I am really struggling tonight Sad Had two really good days (after falling off the wagon slightly on Mother's Day!), so had planned a slightly higher calorie day as for me it's easier to cope with 800/800/1000 type patterns. But I've eaten my thousand and it feels like it hasn't touched the sides Angry Am trying to gather all my willpower to stop me raiding DD's treats! So hard right now!

Scandicat · 29/03/2017 20:39

Also having a hard day Rue. Didn't fancy planned dinner at all. Went to sainsburys and bought steak, which is ok. But also going to have some sweet potato with it. Not disastrous but not what I'd planned. Can you find something that is extra calories but not too bad carb wise? Says the person currently eating peanuts...!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/03/2017 20:40

Me too rue, I feel unsatisfied today. Just worked out my intake and I've had almost 1000 but I needed something to get me through the evening- mini pot of philli and some carrot sticks. So that has taken me up to 1100.

Going to the farm tomorrow with friends and babies so just contemplating whether to take a packed lunch or risk the cafe! I might take a few bits 'for ds' that I can eat if there's nothing suitable on the menu.

Morning all! It's day 4 for me and I've just stepped on the scales for the first time and.......I've lost over 7lb! I'm now 12.1.4 and I started on Monday at 12.9. I am very chuffed with that!!

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 30/03/2017 09:38

bear that's excellent! You might even end the week in the 11's. Flowers

The rest of the week is going to be a write off for me tbh. I had a night out last night which was fun but I had pasta and gin and cake and more gin and . . . well, you get the idea. Blush
I also have a lunch on Fri; another lunch on Sat and a party on Sat night. I'm not going to be too strict because I know I can pick BSD back up on Sunday.

RueDeDay · 30/03/2017 11:29

Well done Bear! That's fab progress, very inspiring!! I ended up semi giving in to the cravings for stodge by having a coconut flour muffin from the freezer, microwaved and spread liberally with butter! Hate to think what it did to the carb ratio but far better than diving headfirst into DD's crisps and chocolates which felt like the only other alternatives! Feeling a bit more in control today so will have a 'hard' day and make sure I'm totally on plan.

I'm having a belated Mother's Day (ie CAKE! And other yumminess) this weekend so really want to be super dedicated before and after that, to minimise the collateral damage!!

Scandicat · 30/03/2017 12:41

Rue, I think every time we make a choice to do something that's the lesser evil, we are helping ourselves and doing long term good. I didn't gain 3 stone by one bad day, I did it by years of little bad choices.

Bear - brilliant! The 11s are definitely in touching distance. Crossing a stone barrier is so satisfying.

RueDeDay · 30/03/2017 17:44

Scandi I totally agree! Just so hard sometimes to make better choices! On track for 800 calories today though so all's good!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/03/2017 18:01

Thanks everyone.
Rue enjoy your special treats, and by pre-dieting you will be able to enjoy them guilt free!

I did the farm today. Got there too late for a breakfast, so instead ordered a bacon roll, asked them to add an egg and a grilled tomato, then left the bread! For dinner I've had a mystery unlabelled meal from the freezer which I think was chicken with broccoli/cauli cheese- but was very nice anyway.

Justonemorecupoftea · 30/03/2017 18:51

I love the sound of a mystery meal from the freezer bear, was it deliberate or did a label fall off? 😀

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/03/2017 19:28

Ha, just unlabelled! I knew it was fairly recent because I had a cull about a month ago, but had to wait until it was cooked to find out exactly what I was dealing with! You rarely get surprised when you cook every meal yourself, do you?

I've had a kind of hot salmon Niçoise salad tonight. Didn't fancy it but it was actually really good. I'm about a 1000 calories today but only 28g of carbs. Plus I've been on my feet all day - 17,000 steps. So feel like I've earned the extra. Oh, and was in a shop looking at loads of Easter eggs. Desperately wanted some and resisted. 1 good choice...

thenewaveragebear1983 · 31/03/2017 19:56

Good work Scandi

I am sooooooooooo hungry. I've worked hard today, had a measly salad at 12.00 and a glass of red wine on an empty stomach. Not good. My dinner is almost ready though. I've opened the kids naughty cupboard about 10 times and said no, but it's been tough!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 31/03/2017 20:01

Ooooooh and here she is: ribeye steak, garlic mushrooms, griddled asparagus and salad.

I won't add a picture of dh's with a big mound of chips as well.

That looked great Bear.

Today I have completed 12 weeks. The last 4 were nowhere near as strict as the first 8 but they have still been successful. These are my stats:
1 January - 12 stone
Start of BSD - 11.9.8
Today - 9.9.8
Total weight loss - 2 stone 4.2
Waist - was 38 now 28

I'm not quite at goal, but I've decided that's enough of phase 1. I've been really, really exhausted in the last week or so, and kind of brain dead, and I feel like my body is telling me enough. So after much thinking, I've decided I'm going to up my calories to 1,250 net calories on MFP. And I'm going to aim for two days of 800 calories and the calories I've saved I'll use to offset the times I eat out etc. That's about a 500 calories deficit each day on average, which means I should lose about a pound a week. Fingers crossed it works, I'm quite scared of moving off the diet because although its been hard it has been so successful.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/04/2017 13:03

Wow Scandi! That's impressive - 10 inches off your waist!

OP posts:
Oblomov17 · 02/04/2017 06:49

Well done Scandi, that's impressive.
Keep going Bear.
That steak meal looks delicious.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 02/04/2017 10:05

Congratulations Scandi ! They're great results. Even though you're not following BSD any more, do keep posting if you think it helps.
Some celebratory BSD-friendly gin for you Gin

Scandicat · 02/04/2017 19:45

I'm still going to post - planning to keep to BSD style of eating and will need the encouragement! Hope everyone has had a good weekend. I had a lovely celebratory day off yesterday - finally ate one of my salted caramel ice creams. Not too bad today though. It feels easier somehow when it's sunny, doesn't it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/04/2017 20:39

It's the end of day 7 for me, so week one weigh in tomorrow morning! I have had a remarkably good weekend- despite going over on calories I haven't had any of the baddies, and have had only allowed foods. Did have wine on Friday and Saturday. I can't believe the things I've said no to tbh, even ordered gammon and egg with no chips and salad instead- but chips came, and I didn't eat a single one! So I'm hopeful for a reasonable loss this week. I'm going to try the same again next week- Monday to Friday 800 calories, sat and sun Med style be as good as I can! But it's definitely the no pasta, rice, potato, grains, sugar that has carried me this week.

Sunny weather forecast all next week here Scandi, so I'm hoping that will help too!

Justonemorecupoftea · 03/04/2017 08:33

For the first time in weeks I deviated a bit from the plan this weekend. I had a few glasses of wine and sweet potato wedges dipped in mayonnaise. They were bloody lovely and I don't care Grin I still managed to lose a pound though so 15 in total in five weeks.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/04/2017 12:32

End of week one: I'm 7lb down Smile

This week I want to get down into new numbers so need to lose at least 2.5lb.
I must also drink more water- a few days this week I've hardly drunk anything, so I'm setting a timer on my phone.

Have a great week everyone!

Well done Just and Bear.

Has anyone tried any of the Joe Wicks/Body Coach low carb recipes? I've made the chicken pie which is delicious and I've just had an Indian omelette for lunch. It was really good, loads of flavour and very filling and it was less than 400 calorie, even with a naughty tablespoon of mango chutney on the side! It's worth having a flick through one of the books (there are three I think) for some inspiration. Only half the recipes are low carb, but they have given me some much needed new ideas.

Lndnmummy · 03/04/2017 22:49

Hi, can I join again? My start weight in September was 76 aftee six weeks I was 66kg and then fell off the wagin. I am 68 jg now and hve started again today. My goal is 58 kg so I have another 10kg to go.

Lndnmummy · 03/04/2017 22:50

Scandi, that is just the kind of inspiration I needed right now
