A clear case of what the computer says rather than common sense applying it to classes and events

Yes - last year the ABs and para were totally different heats as well.

They still have their own MC finals.

But often it’s integrated so for it not to be last year was actually different for us.

Glittertwins · 15/04/2025 09:12

We’re here with the obligatory loot!

Good luck for the final! Not the best time for ours but moved up a substantial number of places compared to where he was seeded so he’ll take that!!

It was a good swim!! Always good to move up the rankings!

We are back at the hotel now and ds is eating - again 😂😂
Tonight’s final will be a close call - he’s looking forward to it!

Madcats · 15/04/2025 18:15

Good luck to notvery miniweird.

It’s been nice to look through the listings and recognise some local names (even a couple of former club members).

Good luck to the plucky 16 year old who has absolutely mad times for the womens’ 1,500m. One to watch if she doesn’t get injured.

Amelie wiped the floor with everyone on the 1500m a couple of years back too, she’s really good.

Well done @itsgettingweird.

Thanks. Very surprise result and he stills absolutely full of adrenaline now. He’s having a bath having inhaled his dinner 😂

His interview cracked me up- but that’s just what he’s like in RL. Very dry sense of humour. 😂🫣

Glittertwins · 16/04/2025 04:28

it was a great response, very succinct!

”How was that”

“painful”

😂😂😂😂

He’s forever honest 🫣😆

whereonthestair · 16/04/2025 08:32

well done @itsgettingweirdand great response

Porseb · 17/04/2025 14:46

I’m in Belfast for those thinking of unis here.

The swimming I think is quite sociable as I know some of the students who run the uni clubs and they take part in Irish varsities which aren’t as competitive as BUCS.

The more competitive swimmers attend BUCS.

Glittertwins · 17/04/2025 20:46

Double champ - well done “mini” weird!

At some point Weird ought to write their DS swim story.

Not yet, but I remember your posts from the pre-lockdown years when I’d do the occasional post.

itsgettingweird · 17/04/2025 22:12

Thanks. That was a surprise win than- more than the 400! Another pb to win gold which was nice.

mad was it swimming posts if the whole knife attack in the classroom at school debacle?
Pre Covid ds wasn’t classified and didn’t have a diagnosis until not long before. Back in the day when he was being scratched from L3 meets and the ones he did attend he’d be hidden under a towel with ear defenders on!

Times have certainly changed since then! Swimming saved him and that’s what drives me to keep getting out of bed at 4am 😂

Madcats · 18/04/2025 08:04

Weird I was thinking more of his trials and tribulations of getting a classification/switching clubs etc. I don’t recall the knife incident (no need to repeat that).

Congrats on the 2 golds and I hope you have some relaxing time planned this Easter.

itsgettingweird · 18/04/2025 08:18

It’s been a long old journey. The leaving school was part of it . He said “I just want to swim”. It was the most true and honest thing he’s ever said in his life because I’m not sure even he realised how much!!!!

Day off today but he’s shattered so wants to chill, stretch and sleep. 50m free tomorrow.

I’m figuring out what I’m going to do. I’ll Google local things or do another mammoth walk around Olympic park with my headphones on 😂🤷‍♀️

Locallassie · 18/04/2025 09:43

Was just incredible to watch him last night and feel that I knew a bit of his story! Well done to him!
Our small club has one swimmer in London this week and I know quite a few of the others who are there so watching keenly. We are recovering from the ups and downs of snags and exam revision very much the priority with exams starting next week but it’s nice to have swimming on in the background!!

Madcats · 19/04/2025 10:20

Weird the Lizzie line can whisk you into town pretty quickly. Otherwise, how about an hour or two in the Museum of London Docklands (5-10 min walk from Canary Wharf Lizzie exit).

It’s not too tricky to get to Greenwich either.

Hope it goes well today.

Glittertwins · 19/04/2025 19:57

What a swim, he’s got to be happy with that!

OP posts:
itsgettingweird · 19/04/2025 21:15

Yeah he is but in true swimmer style came out and said “that was
my fastest breakout but my finish wasn’t the best!” 🤷‍♀️😂

home tomorrow for 9 days before he goes to France for classification review

itsgettingweird · 20/04/2025 16:42

We are home. Absolutely shattered and on my second batch of washing 😂

Thanks for all the supportive messages throughout the week.

itsgettingweird · 29/04/2025 06:52

Well ds is off again.

Feel like I’ve spent the weekend unpacking properly from London and repacking him to go away again - probably because I have 🤷‍♀️😂

Dad’s just picked him up to take him to Manchester airport and he flies at 3.15pm. I collect him Monday.

Glittertwins · 30/04/2025 11:52

How long before he knows it’s successful?
