Just wondering if anyone has tried this and how it went? I am about ten days in and coping well so far.

I have been low carbing for years on and off, and on 5:2 since Sept which seems to make the fasting easier.

Total lost now 4lbs. Yes, 4lbs in two days. I understand that this level of loss won't continue but I'm really motivated now!

Wheresthattomoibabber · 08/02/2016 10:32

Cider how scary. Go gently with yourself and perhaps concentrate on eating well rather than very low calorie?

yumyumpoppycat · 08/02/2016 12:31

Cider really really sorry to hear that but fingers crossed this planned treatment will head it off. Hopefuly it might actually be helpful to follow the BSD in one of its forms Flowers

2lb a day is amazing whats!

Laska just done shred how is that Level 1 Shock Defo evil. I think I might alternate it with some other easier workouts.

Wheresthattomoibabber · 08/02/2016 12:45

I may shred later. It's very painful effective.

Wheresthattomoibabber · 08/02/2016 18:50

Hmm. Didn't shred but today has come in at 775 cals. I made an epic Bolognese for supper: 1.1 kilos of veg and .5 k of minced beef. Really delicious and weighed it after cooking so I could calculate the calories per portion. Had a big bowl for 250cals with some parmesan on it. Can honestly say I am full and the kids enjoyed it. Have a portion in the freezer. I'm going to try to keep one calorie counted portion back of every family meal I cook so I can just grab something from the freezer in an emergency. Sorry if I'm posting lots but it's really helping!

Eva50 · 08/02/2016 19:23

That's day 1 done, 792 calories. I have just had eggs and mushrooms for dinner and feel quite full. I was quite grumpy between school pick up and dinner though. Reading of everyone's success on here is keeping me going.

Laska5772 · 08/02/2016 19:23

I shredded!! Grin.. didnt do all the star jumps though as slightly worried about bringing on the old back spasms again ,( especially as this is the first time I have done any exercise apart from hill walking - which i do most weekends- for about 18months Blush) so I did the arm movements the 2nd and thrid sets and marched at the same time, instead..

Was hard though, I think ill be doing level one for at least a couple of weeks I think, but hopefully will get better at it!

Hungry today as well. but staved it off with 10 almonds as a snack this afternoon, and so far so far I am 730 cals so still have a little leeway.. A having a sort of 'chicken beeny veggies curry/soupy' thing this eveing IFYSWM! As its only me here i can get away with one dish sloppy meals duringthe week! Grin

Actually its rather nice..

Pleased to report another lb off , thats 9 pounds now in under 2 weeks! ..

Wheresthattomoibabber · 08/02/2016 19:31

Well done guys! I love reading success stories too - mfp is good for inspiration.

Laska5772 · 08/02/2016 19:43

Well done Eva for your Day 1, keep posting!

Cider, yes , eating well, is the thing, .. fingers crossed for your treatment..

wheres I found it really useful to keep o posting when i did %:" and now ive got intop this , i'm remembering just how good it is to be part of a friendly supportive group.. so, yeah, keepposting also!!1

Yum yum. well done ...How are you feeling .. I found those last lunges/weights really hard..(but I did 'em!)

Am already feeling it in my arms and stomach though.. My legs are pretty strong due to all the walking I do ,

yumyumpoppycat · 08/02/2016 19:44

I am bfmummy on MFP if anyone BSD ing on here wants to friend me but only if you don't read today's diary entry Blush

Well done Eva and fab work on shredding Laska. Good idea to make a skinny bolognaise Where's.

yumyumpoppycat · 08/02/2016 19:51

My arms are a bit achey Laska. I am rubbish even the warm up arm swinging makes me creak! My thighs really hurt during the cycling ab exercise too but ok now. Not a big fan of crunches or pushups, or lunges, or star jumps... One good thing is that when I tried doing this back in the old 5:2 days my pelvic floor couldn't cope but I was fine with star jumps etc today ..hoorah!

elfycat · 08/02/2016 19:57

The book arrived yesterday and I've just finished day 1. I used 200cal meal replacement shakes as I hadn't been shopping but felt motivated. They're mentioned in the beginning of the book so I figure I'm OK to use them for the odd meal.

The bacon/avocado on gem lettuce was amazing. DD1 (7) tried a nibble and I ended up making her a batch as a part of her tea. Fish pie tomorrow.

I counted some of the steps on the school run and I think it's probably 1000ish one way without detours, but I always detour into the supermarket to pick something up, or round shops. I'm going to try adding a loop of a park into most days but I'm probably close to the number. Does anyone have a fitbit or similar?

I might add shredding if my post viral sinus thing/ cough calms down.

Non of this is motivated by the fact I'm going to a water park at the end of the half term it's actually motivated by wanting to buy a fab new dress for a friend's wedding

Laska5772 · 08/02/2016 20:53

hi elfycat (love your name) . yes i have a Fitbit HR , I bought it last Autumn and have worn it everyday since. Mine was bought 2nd hand on ebay, but I think they are definately worth the ££ new though for motivation . Its definately made me much more aware of what i do , and although ive always been a weekend walker , ive now started to do more during the week,

I work F/T , (no school run as my kids grown up) and have to drive to work as im a bit rural..

However ive found that i now get up from the desk and walk up to the 5th floor at least 3 or 4 times a day now (im on 1st floor and now make a point of using the 4th floor loo rather than ours !) , and go out for as long a walk as i can each lunch time, I usually easily make 10000 and very often more.. I have also gone out a few times in the evening to 'make up steps' and will definately do more when its lighter .. (a bit scary walking on our local roads in the dark as no lights or pavements and cars tend to go a bit fast )

The fitbit also links into MFP , ( and your phone if you have the right sort.. I dont!!) ,

BigChocFrenzy · 08/02/2016 22:27

That was obviously a horrible shock, cider
Well done for getting back on the BSD wagon
All the best Flowers

CiderwithBuda · 08/02/2016 22:53

Thanks all. Rubbish today though. Ate crap. Lots of it. No idea why. Might just concentrate on eating well as was suggested by Where'sthat. Did well until lunchtime then it went pear shaped.

Tomorrow is another day!

BigChocFrenzy · 08/02/2016 23:50

Cider Why not try Mosely's much gentler 5:2 version of BSD ?
That's 2 FDs on 800 cals BSD and eat BSD maintenance (roughly TDEE) the other 5 days.
It's slower than the 8 week crash BSD, but is a healthy sustainable longterm WOE.

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/02/2016 06:26

Sorry to hear that cider. I also think just eating well eg basing your meals around that pic of their favourite foods in the book is a great idea. Don't even try to count anything, mental well being is massively important so focus on that and be kind to yourself.

Yesterday I had sardine dip for lunch and courgetti prawns for dinner.

Eva50 · 09/02/2016 08:48

Day 2! I didn't sleep well and have a headache but I'm 3lbs down. I realise this is water but down is good whatever. I'm not hungry but feel a bit odd. I'm having a coffee and about to take ds3 to school then I'll go for a swim followed by brunch. Can't wait!

Wheresthattomoibabber · 09/02/2016 08:51

Well done! Nausea seems to have stopped for me today and I feel mentally sharp. Just going to weigh now. Am expecting to stay the same.

Wheresthattomoibabber · 09/02/2016 08:56

Another 1lb off!!! Am going to try to weigh every 2 days now as realised a disappointment on the scales would set me back when I'm feeling really positive about this.

EasilyFreudened · 09/02/2016 11:06

Hello everyone.

Delurking after trying this for a week. Started last Monday and weighed in yesterday...9lbs off!

Honestly shocked as I really haven't been hungry like on other diets. My body is starting to recognise when in actually hungry and like clockwork around breakfast, lunch and dinner the belly rumbles kick in.

I'm 35 and very overweight. I started at 18.4 and I'm 5"6. I'm struggling with keeping up with the kids, getting up off of the floor and I'm always out of breath climbing the stairs. Last Saturday I was lying with DS1 and broke his bed Blush.

I'm scared that I may end up with T2 and other problems if I don't battle it now. I used to get shaky and feel sick if I waited to eat. I couldn't control my eating and often ate in secret at night, easily consuming another day's calories.

This has been so easy so far, I've enjoyed the food and I've even been able to leave some on my plate by listening to when I'm full. It's quite the revelation!

I have found a few recipes I'd be happy to share.

I still need to start the exercise but one step at a time!

Sorry for the long post! Smile

Eva50 · 09/02/2016 11:41

EasilyFreudened 9lbs is brilliant and quite inspiring. I'm an older mother and have fibromyalgia/cfs and really feel that ds3 is missing out because I can't do things with him. Even at a healthy weight I imagine I will still be limited but who knows! It's bound to help. Also, being older, the chances of T2 are creeping ever closer.

BigChocFrenzy · 09/02/2016 11:52

Fantastic start, Easily and great that you feel so good on this BSD.
Sounds like you may have insulin resistance and even pre-T2, in which case this is exactly the diet for you.
Breaking your son's bed is the kind of shock / embarassment that can really motivate a major lifestyle change.

EasilyFreudened · 09/02/2016 11:52

Hi Eva

I do hope you get some kind of relief through your weightloss. My friend has fybromyalgia and it's awful what an impact it has on the lives of sufferers Flowers

Someone said up thread about imagining having that conversation with your GP if you got a T2 diagnosis and it scared me. It's something I would have done to myself.

How are you finding it so far?

EasilyFreudened · 09/02/2016 11:56

BigChoc my god it was mortifying. I cried for an hour on my own before sucking it up and deciding to change.

I haven't fallen asleep during the day once during the last week and no night time eating. I opened up to DH about the secret eating and he was surprised I'd stopped just like that as he thought it was a psychological thing and would be a hard habit to break.
