Starting off a new thread for 2025 now that both organisations have opened applications for next season!

Oh that sounds reassuring. She brought a second piece in the end but she hasn't played it for a couple of months!

Hello to all the old and new faces in here!! Only just found you all ❤️ Well done to everyone’s dc who have auditions and all those who have been recalled! That is amazing . DD and DS both came out happy from their auditions today so fingers crossed now for some positive news later in the week 🙏

I think the problem ultimately is that we are all looking to read something in to the wording of everything in these processes - and different words mean different things to different people.

In this case, is IS a casting workshop - nowhere does it say everybody gets in though... That's not the norm - and would never work here because they frequently recall for more than one project. BYMT are very unusual in doing it the way they do, and unfortunately it's not what NYMT do so as Biscuits said, you either get in to that show, or you get offered something else. Which could be a skills course, a new musicals workshop or (last year, because it was created later) a concert. This year the concert (Crescendo) seems to have its own recalls/casting workshops.

It probably was clearer when they called them recalls or finals etc - but I think a lot of the talk last year, spread by chinese whispers/social media that if you got a recall you were in, really hasn't helped - as they never actually said it, we just all hoped it was true 😂 Here's hoping it all goes well for those attending them next month - i truly hate this next phase of waiting!

My YP was asvised thaf BYMT she will hear about BYMT outcome on 28 Feb. In BYMT if you get selected from the initial auditions what is your likely path? As in does everyone get a role or ?

BYMT results usually come show by show over a few weeks. That's good if they are saying late Feb. No recalls for BYMT; they will either say you have a show (for which actual roles will be decided either at a casting session later in Spring/early summer or at the start of the residential), or you get put on a waiting list, or you get a no thanks.

Day 1 of waiting and I’m already biting my nails 🤪

DD is applying for first time to NYMT and did the Glasgow audition. I think she found it quite intimidating initially as she was asked to sing first being an older one (17) and fluffed it. She got the chance to start again though and thoroughly enjoyed the day. We are now considering BYMT but I'm unsure whether to wait on results from NYMT (though it looks unlikely to be positive). Are the auditions likely to fill up and we'll miss a place as they're still advertising them all?

I wouldn't worry unduly about the fluff. If your DD got the chance to sing again and it went better, I'm sure she'll be judged on that. NYMT understand that people are nervous and want to give people chances to show what they can do. As poster above said, you should hear in the next few days anyway whether your DD is invited to the casting days. No doubt people will be posting on here as the news comes out! I think they usually say expect to wait a week for results, but hopefully that means end of the weekend at the latest. I'm glad your DD enjoyed her audition.

Lightning Boy and Fame recall for us! Very exciting. Now just have to sort the travel and worry about getting back for college as my DS doesn’t break up till 21st February

Oh brilliant! Congratulations to him! We got Sunday. I’ve emailed asking if we can change to the Saturday if at all possible because there are basically no trains on a Sunday from up north and obviously he’s supposed to be in college on the Monday and Tuesday
