Went COMPLETELY off plan yesterday but had an absolute riot! Mostly a lot of cocktails but they were so so good!

Back to it today, haven't weighed myself, I'll leave that till tomorrow.

tobee · 14/05/2017 12:24

I weighed in today 6 days in rather than seven. I've lost only 2lbs. Sad.Ive been pretty strict, too. I'm on meds which might contribute to this paltry loss but I hate blaming them. I would be happy with 2lbs but other people seem to have ginormous losses in the first week and then plateau at 2. I can't afford to do that.

Oblomov17 · 14/05/2017 17:38

Flighty, I did too, completely off plan. Few carbs, but lots of wine with Indian for friends birthday. Errr yes, 2700 calories. Blush

But I'm batch cooking again now, chilli and cauliflower curry, hoping to get back in it.

3 people commented yesterday about how much weight I'd lost, so that's good.

Tobee I'm not convinced the scales ate going to show a massive loss (and I've got a bit to shift).

Will weight on Tues for the first week loss. Am sure I need to drink more water too which would help with the hunger and speed up the kids.

tobee · 14/05/2017 20:19

Had the brunch today (full English). Whilst it was very nice I won't be doing this again as I'm not eating again for another half hour and feel completely spaced out and terrible I think I need 3 meals a day. Worst I've felt and upping water isn't working today. SadSadSad

tobee · 14/05/2017 21:22

Just had my roast dinner (served up too late) it was nice and I feel more human now, but I thought what the heck am I doing? for the first time since starting. I know it's because I'm desperate and nothing else has worked but I was properly explaining the bsd to dh tonight (who is underweight with a chronic health condition) and it sounded crazy. I think it's just the blood sugar swings or carb crash that is making me feel so terrible tonight. Sorry to moan.

Batbear · 14/05/2017 21:27

Tobee could you not make it 3 meals a day? I am. I have oats with yogurt for breakfast as late as I can hold out, salad at lunch and a low carb dinner.

I need regular small meals to control the hangriness!

tobee · 14/05/2017 21:48

Hi Bat! Definitely. I have for all the other days. Today I thought I'd do a Sunday brunch thing. It was fine at first. I ate leisurely and it was delicious but it meant a huge gap between meals from 2.30 until nearly 9 pm and it just hit me wallop! I think also the smell of the chicken cooking made me a bit crazy!!! Anyway, I've picked a fight with everyone Blush but apologised now and felt very faint and spacey. I think dh was alarmed. He was shocked when I said I was doing this diet (I've been 5:2 ing for about 3 years but not eating sensibly on non fast days), I don't think it looks like it but I've put on a stone gradually over the two years since I had major surgery. Anyway, tomorrow is another day, I will learn from my mistakes. I'm on beta blockers (meant to be a temporary thing) and thyroid replacement therapy which has probably not been helpful to my metabolism. Sorry for the essay!

PinkBlossomTree · 15/05/2017 07:56

Hi I'd like to join your thread if I may.

I've been doing the 5:2 for two months alone and have just noticed there was a board for it on MN. I've never heard of the BSD before and was intrigued by your thread and I'm so inspired I want to start tomorrow.

I lost 3 stone last year and put back on 2. I've been enjoying 5:2 and have lost 9lbs in the 2 months. I'm fine on FDs and I'm pretty good on NFDs apart from if I have a night off a night runs in 2 days off I put on weight and the next FD is just trying to loose the extra weight I've gained. I seem to do better and find it easier as I'm not so hungry when I'm more strict.

My stats are:
5ft 3
Current weight: 10 stone 5
Target weight:ideally 8 stone 7 but will reassess this once I reach the 8 stone bracket. It's more how I feel rather than what the scales say.

My weight over the last few years has been 9 - 14 stone and I would love to just be a stable weight for once in my life.

My aim is 4 weeks on BSD to give me hopefully a really good boost and to hopefully decrease my appetite and straight back into 5:2 as a WOL. I also want to use these 4 weeks to get back to the gym and start cardio again just aiming for 1 session per week.

Day 1 new start lets give it a go

EagleRay · 15/05/2017 08:30

Good morning everyone!

I posted last week to say I was considering BSD but life is rather tricky at the mo with a poorly child. I've got the book although haven't read it yet but decided to start today. I'm currently 76.1kg and would be delighted to get down to 65kg then see how things go from there.

My arms and legs look like they've been stuffed with porridge and I'm sick of it!

I'm used to doing 5:2 so I will load my calories towards the end of the day. Need to start drinking more water too

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/05/2017 13:02

Morning all
Welcome newbies!

Gah, I just am going to pretend yesterday never happened. It was not low carb. Nor sugar free. Now let's move swiftly on......

I'm back on it today hopefully. Little platter of chorizo and cheese for lunch. Dinner is beef and broccoli stir fry. I've changed my outlook a big this week and am going to increase the quantity of veg I eat, because I'm struggling with my actual hunger. I need more food!!! So I've done my menu but allowed a sizeable portion of veg and have reduced protein/fat accordingly. We'll see. I go on holiday a week on Friday and I'd like to lose, oooooh about 3 stone by then. Totally do-able?!!

I'm hiding the bathroom scales until I go away also. I usually weigh daily but I'm getting a bit fixated with the numbers and it doesn't really help so I've hidden them and will weigh after a week. All this up and down around the same 2lb is making me very frustrated!

OP posts:
Batbear · 15/05/2017 17:59

I woke up feeling a bit faint this morning so my breakfast had to be eaten a bit earlier to get me going.

I had a massive salad with cabbage and fennel for lunch and have a courgette dhal for dinner.

All in all it's been ok today, especially as I drank loads of water.

DH is off shifts tomorrow which is likely to send me off balance - he's always been slim.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 15/05/2017 18:14

I'm having a day off BSD today. It was DC's communion yesterday and apart from a teeny slice of cake, I was fine. However, I am so tired today, headachey and TOTM so I am going to have a pizza, film and cookie night. I'll be back on it tomorrow.

Flightywoman · 15/05/2017 19:30

I'm back on today after Saturday. Yesterday was ok but not 800 cals - still no carbs though.

I desperately wanted mash tonight, had a small mouthful. But the sausages were great!

PinkBlossomTree · 16/05/2017 08:26

Day 1 complete yesterday. Was fine as my brain thought it was a fast day, my head has not got round the fact that it's doing this plan as it was a spontaneous "oh wow that diet sounds amazing"

Came in at 47g of carbs.

I've got a banging headache today. From experience my body suffers really badly from carb withdrawal so I plan on getting through that only once and then sticking to the plan.

What's everyone having for their dinners tonight?

Oblomov17 · 16/05/2017 10:14

Welcome newbies.

I was very good yesterday, but like Flighty, had a small amount of mash with my dinner. OMG it was divine, so creamy. I don't even feel bad about it!! I realised how much I had missed it.

I am doing ok. Losing 2lbs here, 1lb there. I am determined. To be in the 9's, not the 10's for ds2's HC, in 5 weeks. I'm getting there, no too far off, only just in the 10's as if today.

How did it actually go Couch? Which dress did you decide on? Did you feel good?

I think sometimes we just need a day off, don't we?

Someone else on the school run this morning commented about how much weight I'd lost, so this inspires me.

Oblomov17 · 16/05/2017 10:16

I forgot to tell you that one of my lovely guys at work gave me some quails eggs. So that's what I've eaten for breakfast today and yesterday. They were SO tasty!

Blood sugar diet thread 6
APlaceOnTheCouch · 16/05/2017 12:57

Quails eggs are so pretty. I've realised that I've never eaten them. I just used to admire their shells when my brother bought them. Grin

Oblomov the communion was fab. The DCs did amazingly well. They remembered all the words and looked suitably devout. Until the last happy-clappy hymn where they were so relieved it was all over that they became more and more enthusiastic Grin . I ended up with a completely different dress from Ted Baker. Blush It was a size 10 - so happy days! It was comfortable and lots of people commented that I looked nice.I felt confident and happy in myself which was a lovely feeling - and all thanks to BSD and this amazing group Flowers Do you have everything organised for your's?

mrsreddington · 16/05/2017 13:06

Can I join please? I'm 5ft 7 and 13st 8.5lb. Lost 3.5 stone on slimming world after dc2 but put half a stone on in April after a super stressful month.

Picked up the book at the weekend so going to try this whilst still weighing in at slimming world. We go on holiday in a month so I'd like to get below 13 stone if poss.

Yesterday was my first full day on it. Feeling a bit head achey but I'm trying to drink lots of water. The meals so fat have been lovely though. Even dh liked last nights tea (though he had rice with his!)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/05/2017 13:15

Hi everyone.

Had a good day yesterday, although still hit 1000 cals. Today I'm really quite busy doing other stuff so not really thinking about eating, but that can go both ways can't it? More calories consumed mindlessly than when I'm focused!

Went to tesco and forgot the list, and was trying to do a shop for us, plus various bits for the PTA Fayre, plus trying to buy the non perishables for ds's birthday which is the day after we get back for half term. Plus restrain a lively toddler. Needless to say, not sure that I got all the ingredients for my menu plan this week!
Tonight, it's chicken stuffed with feta and spinach, wrapped in turkey-bacon. With halloumi 'fries'. Looked amazing in a magazine I was reading over the weekend, but very calorific. I did eat more veg yesterday as I planned, and it did make me feel more full so will do that again to get me through the evening munchies!

OP posts:
EagleRay · 16/05/2017 13:53

Managed day 1 yesterday - semi success but did eat a few extra sugary things because they were there! I spend about 70% of my time in hospital with DD so there's lots of temptation re uneaten food.

For lunch today I've had soup and a boiled egg, then tonight I'll have tofu with veg. I think I'll be learning as I go but feel better for having just got on with it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/05/2017 17:51

Oh my. Halloumi fries. Probably the closest you can get to an actual chip without having potatoes.... Yum yum!

OP posts:
Oblomov17 · 16/05/2017 18:36

Bear, how did you cook them?

PinkBlossomTree · 16/05/2017 18:41

Day 2: and I'm closing the kitchen on 774cals & 26g carbs.

I switched my potato for cauliflower florets and it was surprisingly nice.

And for the first time in a very long time I didn't eat all my dinner. I have been starving all day looking forward to my food and I just couldn't finish it.

Has anyone tried the very low carb & low cal noodles? There something ridiculous like 9cals a portion?
