Starting off a new thread for 2025 now that both organisations have opened applications for next season!

DD (16) got Fame ensemble! She is pleased. She said she was competing with 20 year olds for the main roles so feels it is an achievement.

(For those who were commenting on people changing dates etc - DD was supposed to go on a ski trip during the recalls but chose to attend the recall instead. Luckily I was able to swap her ticket to her brother for a small fee so didn't lose too much money. MT is her absolute passion so wanted to give her the opportunity)

Keepcominghome · 21/02/2025 17:04

DS has an offer for a new musical workshop residential at Easter after callback for a show - he enjoyed a different NYMT new musical workshop last year but is it just me that feels it’s quite expensive for five days? We live in London so non residential would have been fine and could have felt more affordable …. He’s not sure whether he’ll accept tbh. I don’t know if they build decline assumptions into the offer numbers.

Lionelblair · 21/02/2025 17:08

Well done to DD, was clearly worth changing the ticket!

@Keepcominghome they don't factor decline into offer numbers but will have a reserve list and offer spaces to others if the right opportunity opens up. DC's first casting came a week after we initially had a no.

Lovely news x

Mcmumager · 21/02/2025 17:28

Dc has a part in lightening boy. Congratulations to all those with places and to those who didn’t get the news they wanted I know how tough it is and it doesn’t get any easier. I think on this page we’ve all been there know how hard it is 💕

LibbyRuncie · 21/02/2025 17:31

Amazing! How old is your DD? X

sleepisoverrated1 · 21/02/2025 17:36

Disappointed DS sadly. He was recalled for 2 shows but got a non-residential workshop which is just not workable for us sadly. He wasn't well on audition day so it's not really a surprise not to get a show, but he's gutted to not be able to do it at all. Roll on next year and congratulations to all the successes; they're in for a treat!

Kittykat57 · 21/02/2025 17:42

@sleepisoverrated1 big hugs to your DS but well done to him on his workshop offer. Is it worth asking if there is a an alternative option if someone drops out ?

Thank you. I've emailed to explain why we've turned it down but not asked explicitly. I'm hoping they'll come back to us if something turns up!

Re the ‘invite only’ skills courses offered after the recall instead of what they were recalled for - are these a different level to what would have been offered for those not getting recalled at all/ non-audition public signing up? It just seems expensive if its an ‘open to all’ course, rather than specifically for those who got recalled but isn’t get through this year so not sure whether we should sign up or not. Appreciate any advice from all you wise people as this is our first year and we’ve gone into it a bit blind!

Montimom · 21/02/2025 18:03

Well done to everyone who received offers and happy and big hugs to those who didn’t quite get what they wanted.

Mixed emotions here, DS delighted with his workshop offer but DD unable to accept as offered non residential workshop during our school term and right before her exams! Just not possible for us to make it work.

Dramamum08 · 21/02/2025 18:17

Has anyone’s kid not had an email at all from callbacks??? Asking for a friend 🙄

Mumster40 · 21/02/2025 18:21

@Montimom that's really tough. Hopefully they can swap her to another workshop?
Re. workshops - are there materials to learn ahead of the week?
Are they cast in advance or worked out during the week?

Mummycat53 · 21/02/2025 18:30

Is anyone else still waiting to hear?

Mumster40 · 21/02/2025 18:55

It's got to be good news that you haven't heard. Keeping everything crossed for you x

That’s so kind. Thank you. We were excited and now we just think she’s been forgotten. 😬

Biscuitsneeded · 21/02/2025 19:57

Aaaah! I had a really busy day with lots of driving and couldn't log on until now. Huge congrats to everybody who got something they wanted - lovely to hear of happy DC. To those who got something different to what they wanted, we know how the disappointment feels, but do consider your offer because if your DC enjoyed the auditions/recalls, it's likely they would love a course or a workshop just as much.

To anyone who hasn't heard, check your junk carefully, give it an hour or so and then I would advise emailing just in case something has gone astray.

HanD31 · 21/02/2025 20:34

Sending hugs to those with disappointmented kids. It’s tough. Like it’s been said above… we all know how it feels and have walked that path with our kids. Tough on parents too. Hope you all hear soon.

@EweCee - can I ask how much the skills courses for auditionees invited to a casting workshop is? For DD who was not invited to a casting workshop, it's £800 for a residential skills course, so not exactly cheap.

I'm sure PP on this thread said those skills workshops are more advanced level.

Also not sure why an advanced level course offered to kids following the casting workshop would be more expensive than one that they offer to kids who didn't get a casting workshop. They still need to hire the venue, do a load of admin, provide food and all the pastoral support, pay all the tutors etc. Unless you think they pay tutors more to teach advanced skills than they pay them to teach less advanced?
