I managed to put 1.4 kilos since Friday. It feels particularly huge as it’s pushed me back past 110kilos.
I’ve fine this by over eating at night after dinner. And not just regular overeat but yucky gross weird food combos and eating while I feel uncomfortable and eating past it.
I’ve been tired and overwhelmed. But the two biggest things hinge I think have been 1) not having a chat here and reading what everyone is up to and 2) not having a shower at night. The shower at night has been helping because I brush my teeth when I get out.

So from today I’m having my three planned meals, a daily read here and a shower at night.

ElanorGamgee · 19/02/2018 20:07

I have had a reasonable day today, slightly over 800 cals due to a 12 hour day at work and eating 10 Brazil nuts rather than 4 because I was starving.

Whoever knew that 4 Brazil nuts = 132 calories 😳.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/02/2018 20:40

Elanor wow I did not know that??

I’ve gone over today- went out for lunch and had an all day breakfast, which I reckon was the best choice, but then by dinner time I was so hungry I could feel myself getting that horrible panicky feeling where there’s nothing easy and BSD friendly, but I’m too hungry to cook! So I ended up having some nuts before my dinner.

I’ve just about scraped 10k steps today, but no time for a run. Tomorrow we’re going to a national trust with friends so I’m going to take a ‘snack box’ as opposed to a packed lunch, with some salad bits, cheese, etc- think it’s too cold to sit outside for lunch but hopefully that will keep me going, the dc can have lunch in the cafe, and I can cope on just coffee!

Hi all :) nice to see all the updates.

Had a bit of an off week so put half the weight back on. Not surprised really as my average daily calories were 450 so not realistic. I did actually start to get a bit obsessed with carbs and would panic if I was over 20g per day which is silly really. I also was feeling guilty if I hit 600 cals. It was starting to become an unhealthy w.o.e so I needed to break the habit and start fresh.

Have now got the book and am going to be following it strictly. Although am already stressing about carbs.

Wish me luck!

User5trillion · 19/02/2018 22:26

Just been out for a run and ran 3k, longest run yet. I have probably eaten 1000 cals today and had 50gs carbs. I went over this weekend but will be getting back on track this week.

AromaticSpices · 19/02/2018 22:28

Well first day went well and relatively painless. 771 calories in total.

Does anyone have anything with soup? I’d normally have bread but limiting carbs, had a side salad with it but missed that crunchy cracker toasty thing with it. Is there anything that’s not too bad? Or do I just adjust to having just soup? Have it all week for lunch...

Good luck winkywinkybumbum!

AromaticSpices · 20/02/2018 10:28

Forgot my damn soup (homemade and calorie counted) today for lunch! I have lots of places near work, think I'll get one of the Pret salads... They do a chicken one with pesto and some grains which is limited carbs but quite filling still with the protein, and they print calorie info on each box. Is that the best idea? I work in central London so lots of options, there's a Leon close too?

NotMeNoNo · 20/02/2018 12:56

Probably a bit late for your lunch: the Pret tuna salad is good but you must throw away the dressing (200cals)

AromaticSpices · 20/02/2018 13:53

Thanks Notmenono, that's good to know for next time. I went to Tossed and got a 'make your own' salad that came in at 257 calories (I didn't know before I went in, but they display all calorie info, even on the customisable options - well impressed!) of chicken, one hb egg, kale, cos, and pickled veg.

londonista · 20/02/2018 14:37

Aromatic - Tossed is fantastic isn't it. Pricey but always good!

AromaticSpices · 20/02/2018 14:52

Yes it's great! It was expensive, yes, £6 something for a regular salad, but it was all pretty fresh. I wasn't sure how much to trust the calorie info though, but it must be pretty well researched going by average portion size they do etc. I won't rely on it every day but good to have as a back up.

bridgetreilly · 20/02/2018 15:00

With soup, you can put a few toasted flaked almonds or pumpkin seeds on the top for some crunchiness.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/02/2018 17:33

Feeling back on my game today!

Took a salad box of cucumber slices, cherry toms, carrot batons and olives which I ended up eating on the drive home, and knowing it was there definitely kept me away from the delicious National Trust baking! Tonight I’m having a frozen haddock Florentine from tesco (175 cals) with a steam bag of veg (54 cals) which is a very light dinner! I should have enough for some Greek yogurt and berries later.

We walked a lot through the woods today, and then I did a run when I got home, so altogether it’s been a very successful BSD day.

Bear, I took your advice and looked at frozen fish dinners in Tesco today. There's two in my freezer now, ready for the days when I just can't cook.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/02/2018 18:39

The one I’ve just had was really nice, (probably even nicer if I’d oven cooked it rather than microwaved!). I’m not a huge ready-meal user but as the dc are off this week I have bought a few. Most do have either sugar in, or have rice/pasta/potato in, but I did find a ham in cheese sauce thing, and also a cauliflower cheese. Useful to have, particularly when Dh and the dc are planning a dominoes pizza on Thursday- I will have my ham/cheese/cauli ensemble!

Hello from work trip and CONGRATS Bridget and oblomov and welcome newbies. Have been loosely following but not logging last two days. This is definitely harder when having meals out or from catering. This evening had a cheat meal (including a small cocktail) having gotten through massive work ordeal but back on plan tomorrow. I'm really hoping tomorrow's lunch isn't as pasta/rice/bread centred as today's was - felt weird and picky avoiding the vast majority of what was on offer.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/02/2018 14:23

Woke up hungry today, and as a result I think I’ve already exceeded my 800 calories!! Had a shake for breakfast, and then had a spinach and cheese omelette and salad for lunch.

I have just done a fitness blenders workout on YouTube, 30 minutes of general toning and cardio exercises. I’d not done one before, and I was actually looking for 30 day shred, but it was good.

Tonight we’re having a Jamie Oliver recipe of pork wrapped in Parma ham (which sounds a bit porky to be honest!) So will see how that goes!

Hello to all the new posters!
Totm which always makes WI redundant imo so nothing exciting to report here. The cafe I usually use for lunch, when I am in the office, had only pasta salads yesterday. I'm hoping it was a temporary glitch rather than a new policy. Sad

AromaticSpices · 21/02/2018 16:38

Weighed myself this morning and so far 3.2lbs off since Monday morning, which I'm impressed with tbh! Feeling hungrier today though than I was on the first two days. Am managing on 250 cal ish lunch and then a decent dinner of 550, or thereabouts. Have been a smidge under 800 both days so far and on course tonight too.

Realised earlier though that I've not had any fruit at all, mainly veg and meat/egg for protein. In the book it says if you're going to eat fruit try to eat it with a meal... is it ok to not eat much fruit?? Have had lots of green leafy veg, broccoli and tomatoes which surely covers most nutritional aspects?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/02/2018 16:59

Aromatic I don’t eat any fruit except 50g raspberries in my shake each day. And avocado, but I don’t count that as fruit! I take a multivitamin to replace the nutrition; I find on the rare occasions I have apples, pears etc I get terrible carb cravings so I tend to avoid.

Here’s my dinner tonight- it best be tasty because I am starving!

Chilli for dinner. I know you all hate cauliflower rice, but I adore it, and the Iceland frozen bags are brilliant.

I had a scary moment today: nearly fainted in the middle of giving a lecture. Spots in front of my eyes, dizzy, losing focus. Had to ask for a chair and gave the rest of the lecture sitting down. It was very warm, but I had plenty to drink and that's never happened to me before. Suspect a low blood sugar moment, though I'd had a good lunch an hour and a half before it happened.

Any other thoughts? What do I need to do to make sure it doesn't happen again?!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/02/2018 17:49

That looks delicious oblomov. I’ve never bought pre prepped cauli rice, only ever made my own- perhaps that’s where I’m going wrong!

Bridget that sounds scary. Was your lunch very low carb? I have no real advice except my experience of hypo when I had gd, and that’s lucozade! Obviously not bsd friendly, but sometimes you just need to get the glucose up. In my experience, that horrible hypo feeling is one of the scariest sensations, because you can feel yourself going and your body starts to panic a bit (must be a side effect of the low glucose). I had a hypo every day for 6 months while pregnant with Ds and it was vile. It could be completely unrelated though, especially as you had eaten, and you haven’t had this before?

OP posts:
bridgetreilly · 21/02/2018 17:53

Lunch was half a pot of hummus, a couple of bits of red pepper and some celery. I'd also had half a dozen hazelnuts. I don't know what that is in carbs because I don't really track that. My first thought was a can of Coke, but I resisted. Had some yoghurt and raspberries a couple of hours ago when I got home, and just ate dinner. Treating myself to a teaspoon of peanut butter too, just in case!

Oblomov18 · 21/02/2018 18:52

Goodness me Bridget, that does sound scary. Shock

I don't know if your blood sugars were low, but if they were, you must have sugar ASAP.

I am a type 1 diabetic and going low, hypo is very unpleasant and very damaging. Damages the brain.
Eating a couple of nuts/similar is no good. It must be sugar ASAP, to bring back the blood sugar to normal, as quickly as possible.
The longer your blood sugar is low the more brain damage it does, that is why it is recommended Lucozade which is easily drinkable and gets into the blood system very quickly or jellybeans, or glucose tablets.

although please be aware that Lucozade (because of Jamie Olivers stupid stupid tax) has now changed its recipe and has less sugar in it then it used to, which is very good for everybody else, and the obesity crisis, but a nightmare for diabetics.

my diabetic consultant two weeks ago was saying that she is a very unhappy with it, the new lucozade, but that it all comes down to money!!

Maybe you should mention this to your GP? Because it could be something else entirely?
