Morning all,
Weighed in this morning, 11 (yes 11!!) 13, so my million calories yesterday didn't do too much damage. I don't know what gets into me sometimes; I couldn't keep out of the fridge, and yet weirdly I didn't even consider going carb crazy. I think in the back of my mind I'm just weathering the storm until after my holiday now, but I know how much damage I can do in a week as well so.....perhaps this is my middle ground?

Really should spend the day packing and cleaning, but it's going to be glorious and I'm much more likely to be sat in the garden with ds.

My weight has stuck fast for a few days and actually feel quite bloated. There's been a few misdemeanours but not much and my overall calorie deficit is still very substantial. Over 10 days I've lost about 3lb.

Then yesterday I came down with a horrible throat thing which is making me feel dreadful. I had a fried egg sandwich this morning because I craved it but otherwise plan to stick to BSD as my appetite isn't great.

This isn't turning out how I expected 😞 I'm halfway through w2 so hopefully still time to turn things around

Flibbertyjibbit · 24/05/2017 17:26

Thank you bringmewineandcake will give the soup a go. Book has just arrived so get started on reading it.

tobee · 24/05/2017 18:18

Be kind to yourself, Eagle.

LoadingDishwasher · 24/05/2017 21:08

On R1W4D1 today and my weight hasn't dropped at all for 5 days, I find it easier sticking to veggies and cheese and eggs so on mfp my macros are pretty much 25/30% for each of carbs and protein and a massive 40/50% for fat Shock I keep within my 800 calories pretty much, walk the dog 3/4 miles a day and drink enough water. I think I may need to lower my fat intake and up the protein though to get myself back on the downward cycle.

EagleRay · 24/05/2017 21:36

How much weight have you lost so far, LoadingDishwasher?

LoadingDishwasher · 25/05/2017 03:37

I've lost 13lb, so doing well, my body is probably just acclimatising and will carry on going downward soon I hope. It hasn't put me off, I'm more just musing about whether I should up my protein and reduce my fat really Eagle

Fender1 · 25/05/2017 07:10

Hi loading, I posted a week or so ago about not losing the amount of weight others had celebrated.
I'm R1W3D4 so not far behind you and have lost 1.2 kg since the start. Not great but I have a NSV of losing 3 inches from my waist.
I'm just keeping on plan, drinking plenty of h2o and keep reminding myself that 10% of my initial weight (7kg) is a realistic goal in the 8 weeks, rather than the 12-13kg I'd like to lose !

LoadingDishwasher · 25/05/2017 07:28

Yes, and the people on fb talk about the whoosh effect which I haven't encountered yet, but I'm sure it'll be along sometime!! My 10% will be 23lbs so I've still 4 weeks to lose another 10lbs - I'm sure I can do it Grin

Coffeeandcrochet · 25/05/2017 07:35

Hello, I've been lurking on the thread and thought I'd say hi! I started the BSD at the beginning of the week and so far it has been much better than I feared - I've stuck to 800 cals and lost 4lb so far. I'm not diabetic as far as I know, but have a very strong family history of diabetes, and I am a bit overweight, so I want to try to head it off as much as possible.

I'm not sure what to do about this weekend. Im going on a cycling holiday with friends will be cycling a hilly 50-100 km each day for 4 days. There's no way I can do that on 800 cals, and I'm not sure what to do about carbs either! Our normal approach is to carb-load and keep topping up with sugary snacks throughout the ride, but I don't want to totally sabotage myself Confused

pico1 · 25/05/2017 11:03

Hi! I'd like to join this thread if that's ok?? I'm 42, 5ft3 and weight 64kg with BF of 28%. This has crept up in the last year - previous "happy weight" was 62kg. I'd like to lose 2 but pref 4kg but am really struggling, even when I restrict calories to 1400/day. I'm going to stick to 800 cals 3 days/week and eat low-carb Mediterranean the rest of the week. Do any of the experienced posters think this sounds reasonable? I lift heavy weights twice a week and try to squeeze in two HIIT session too. Grateful for any advice or tips!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/05/2017 12:14

Hi pico if I've read that right and you want to lose 2kg relatively quickly, I reckon your plan sounds ok. To be honest, you could probably lose that in a week if you did 800 cals for a week, then did Mediterranean diet to maintain. Obviously your exercise might affect your ability to do that.

I'm still ticking along- grazed a lot yesterday and didn't weigh anything as my scales have broken. When I totted up my cals in the evening I was at 1600! Still under tdee, but only just, and that was with my guessing quantities as well. All on plan though.

Resisted the glass of wine offered by dh last night, as from tonight we'll be basically on holiday mode and probably will drink every day for about a week and a half. I don't want to but I know I will as we're away with family and it will happen. I'm not going to be too harsh on myself but I am going to at least try to keep to my no potatoes, rice, pasta, grains or sugar structure at least most of the time. It's the simplest way for me to keep myself in check and not go too crazy. When we get back its my ds's birthday and we have 2 parties planned, plus a bouncy castle for the weekend! Obviously there will be birthday cake and other goodies.
5th June people- that's the big start of my proper 'summer body kick ass BSD properly on it programme' (catchy title eh?). I've been very honest with myself recently so I'm very aware of the difference between sort of doing the plan and really doing the plan. For me it will mean things like- getting rid of all the cheats (wine, sweetener in my coffee, not weighing things properly, grazing/snacking, wine!) and also doing some exercise, properly. It works if you work it.

For today though, glorious sun, ds asleep, good book, prawn salad for lunch. Smile

Thanks thenewaverage! Good point about just doing 800 for a week. I'd happily forgo the exercise and suck it up for a week I think! Might be worth a go......

tobee · 25/05/2017 13:23

Have a good holiday bear. Thanks for keeping this thread ticking along.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/05/2017 14:14

Pico it will largely depend on how low carb your current diet is. If you're going from a starting point of zero then you could quite feasibly lose 2kg in a week. If you're already on a lowish carb type of diet then you might not have that initial woosh that comes from radically changing your diet/habits. Still, I'd ditch the workout for a week and do 800 calories just to see if it worked but I'm lazy.

Anyone made cloud bread? Think I might give it a whirl! Smile

APlaceOnTheCouch · 25/05/2017 19:10

Happy holidays bear ! I've started counting down to our summer holiday. For the first time in years, we are going somewhere sunny. We usually stay in the UK because we're balancing holidays around work.
As well as needing some new clothes, I'm hoping it will be the motivator I need to stop sliding on snacking, weighing, etc. Summer clothes and sunny climes are a bit less forgiving Wink

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/05/2017 19:26

Oooooh place, lucky you. I long for a holiday abroad in a hotel, but realistically while the dc are young there's no point. U.K. Caravan holidays for the foreseeable!

Thanks again ladies! I do try and avoid processed carbs but am not terribly consistent. Today was surprisingly ok - had poached eggs with tomato, salad with tuna and a small piece of roast salmon with broccoli and a ginger/chilli/lime dressing.

Flightywoman · 26/05/2017 07:26

Tobee I made cloud bread last year. It's quite nice but it's not 'bread' by any stretch of the imagination!

Maybe I did it wrong, but it was quite fragile and didn't hold together enough to put anything in it sandwich-style.

They tasted quite nice though!

PinkBlossomTree · 26/05/2017 10:23

Pico I'm the same height as you and last week was my first week and I was 10st5.6 / 66kg and I lost 7lbs in my first week so your target is very doable. And I was on a diet prior to BSD so most definitely can be done.

Let us know tobee if you make the bread and how it turns out.

HmmmHashtag · 26/05/2017 10:49

Hello... Am seriously thinking about doing this BSD, but wondered if anyone has had success losing weight on this diet whilst taking anti depressants? I've gained 5 stone over the past 10 years, and I'm always losing and gaining the same 10lb now. Sad

Slimthistime · 26/05/2017 12:49

Hmm, same here! Lovely MNers, I request help please.

I've decided to try blood sugar diet. Summary - years of being three overweight, haven't stuck to diets, largely blamed antidepressants but now think that might not be true, in any case, doc said she's seen people gain on meds but lose weight in this diet. Blood sugar just the right side of okay.

Apart from having no idea how I'll cope with hunger, I have insomnia and I'm a bit worried as the book says this could get worse?

Also, I'm vegetarian. I'm desperate to lose though so I might add some occasional fish to the diet till I get weight under control. I don't really like eggs....

In terms of going out, I have two meals out coming up next week but after that nothing for ages. I was planning to have salad. I don't want to tell people what I'm doing but I work at home a lot and rarely eat out so I'll just say I'm dieting.

Mainly I'm worried about being hungry and lightheaded! But I need to lose this weight. Going to post here daily. Does it sound feasible for someone in my position?

I am 5ft 1 and weigh 12st 7lb. The lowest I've been in years is 12st and that was on a low carb which I hated so gave up after a month. But I've got to ditch this weight. I'm starting to be so heavy I dread walking a mile, it's crazy.

PinkBlossomTree · 26/05/2017 13:19

Hashtag - I'm on ADs and no problem so far. Currently on week 2 and the weight is most certainly coming off. I was on the 5:2 prior to BSD.
If anything it's massively improved my mood. To the point where I actually haven't taken my pills for the last 4 days. Completely accidental, but I feel so so happy. Back onthem tonight tho.

But I am aware for me after the BSD I will be back on 5:2 as a way of life but I can live with that.

Bringmewineandcake · 26/05/2017 14:33

Other than first thing in a morning I've actually stopped feeling hungry. I was/am a serial snacker - if I was in the kitchen then I was having something to eat. I can eat 6 biscuits, a piece of bread and butter and a bag of crisps whilst cooking dinner. I'm on Day 5 of week 2 now and haven't cheated once (yet).
I wouldn't say the diet is easy but if your mind is made up to do it then you should be able to manage.
