Hi there, Im one of the 'old original' 5:2ers who started way back in August 2012 and lost 24lbs..

I maintained for over a year and was active on the Maintainers thread , but sadly since last summer/Autumn, ive backslid.. Now I'm 12lbs up off my lowest weight again Sad

I know what to do , I know it works , but I can hardly say I should be on the 'maintainers' again. So im posting a new thread here , in the hope that I may find some other backsliders willing to recommit along with me before it's too late ..

Come and join me again before its too late.. We can regroup and get back on track.. I'm still managing to squeeze into my sz 10s (mostly) but I cant afford a new wardrobe, I dont want to buy a larger one.. and I certainly do want to get back to what I was (and maybe finish the job properly with another half stone off , so I can rejoin the Maintainers and comfortably say that this WOE is really this time going to stay with me for life..

So anyone with me? .. I have fasted today (first one for ages) .. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!

evening all, happy weekends to you!

I've got a load of work trips / meetings / evening work events this week so FD for me today - it's my first Sunday FD and I actually quite like it.. I might try and fast on a Sunday whenever I can in future maybe even try one of Melanies back to backs, if I end up with a clear Monday.

Have had a few days of pig-and-wine-out, so glad I'm not getting on the scales any day soon.. I think I might weigh every fortnight; that might work out better for me.

Hope all is well, and good to luck to those fasting tomorrow.

xxxxx

Ok .. So wasnt it me that started this thread and then skulked off Blush ??

Yup! but I'm back! lots of fast fails and a holiday later and im still no neare rthan my goal I set in July.. double Blush.

But after scary post holiday WI (11.3! ShockShockShock) ,and then putting away my summer clothes (and finding that lots of my winter ones dont fit anymore) . I've just pulled myself together and done 2 fast days back to back. . .and I'm telling myself I have to lose at least 14lbs again..

2 years ago after a few months of 5:2 I celebrated my December birthday at 10st .. I'd love to do that again (or at least 10.2)..
(also I used to be on th e 'maintainers' and I want to post there again!)

So my plan is now called.. 'Operation Fast14' and my challenge is to lose that December ..

Ill be doing 4:3 again as this worked well fro me before So no more shilly shallying around Laska .. IM BACK and il be posting to keep accountable ..

Dotty 342kids I remember you from way back when also, Hi there!

Oh laska it's good to have you back! You're the same weight as me so we should work on this together Smile. I never got down as low as you though, 10st 3lbs was my lowest and that was a good place for me. I too am aiming for Christmas party season. Though I'm not brave enough for 4:3, so it'll be 5:2 with the occasional third day thrown in if it fits.

I'm still utterly failing to get back on track. More and more actually I think it's overeating on NFDs that's the problem so after today's FD I'm going to get back into MFP'ing my days to help keep track.
Last year's loose clothing is now this year's "only just fitting" clothing and none of it looks as good as it did this time last year.

No more excuses, no more stuffing food in mindlessly, willpower and determination are required Grin

MelanieCheeks · 14/10/2014 12:21

Mmmmm miso soup! I got seduced by the fancy red and yellow varieties on offer in Tesco, but tbh I prefer the "ordinary" wakame one. It's cheaper and has fewer calories too.

I'm planning on trying a Gok Wan recipe this evening - steamed pork dumplings in cabbage leaf wrappers. The only thing is, there are very photos in Gok's book, so I'm never sure if I'm doing it right.

ItsaboatJack · 14/10/2014 13:23

Hi Laska, glad to see you back.

I lost 1.5lbs this week. I only did 2 FDs last week so I'm happy with that Smile

Two more weeks of 4:3 planned then I'm off to the states for a week. We're going to the USA Grand Prix for my 40th birthday pressie, even though it's not actually my birthday until next year.

Dotty342kids · 14/10/2014 13:55

ooh, well done itsaboat, great news!
Just think, by the time you go you might have lost almost half a stone Smile

I am STARVING at the moment. Someone please stop me thinking about food Grin

ItsaboatJack · 14/10/2014 14:54

Stop thinking about food!

Dotty342kids · 14/10/2014 15:03

Thanks! Just had a glass of diet coke to make me feel as though I've had something. Out to do school run shortly, then will be busy sorting kids out and their tea, then out to toning class so fingers crossed I'll be ok Smile

ItsaboatJack · 14/10/2014 16:13

I've finished early today so have picked up the dd's from school, now we're watching Lego Movie to try and distract me through this hunger pang. I did the exercise bike earlier for 40 mins, and have a big pile of ironing to keep me busy this evening.

Dotty342kids · 14/10/2014 16:37

Good luck itsaboat, we can do this Grin

Laska42 · 14/10/2014 19:55

Hi again. well im feeling positive! 2 days at just about 500 and today a NFD having had scrambled eggs for brekkie ,and some of my lovely roasted carrot tomato and pepper soup for lunch (on the recipe board .. Its nice to 'rediscover' all my old 5:2 recipes again but these days i usually leave out the lentils ) .

Have just had a small steak and some carrot and pumpkin seed salad for dinner . So am under TDEE but am keeping it low as have a celebration meal out later on this week and want to indulge...

dott342 yup we are both over 11 again it seems Sad .. but we WILL do it again!

Itsaboat US Grand Prix sounds exciting ..but mind those 'all you can eat diners!'. I went to the US a few years ago now , Mid West -Milwaukee Wisconsin - supposedly the 'cheese state', Illinois and Iowa, and, My,... you should have seen the size of some of the people there!

Melanie .. I love Miso soup .. usually get the paste brown rice version..
one of my favourite things on FDs (or was I must have it again soon,) is stir fried king prawns and broccoli with miso and chilli.. I found that strong and hot flavours really helped on Fds , How was the Gok recipe ? Fancy posting it on the recipe thread?

Hi Laska

Glad to see you back in the zone again - I was just about to PM you!

Didn't I tell you not to step away from this thread? [smackedwrist]

If you do fall by the wayside, it's best to come on here and own up to it - then it's in the past. If you stay away it becomes much easier to get into bad habits.

Also - whenever you refuse that biscuit - or whatever - it becomes easier to go without it next time.

If you do succumb - it becomes easier to do so again.

It's all about setting up virtuous circles!

But you all know this - it's about remembering it at the right time!

(Before you go the the US, Itsa! You hear me? Grin)

Nice to see you again!

Dotty342kids · 15/10/2014 10:08

Good grief. Got on the scales this morning and they said 10st 13lbs - that's 4 gone since Monday which can't possibly be right Grin but hey, it gave me a shot of motivation which is always welcome!

Yesterday was a FD and broken my fast this morning with some banana and natural yoghurt. Beans on toast for lunch then home made chicken nuggets with wedges and peas for tea. Fairly sure that'll bring me in within my TDEE which is good news.
Then FD again tomorrow. Actually looking forward to Friday's weigh in now!

bbcessex · 15/10/2014 13:02

hello hello all.. sounds like everyone is doing pretty well.

Dotty - blimey, 4lbs, that's a result! happy days :-)

I'm doing my FDs just to keep on track at the moment... I've completed all my FDs but have way over-indulged on NFDs as I'm away a lot.. ah well, slowly slowly I guess...

Dotty342kids · 15/10/2014 13:27

I'm not convinced the scales were working correctly Grin. I'll report back on Friday about that one. FD again tomorrow

Chocupid · 15/10/2014 22:13

Hello all, nice to have lots of people here now, good to see you back on form too Laska

Been AWOL myself after loosing bugger all for months and sulking!

I was sabotaging on NFD's so a change of plan was needed, I'm trying to eat the paleo way on NFD's if I can get my head around it, anyone else do it/help?

Seems to be working tho I've had 3 FD's In the last 2 weeks and I'm down from 9.13 to 9.9, and there's definitely less bloat!

Congrats and Well done all who are back 'on it', wow Dotty that's incredible.

Will fast tomorrow too as I'm out Friday and Saturday for meals, it's good to have something to look forward to and eat without guilt when you have banked a few FD's.

Dotty342kids · 16/10/2014 10:37

Hmm chocupid scales today, after a NFD yesterday were back to 11st 1.
I'll see what tomorrow's weigh in looks like before I get too pleased with myself and go on a chocolate binge (usual bad habit)!

How's the fast day going so far? I've just done a dancefit class and have got a ginormous tray of tomatoes, garlic and red onion roasting in the oven, ready to be turned into a soup later Smile

Chocupid · 16/10/2014 11:05

Ooh that soup sounds lovely Dotty
not hungry yet so all good have a banana, nuts and Ham salad on me for work in case I'm tempted, but jealous of your warming soup now... Still at least the sun is out!

Dotty342kids · 16/10/2014 12:30

The trouble with roasting veg in the morning is that the lovely smell is just everywhere and I can't eat until approx. 7pm. Aaargh!

Laska42 · 16/10/2014 12:40

dotty342 Scales are utter pigging beasts dont you find? .. but I quite liked mine this morning as they said mine said 11.1 (and a quarter) this morning. ( 11.4 on Sunday morning Shock - I didnt admit that before, did I? ) Another FD today and I'm hoping they wont go up again inthe morning..

Soup is definately the way to go, and Dotty If you add a couple of carrots 2 red peppers a chilli and some rosemary and thyme to that roast, you'll have my special soup that I posted about above !

2 Eggs for me this morning ( woke up with a headache and felt like I needed a bit of protein with my coffee ) and having stirfry veggies with a small bit of salmon this evening.. cant wait..

Talking of soup , when I was in France my friend made a really lovely clear soup of chicken leek and herbs which was super tasty .. (she did put potato in hers though). Im going to have a bit of a modify for 5:2 on the recipe over the weekend and if succesful I'll post it.

Laska42 · 16/10/2014 12:57

Howdy B&W yup I needed that smackwrist.. glad to see you are still doing well , How are you? (PM me anyway?)

Dotty342kids · 16/10/2014 13:16

Ooh, thanks for the heads up re. soup. Always like to add new variations to make something nice (there's a red pepper in mine too, I forgot to say!).

Your day's food sounds nice, good to start the day off with eggs I always think, lovely and filling.

Look forward to the chicken, leek and herb soup recipe Smile

Laska42 · 16/10/2014 19:26

I've had to reconsider my FD dinner .. ( at home today and have been mega cleaning the house as we have weekend guests so been much more active than my usual desk-bound- FD ).. Got so hungry at 4pm, i thought id expire, so i had a packet of sweet chilli beetroot which took the edge off it until dinner time (yes, I know I'm weird Grin) .

Turns out that was 90 cals ( Myfitness pal is so great , dont you think?) so have had to ditch the planned salmon (not literally, its in the fridge_) as it would have taken me over ..

And So (and I realise you are ALL on tenterhooks wanting to know what Laska is having for her dinner Wink) ...Ta DA! .. Stir fry veg cooked in stock with giner and garlic, toasted sunflower and black mustard seeds, soy sauce and a drizzle of chilli sesame oil .

Oh and its so yum.. and a huge bowl for only 226 cals! (less than the salmon would have been on its own ...preen).. the seeds really make it taste special .. Ill definately be making this again

OP posts:
Laska42 · 16/10/2014 19:36

... and getting some toothpicks also (seeds ..) Hmm
