups of tea, so I'll skip over 800, but I've done 22 floors according to my Fitbit. So I should be ok!

I DIDN'T eat chips tonight! Not even one. The rest of the family did and I didn't do mum-tax!
