Oops bad evening yesterday. Had a compulsion to sit on the sofa and eat all the things. It wasn't as bad as it might have been but there was chocolate, and wine and some sweeties. Weird I haven't had that desire for the last 6 weeks. Still I think I kept to about TDEE and today is another day, right?

H3l3naGraham · 25/05/2016 07:57

Thank you not2b - I'll keep a look out to see how mine fare, have 2 pairs & am swapping them around at the moment , useful tip, I appreciate it!

Those cocktails sound rather nice couch but I am not much good with spirits, have enough issues with wine!

cake - yes, indeed today is another day, I am saying that as well as sis-out-law is staying with us for a few days & turned up with some wine last night, as I am doing the cooking (on-diet) would have been rude to refuse the gift, but only had 1/2 a bottle... Was still 1/2 more than I had planned so have spelt out that tonight is dry!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 25/05/2016 07:57

Well my 2lbs increase has disappeared- hurrah! This is my 8th week and so far I have lost 12lbs. I'm going to try to be good for the rest of the week- flat shoes; more walking; some nice salads and soup.

Marvellous sometimes we have to eat all the things. It's so we can be impressed by our own willpower when we go back to BSD the next day Wink

lookingforhope · 25/05/2016 08:02

What is TDEE? Can someone explain all the terms on here? (newbie, sorry). 790 cals yesterday, lots of fish and vegetables, and 10,000 steps but went to bed at 9.00 Hmm to avoid snacks. Just finished book and wanted to ask how many of you do the exercises set out and the mindfulness, and does it help ? (sorry, questions, questions!)

Not2bObvious · 25/05/2016 08:11

Must have been the night for transgressions. Yes back on it with a vengeance today, "d"h said I was sabotaging myself, I said "beep beep and mind yer own"....no not really but it's fun to think it.
Tdee, total daily expended effort - how much you burn in a day. There are online calculators, put in height/weight/activity level and you'll get a number. Most people put sedentary to allow for wriggle room. Yes I exercise, I walk daily the 10,000, no I don't do mindfulness as I am incapable of grasping the concept despite doing an 8 week course. Just won't click and a bit too ernest for a cynical sod like me, but I believe it's excellent for those who can grasp it. I try to employ a cop on attitude, hide the biscuits and drink a glass of water. My painful head is reminding me that my cop on went awol last night & im paying for it now! Anyway you're welcome here, question away😉

Morning.
Starting week 8 here. Static for the last week with a few ups and downs in between so not very exciting.

Need to get back on the horse with a vengeance this week. Not been doing enough exercise and eating too much, although not bad stuff. Oh well, just goes to show I can't really relax and need sustained effort to make it work.

Hope everyone's doing ok - the cravings to eat rubbish/sabotage are so strong with me sometimes it really messes with my head!

Not2bObvious · 25/05/2016 09:21

Think of static as maintenance oola, nice to have you back.
I'm not weighing in until Friday - have to trust the process (when I do it that is!) Had a few nuts so far and just about to have a coffee, no walk this morning due to headache

OP posts:
H3l3naGraham · 25/05/2016 09:42

Hi oola - don't worry about static, I was for an age, as previously posted, you'll get a WOOSH, I suddenly lost 2lbs over a week with very little change to what I have been eating/drinking and think I am just about another 1lb down, would help if I could count - DH has pointed out that I am 2lbs off 12 stone, not 3.5 .... DUH keep getting the Kgs & lbs & oz mixed up on my scales!

Forecast said it would be dry today, but it's raining - so will do my walk later when it sorts itself out.

Brekkie is porridge made with almond milk & berries, lunch chick-pea frittata with kale, chilli & the remains of some feta, dinner meatballs with a pepperonata type sauce - sis-out-law doesn't usually cook from scratch & is a tad bemused, she also doesn't need to diet (underweight) so I will need to up her portion sizes considerably as have no intention of making a separate meal!

oolaroola · 25/05/2016 10:10

Thanks not and h313 for your reassuring words, it's lovely to hear when I feel a bit unmotivated.
I'll keep going. Am very busy with work at the moment and quite stressed which doesn't help, and haven't had much time to spend on meself.
Anyway that's enough moaning - it's sunny at the mo here so got to get out!

clare8allthepies · 25/05/2016 10:27

My toddlers sleep is absolutely terrible at the moment, I am shattered all the time which means that exercise has gone out the window and at the end of the day the willpower to resist a couple of glasses of wine is nonexistent.

However I have managed to stay off the carbs and was 10 13.2 this morning! It's been a looooong time since I saw a 10 on the scales!

H3l3naGraham · 25/05/2016 10:38

Very well done clare - you must be delighted! I would be too at that weight, I have at least 1 more stone to go, probably 1.5 if I am being honest so will be on this forum for a while yet....!

Not2bObvious · 25/05/2016 11:00

Oh well done clare, if you weren't so tired you could do a dance 😁 Poor you, I remember those days, they were tough. There's a reason sleep deprivation is used as torture. Hope the little one finds their sleep again.

Am having a bit of a MN break atm, due to some problems.
But as H3 said I am a diabetic, but I'm not type 2, I'm actually a type 1, since aged 1 and have been on a pump for the last 15 years.
hopefully I Will be able to come back when I'm ready.

Looks up taebo. - am learning a lot from these postings!! Wink

Peasandsweetcorn · 25/05/2016 12:32

Hideous 48 hours here due to TOTM. However, still only up 1lb from Sat. Can I lose 2lbs by next Monday?
I, too, have been wanting people to notice my weight loss - after all, I have lost 10lbs in 5 weeks - but have reminded myself that I am simply back (or almost back!) at the weight I was this time last year and, as they were kind enough not to comment on (or possibly not notice) my weight gain, then they may not have noticed or want to comment on me having lost that gain. A lady who I see regularly said something the other day about how she had lost half a stone recently and I really hadn't noticed anything different about her....well, I had but thought perhaps it was different make up or something rather than weight loss.

Not2bObvious · 25/05/2016 12:51

I'm sure you can peas, drink plenty of water, keep to plan and its in the bag. Still hanging in, eaten lunch and have around 350 cals left for the rest of the day. It's hard sometimes isn't it? It's not even 1pm. Hope to get out for a walk to collect the kids from school, get a few steps in.

OP posts:
H3l3naGraham · 25/05/2016 18:36

Go for it peas - you can do it!!!

Not2bObvious · 25/05/2016 18:56

I was right 350 wasn't enough left! 1250 eaten and I count myself lucky I didn't ring the Chinese or the chip shop. Too many carbs but that's the problem when you drink wine on a Tuesday night too fast. Damn you sunny day! Can't wait to get to bed, mainly to stop myself eating anything else😩

OP posts:
oolaroola · 25/05/2016 19:04

Oh no not! At least you didn't go takeaway! Going to bed earlier does help doesn't it?

I'm off skating this eve but am knackered so not going to be easy.
Managed to squeeze myself in to my new 28 inch jeans today so a NSV achieved after this morning's gloom. My old 30 inchers were getting a bit shapeless. I have to breathe in to do them up but I wasn't expecting to be able to get them on for another couple of weeks so whooppee....

Not2bObvious · 25/05/2016 19:15

Well done oola! That's a great nsv. I wore a pair of jeans today that I haven't worn since last summer (white) and they were pretty loose. I don't want to buy anything much yet, with another 15-20 pound to lose. Time to go through the wardrobe, see what fits now and donate the bigger clothes, I don't want to go back to them. I got shot of all my size 16's a few years ago and that meant I never let myself get over a 14. No safety net! Wardrobes bursting with unworn clothes, that would be a good thing to do on bsd day, distract & encourage😁

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 25/05/2016 19:26

Enjoy the skating oola and congrats on the jeans! It's going to be a while before I see 28" jeans again and to think I used to think I was fat when I wore 24" ones in my twenties Shock

I'm a bit carb heavy today but should be ok for calories. famous last words

Sputnik · 25/05/2016 20:42

Sorry I haven't been on here for ages! Good to see you are all doing well. I've been progressing, maybe not as fast as before but well enough. I'm doing a kind of improvised variation here at this point, some days at 800, some over by quite a bit, but still definitely BSD. Weekdays I'm always 16:8 and alcohol free.
I've just been taking stock, which made me think about writing it all down here, for myself and to encourage people starting out. I started this in mid february, and since then I've lost 8-9 kgs (I guess that's about a stone and 1/2). I honestly feel about 10 times healthier, better digestion, more energy, not constantly thinking about food and capable of eating a single slice of toast without then ripping through half a loaf. My portions are down. All the way through I've had wine, cake and pizza at weekends so not been that strict.
I've been upping the exercise lately, I highly recommend fitnessblender videos, there's always something there whether it's a hour of weights or a 5 minute stretch, I'm really having fun with it! I think it was Not2b who first recommended them on here, thank you!
Anyway, I'm going to be around still for a good while yet, still got a major wodge of belly fat to shift but I really feel it's doable.

PuckyMup · 25/05/2016 20:55

Feeling inspired with this. Start date moved to next Monday now.

Need to go shopping on Friday for all my bits and stuff so I'm getting ready to meal plan :) Where to start!!

Peasandsweetcorn · 25/05/2016 21:52

Well done, not, for avoiding the chip shop & Chinese!
Oola - that must feel good.
I just had a veggie korma for supper which was lovely & dead easy. Fry off the spices with an onion, add some ginger, garlic & a green chili then bung in your veg (I did cauliflower, courgette, bns & carrot) and some stock. Leave to cook through slowly. Just before the end, stir through some yogurt & scatter on some almonds.
