Just wondering if anyone has tried this and how it went? I am about ten days in and coping well so far.

I have been low carbing for years on and off, and on 5:2 since Sept which seems to make the fasting easier.

Thanks for the advise re my mum.

I think I may need to step away from the falafel and hummus... Confused

BigChocFrenzy · 21/02/2016 13:01

Delic. You may need to be careful with portion size of those foods on your 800 cal FDs, moo and with nut butter too.

mootime · 21/02/2016 13:04

Agree, I've already binned the nut butter. Grin

It's not safe to have in the house... I can worldly regulate my rating when spread on toast, but with toast not allowed, I just eat spoonfuls of it out of the jar!

Falafel are just too yummy too. Maybe I'll leave them out until I get to nearer to goal

Not2bObvious · 21/02/2016 14:28

Doing pretty ok today so far, all food in mfp and its around 935, I'm allowing myself up to 1100 today, managed under 950 yesterday with 20 min Hiit workout & 13000 steps so I'm in good stead (I think?)
Thanks for carb advice bcf - I've managed 1 day at 50 but the rest have been around 70 due to small portion of porridge and some fruit.
How nice fruit tastes when it's you only obvious sugar

Not2bObvious · 21/02/2016 14:29

Or is it steed? Ack

Wheresthattomoibabber · 21/02/2016 14:39

Lost my way completely but back now. Restarting with mindful eating today and will do 800 tomorrow. Feel vile.

BigChocFrenzy · 21/02/2016 14:45

moo I've long accepted that if I buy my fav jar of mixed nut butter I'm going to open it - and then close an empty jar. It's like catnip for me Blush

Good progress, not2be
Staying under 1000 cals would still enable most people to lose well.
Oats are a starch, which may slow down loss, but flaxmeal is a very healthy low carb substitute, packed with antioxidants

Laska5772 · 21/02/2016 14:48

hi again , well yesterday was fine , I did have Wine - about half a bottle! but I chose the roast chicken at the pub ,(and had some olives instead of a stater ) and gave away the potatoes and sausage . ( was quite easy to do unnnoticed with my ravenous DB and DH eyeing them up! .) .. no one wanted pud , so a bit of a dieting result , withought having to 'explain' to my family I was doing so.. always a pain..)

And I was another lb down this morning! Also measured and have lost 2.5 inches off waist and 1.5 off hips since i started this 4 weeks ago

Today will be a bit differnt though, but ive decided i'm going for it .. I want to make Dhs birthday special .. so have MFP'd the birthday meals ive planned .it works out to about 1700 fo the whole day

Weve already had smoked salmon and scrambled egg for breakfast (that was really yum)

Then this evening i'm doing:

Italian meats and olives as a starter ,
Stuffed pasta with goats cheese and onion (I will have only a few of those) ,
Roast guinea fowl and salad , followed by some lovely ripe brie..

Also I have a chilled bottle of lovely English fizz for him and some lovely red wine.. so about half todays calories will be in booze

BUT I dont care! Life is for living.. and I will fast tomorrow and plan to not have anything until dinner and then only veg soup if I can

lrb978 · 21/02/2016 21:55

Day 5, 800 cals again, 1.5l of drink yesterday, am actually going to hit 2l today Shock. The hunger is mostly gone, although 'habit-eating' is trying to kick in - walked past the pre-prepared hot food counter earlier and was very very tempted (but resisted).

Even bigger Shock though, the scales this morning told me I was 85.5kg (or 13 st 6.5lb). I know I hadn't weighed myself before starting but I have spent about 6 months around the 14st 2lb mark, last weighed the 5th Jan at 14st 1lb, so that is a huge weight loss for me, and I have finally broken the 14st mark. I am over the moon and it is a big incentive to carry on. Lets see what next Sunday brings. (Don't feel any smaller, but as my boyfriend pointed out, it is the equivalent of about 4 bags of sugar I have lost, so it isnt a small amount, although I have a long way still to go).

Laska5772 · 21/02/2016 22:36

Not too bad. I looked at the plate of food I made and really couldnt eat it .. so probably only ate half ..The brie was really nice though, but again only a small bit - previously i might have eaten treble the amount.. cant say the same for the wine though Was a lovely celebration meal and DH loved it. Hopefully the scales will be kind to me tomorrow....

yumyumpoppycat · 21/02/2016 23:13

Wow great loss and good work on the 800 mcals LRB!

Well done Laska, sounds like a delicious and happy weekend. its funny how quickly we can get used to lower calories. I had 950 today but visualising the meals it was a fair amount of food, scrambled eggs and s salmon, open chicken and avo sandwich, 2 skinny lattes Blush and a piece of dark choc and chicken and veg stirfry. I will be surprised if I lost weight tomorrow but was out all day with the kids with a fair amount of walking so fingers crossed.

lrb978 · 21/02/2016 23:49

Sounds really nice laska, and as daft as it sounds a big achievement not being able to finish the plateful. I will keep my fingers crossed the scales are kind.

Thankyou yumyum, fingers crossed for you too.

lrb978 · 22/02/2016 07:08

Big challenge today, as I am back at work for the first time since starting the diet. Now to see if the 2 meals 16:8 pattern I have fallen into works on these days.

Hope everyone else has a good day xx

Not2bObvious · 22/02/2016 08:12

Well done laska! I'm envious of the Wine but not having it in the equation really helps. I walked to the chip shop last night to get supper for the rest of the family, walked back, dropped it in and walked around the block for 20 mins while they ate. Meaning I got my steps over the 10,000 and I wasn't tempted by chips & battered food. Very pleased with myself. I was

Not2bObvious · 22/02/2016 08:16

Oops hit post too soon, can't remember what I was saying 😁
Good luck lrb, I reckon work can be easier as long as you're kept busy. Although saying that I used to work in an office full of feeders. Those days are gone and even if they weren't this plan is so strict that I'm finding since I've really committed I just say no to things without it being a struggle. Long may it last eh? No move on the scales today, hardly surprising since it's down 5.2 pounds since last Tuesday. Today will complete my first week

BigChocFrenzy · 22/02/2016 10:27

Congrats on the SVs, lrb, Not2be Excellent start.
Do the 8 week course properly and you should see significant changes to your body.

Those who have been going longer, it's good to get in the mindframe for BSD maintenance later, so you don't waste your hard work.

OttiliaVonBCup · 22/02/2016 12:12

Halfway through the first day.

I had some ham and an oatcake, eggs tonight.

I think I will have to be better organised if I want to stick with it.

BigChocFrenzy · 22/02/2016 12:45

It's easier to plan and calorie count your meals for the next day in advance, at least until you get into a BSD rhythm

OttiliaVonBCup · 22/02/2016 12:47

I realise that, am sitting on the tube so have time and will have a good read of the book suggestions to plan for the rest of the week.

yumyumpoppycat · 22/02/2016 13:49

I sometimes enter a meal ahead on MFP and it does really help never thought about entering a whole day ahead!

STS today, fine with that.

Not2bObvious · 22/02/2016 18:33

Just under 900 cals and I've done around 11,000 steps. I'd like to be done eating for the day but I'm still feeling peckish - time to do something to distract myself with a craft & a fizzy water. Be great to end out week 1 on a good day

BigChocFrenzy · 22/02/2016 19:55

Hang in there Not2be Some tactics:
. You can pamper yourself with non-food treats, e.g. trimming & varnishing your nails, removing hair, a face mask.
. Clean your teeth to reduce temptation to eat again
. Have an early night and enjoy the extra zzzz.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 22/02/2016 20:54

I really find distracting myself from eating with some nice smelling hand cream or body lotion really works.

I find when having less choice with food I really appreciate 'feeding' my senses with nice smellies.

(I also have lots of weight to lose, 6st in total - 2 st done. And am really trying to moisturise my skin to help it cope with the loss - may not make a difference but worth a go!)

Not2bObvious · 23/02/2016 06:07

I pampered myself with crochet, ironing & putting the kids to bed😁
I did have an orange but I was still under 1000. I've no complaints
Right! So week 1 done, official loss
5.2lb, started last Tuesday at 12.2.6, now 11.11.4. I've sts for 3 days, I thought that would change this morning as I had a decent poo (sorry for tmi!) but no. I was thinking to myself I'll definitely see a drop but it was the same as the last 2 days. I'm very happy with it for a few reasons, it's a significant WL, I can feel it in my skinny jeans, and the fact it's maintained for 3 days means it's real - not a glitch. I also think taking into account my activity levels and low calorie intake, I'll get a decent loss over the next few days. If I could lose 2-3 this week, that would be perfect. I have another 3 weeks to go, I wanted a stone off as a start - may as well aim high - I've only 8.8lb to go. I have 4 days away then that will include alcohol but I'll still be sticking to low carb for the most part & lots of walking!
Bring on week 2😉

Obs2016 · 23/02/2016 06:19

Well done everyone, we are all doing so well.

I've been strict for the last 3 days. I don't feel any different, I can't feel that my body has changed, or that I've lost any weight, but we'll see.

I was reading the Mosley article again and it actually says to drink water, 2-3 litres. 2-3? I've been struggling to drink 2. I didn't know I was supposed to be drinking 3!
