Break a leg to mini @doesanybodyhaveamap and anyone auditioning in the first lot of auditions. Luckily dd has a local audition in next couple of weeks for Shrek and she reaalllllyyy wants to be Princess Fiona so going to NYMT seems less important to her this year at the moment!!!

Break a leg everyone in the first set! We’re at Newcastle this year, so looking forward to a day out there instead of Leeds 😁

Newbie here! Just booked my dd (13) first nymt audition for 2nd Feb.

Not sure what I’m hoping for as we can’t afford it really (but not eligible for any help)….

would mean some serious fundraising! Eek!

@ZooKeeper123 Welcome to the waiting room! Glad to hear your DD is auditioning. See how it goes, and worry about finances when you see what you're looking at! The first year my DS auditioned I had nothing saved because I didn't expect him to get in - we had to do a lot of fundraising. It was totally worth it, though. Break a leg to your DD and let us know how the audition goes.If you have any Qs in the meantime there are plenty of 'veteran' parents in the waiting room.

Hopefully together but dd hasn’t been too well - feeling better now but not well enough to sing but hopefully ok for the weekend and hoping ds hasn’t caught. Also bit panicky about floods/forecast snow- thankfully the 11am start is better. Is your ds auditioning @Biscuitsneeded?

Hi @Biscuitsneeded I will let you know! I’m hoping the weather doesn’t stop us going- forecast not too good. Has anyone had to cancel an audition before- do they allow a different venue?

I think it was 2 years ago a set of recall auditions coincided with a storm & flooding that affected all the trains etc. they did put something in place for those who couldn’t get there.

@Alakazam8 is your dd going to Manchester? I’m on weather watch too.

We're auditioning in Manchester too. I've booked a train from Buxton but am fretting that either I won't get to Buxton or the train won't make it across the hills. Keeping everything crossed that the weather gods are kind!

@sleepisoverrated1 we are coming from Derbyshire through the peak too. I did look at trains today too so it might be an option! Got to do the journey again Tuesday for an early flight from
Manchester so hoping the forecasts are making it sound worse than it is!

Hi @ZooKeeper123, welcome! For my DS’s first year this was us too! We just about managed the second year but if he’s successful this time we will also be fundraising again. It’s so worth it, though!

It’s hard isn’t it! I’ve said she can’t do any of the local shows she’d normally do or go on the school choir trip (I might struggle to follow through with this one 😩) if she gets in. Although I’ve just had a brainwave that I might be able to pay some using my small business 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ll have to speak to the accountant if it is needed!

I think as it's early on, if you have problems due to weather they'd do their best to accommodate you on another day elsewhere. Or maybe they'd accept a self-tape. But I'm sure you'd much rather just get to Manchester! Fingers crossed the weather gods are kind.
