Hi there, Im one of the 'old original' 5:2ers who started way back in August 2012 and lost 24lbs..

I maintained for over a year and was active on the Maintainers thread , but sadly since last summer/Autumn, ive backslid.. Now I'm 12lbs up off my lowest weight again Sad

I know what to do , I know it works , but I can hardly say I should be on the 'maintainers' again. So im posting a new thread here , in the hope that I may find some other backsliders willing to recommit along with me before it's too late ..

Come and join me again before its too late.. We can regroup and get back on track.. I'm still managing to squeeze into my sz 10s (mostly) but I cant afford a new wardrobe, I dont want to buy a larger one.. and I certainly do want to get back to what I was (and maybe finish the job properly with another half stone off , so I can rejoin the Maintainers and comfortably say that this WOE is really this time going to stay with me for life..

So anyone with me? .. I have fasted today (first one for ages) .. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!

Morning all. Not quite sure when I'm going to fit in my FDs this week as out for meals on two evenings, and at an all day meeting, with lunch, on another. May do two of the days as evening meals only, to try to give body the effect of a fast, just not with the 500 cal evening option!
Not had a weigh in for a few days as suspect nothing's changed Smile

And well done molly, really good news and well done!

Not2bObvious · 08/12/2014 19:33

Well done Molly that's excellent! Your week sounds pretty challenging Dotty, I'd just make an effort to stay within tdee most days if you can - life happens and this isn't your normal "diet" so just live & enjoy. I've come in at around 700 cals, I don't know if I can manage 500 but if I can aim for 600-700 for FDs that's success in my book. I had hoped to get a decent walk today but damn work got in my way but at least it can me away from food! Nfd tomorrow, is it sad I'm looking forward to brekkie already? Scrambled egg I'm thinking, yummm

TheHoneyBadger · 10/12/2014 13:04

hi all.

i'm sort of fasting today -re: i haven't eaten yet and shall hold off a while yet. not sure if i'll stick to 500 or not.

what i have done is bought an exercise bike (much improved since my childhood i note) and am trying to regular bursts of activity. i've been reading studies that show there is no difference between doing say 30mins of exercise in one burst or over 3 ten minute slots in a day in terms of weight loss, body composition or cardio vascular improvements. i find it easier to motivate myself to do regular bursts than to face one long session of exercise so this is good news for me.

i've booked a holiday for january so am getting the bikini dread which may motivate me a bit.

hope everyone is doing ok.

Not2bObvious · 10/12/2014 17:26

Nice to have some company today Honey and I'm v interested to hear about the advancement in exercise bikes. I have a treadmill but I'd love something else to mix things up sez she who hasn't stepped near the aforementioned treadmill in month
I'm fasting today and because of 2 milky cappuccinos I've exceeded my 500 and is reckon I'm not quite done yet but that's ok, I think I'm still doing good. 2 weeks to Xmas, hoping to keep on track. Someone said I looked like I had lost weight so very encouragedGrin

Not2bObvious · 10/12/2014 17:31

How many weeks to you hols Honey? Be a major acheivment to aim for no gain over Christmas, that's my hope, get under 12 stone by Christmas Eve and be the same weight by the new year, it would be a first for me!

TheHoneyBadger · 10/12/2014 19:50

it shouldn't be any worse for me over christmas in theory not2b. there's just me and ds and no real socialising to be done this year.

well done on still feeling achievement despite missing the 500 mark - it has been freezing today which doesn't help sometimes.

i've done 3 little 2km slots on the bike throughout the day and one 5km stretch early evening whilst watching the simpsons with ds. may do another slot in a little while. the idea in my head is yes to do more exercise and burn cals doing it but also to boost my metabolism through the regular burst itms.

i didn't eat till about 3.30 when i had a protein snack so the little biking sessions through the day would have been fasted ones.

going to stay off the scales till saturday and see what they say.

sleep well x

TheHoneyBadger · 12/12/2014 10:47

well i managed a fast yesterday and that and a few days of exercising on my bike see the scales moving in the right direction again. please god let it continue - bloody bikinis!

how's everyone doing?

Not2bObvious · 12/12/2014 11:40

I'm still alive, just about! Has a Xmas party last night & my head is hanging off nowSad I've already eaten 800 cals and it's not even lunchtime! I think this weekend could a bit of a write off, to many outings planned. I've done my 2 fasts this week so hopefully they'll keep my weight the same. Over 3000 cals yesterday, feels like 2999 of them were alcohol! I hope there's not to many cals in nurofenGrin

Dotty342kids · 12/12/2014 16:14

honeybadger the short bursts of activity on the bike sound like a really manageable and good idea. Keep at it! Smile
As predicted, this week has been a write off with regards to eating out and changes to routine. However, next week I have got two FDs planned in and shopped for so should be ok.

Weirdly, I tried on a pair of slim fit trousers for a meal out on Tuesday and despite being too tight a couple of months ago, they were fine! So, think I may have lost an inch or two, if not actual weight, which is obviously nice.

not2obvious sounds like you're well and truly in the festive spirit! Hope the hangover is receding and you have a lovely, fruit and veg filled, weekend Grin

Not2bObvious · 15/12/2014 08:19

Morning all. Anyone joining me in a fast today, partake in the feast of fresh air?Grin
I have been a disgrace over the last 3 days but no shame, I knew it was going to be that way so aiming for a solid fast today, Wednesday and the a mini fast Thursday (1000) I am hopeful that should negate the many thousands of cals eaten/drank this weekend.
How's everyone doing?

Not2bObvious · 15/12/2014 08:20

Oh and great NSV Dotty, clothes fitting is the true sign of success, the scales is a mean old witch!

TheHoneyBadger · 15/12/2014 08:51

i'm going to do a long fast but no calorie count at the end i think and plenty of exercise.

Not2bObvious · 15/12/2014 09:53

Sounds like a good plan Honey, chances are just naturally you'll end up with a decent calorie deficit. I'm still not recovered enough to do more than walk, hoping to get a few miles under my belt this week, fitbit charged and ready to record

TheHoneyBadger · 15/12/2014 10:32

plan scrapped i'm afraid as just after posting i started having my scintillating scotoma (sp) business (like aura stage of a migraine) and now a nasty headache (loathe to say migraine because the ones i had when i was younger had me pinned to the floor for 48hrs whereas now just bad headache so far touch wood).

will do whatever my body wants me to do today. must remember to make a docs appointment as these are getting more and more frequent though touch wood a zillion times nowhere near as bad as they were in my teens.

good luck today not2.

Not2bObvious · 15/12/2014 14:36

You poor thing Honey, that's sounds awful!
Well I managed til 1pm then snaffled a few free sandwiches, so my fd is abandoned as well. Let's call this the mini fast day since I might still have a chance of keeping or to 1000, better luck Wednesday I hope

Dotty342kids · 15/12/2014 15:27

Out for girls book group Christmas dinner tonight so will be well and truly fasting tomorrow, to make amends for the delights I will be scoffing Grin

Anyone else on a FD tomorrow?

TheHoneyBadger · 15/12/2014 15:52

i hope i will be dotty - in which case we can share a bit of moral support.

enjoy your night out Smile

thanks Not2 - good luck with damage limitation. soup and an early night?

TheRealAmandaClarke · 15/12/2014 19:05

Hope you're feeling better honeybadger
Enjoy your meal out dotty

last week was shit. No Fds and definitely drinking too much Blush
This week better so far Grin
Managed a good fast today (one cup a soup thing) will aim to eat "mindfully" tomorrow and then another Fd on Wednesday.
The second one is tough though ime. One FD a week seems so easy (ish) two is much more challenging. I think its the evenings that floor me. Hey ho.
Good luck everyone. Well done molly

TheHoneyBadger · 16/12/2014 07:01

i do feel better thank you and for once i'm on the case with sorting things so off to opticians today to rule out eye issues and the doctors on thursday to talk about getting back on some preventative medication that used to work as i don't fancy this being an ongoing weekly occurrence and admit i'm a bit scared in case they start escalating back to nuclear level i used to have migraines at.

today will be a fast day and hopefully trips out to optician etc will help me get through it.

the realamanda how about spacing them out more? it might be the too close together that is making the second one hard? well done for yesterday. i'm glad we're over on this thread where wobbling is quite common Grin

TheRealAmandaClarke · 16/12/2014 07:38

Good luck with optician.
You are absolutely right. The close spacing does make it tougher.
Its a toss up between that and fasting on a non work day. I also find it tough when at home with the Dcs all day Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 16/12/2014 08:31

how about picking a non work day and making it mega busy? bundle them in a million layers and go to the park, walk to the shops, drive places, whatever? keeping busy helps i find.

it is a million times harder for me now that i work for myself from home than when i was working away from home i know! it used to be near 6 o clock by the time i got home and i was generally too knackered from walking and work to do more than eat a can of beans and collapse into bed Grin

what kills me at home is i do like an aperitif in the late afternoon - that's where my downfall lies.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 16/12/2014 18:15

Mm. Good idea. Its all in the planning.
Btw I know what you mean about afternoon aperitifs.

TheHoneyBadger · 16/12/2014 18:31

i did not fast today - we were out and about and ds declared he wanted a mcdonalds (the one where we were has a play area). given this happens once or twice a year if that i said yes and had a mchicken sandwich and fries.

i'm not doing great am i?

TheRealAmandaClarke · 16/12/2014 19:42

Yum.
I will give it a go tomorrow. Fancy it?
Fasting that is Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 16/12/2014 19:44
Grin

why is this hard? i used to find it easy?

i want to say yes i'll give it a go but feel doomed to fail. positive thinking eh? Wink
