It is great they are moving to Easter though I did see that for a small handful of kids (Year 11) that may not work which is a shame.

allhailthebrain · 27/08/2021 01:12

So sorry to hear White Bear was pulled. It's all so difficult at the moment isn't it! I hope they all manage to make it at Easter.

We're just going through the post-show mourning period here, after 3 weeks of such intensity, home is, well... not home any more! He wants his 50 friends back please, and the place he can be himself... He'll be back, let's hope next time covid worries won't be so real for all x

Mcmumager · 27/08/2021 02:13

So very sad to see the show cancelled- so sad for the cast and creatives involved but glad they will get to go ahead at Easter.

My daughter was offered this show but the dates didn’t work. She however tested positive a couple of days before it was due to start so wouldn’t have made it anyway!

So pleased my ds got his time in Peter Pan although I think our stay in Torquay started the spread of covid in our family! Worth it though for the amazing time he had.

Congratulations to all those who’ve performed this summer!

Biscuitsneeded · 27/08/2021 22:25

Glad a second time slot has been found for the White Bear company. I think if they really want to do it they will make time at Easter despite GCSE or A level revision! Traditionally NYMT has 2 residentials - a week at Easter and 10 days in summer before the show week. I honestly think the kind of kids who want to dedicate their lives to performing will be willing to spend their other Easter week revising and still do just as well as the kids who stay at home for two weeks kidding themselves they are working but actually phone scrolling or playing Fifa!

We saw The last day of the war in Margate BYMT - a wonderful show and such a talented cast. Lovely old theatre too.

Just been watching on Insta. One of DD's friends is the young man who played the serviceman jitterbugging and throwing girls around. He is an awesome dancer. It was very sad for the cancelled show, but for those that have gone ahead it has been the most awesome season for both BYMT and NYMT.
Newgirls · 28/08/2021 21:38

Yes the dancing was very strong - by all of them. I did wonder if they were chosen for their dance ability. Wonderful singing too

He was originally on why the whales came, but couldn't make the dates. So difficult to know.
Newgirls · 29/08/2021 10:13

It was an older cast by the looks of the pics of the other shows - appropriate for the parts I think

Great to think it’s worth doing right up into your 20s at college or whatever

Mcmumager · 29/08/2021 10:36

We will be needing a new thread for 2022 auditions soon!!

Is anyone going to do the BYMT online auditions this year? My ds would rather hold off for face to face for both NYMT and BYMT if they are happening.

Biscuitsneeded · 29/08/2021 21:18

Congratulations to all on very successful 2021 seasons against all the odds! I am sure the White Bear company will do an amazing job next Easter. I think it is testament to both companies that they were determined to go ahead this year, and they dealt so well with the inevitable setbacks. I'm feeling quite emotional about it all today having seen NYMT's final show last night! No doubt there will be news later in the Autumn about the shows for the 2022 season - looking forward to finding out. I think DS will be praying for in person auditions!

chaperonemum · 25/10/2021 19:17

Who's already booked their DCs next audition?

doesanybodyhaveamap · 25/10/2021 19:49

Hi @chaperonemum !! Waiting on NYMT audition info here - having done both last year DD has decided to put all her eggs in the NYMT basket this year. Can't wait to hear about what they have planned for 2022!!

@doesanybodyhaveamap DD too!

Lonecatwithkitten · 26/10/2021 12:10

We would n't be doing either this year as DD is auditioning for the degree courses and just feel that with all that prep BYMT/NYMT would just be too much.
What I would say for others interest is that her college principal and other staff at college have encouraged her to include a lot about BYMT on her personal statement.

Biscuitsneeded · 26/10/2021 13:07

Waiting for NYMT to announce auditions here. I'm sure DS will want to audition if he can.

Mcmumager · 26/10/2021 13:32

My ds will audition for both. He had the time of his life at BYMT last year but think still feels he wants a go at NYMT after not getting to do his show with them in 2020. He wants to do live auditions. Not sure if dd will audition as she is going to a summer school postponed from 2020!

Mcmumager · 26/10/2021 14:09

Are the BYMT casts doing the let it snow show in December? Just hope things go ahead with the rising cases.

chaperonemum · 27/10/2021 20:14

@doesanybodyhaveamap what did your DD prefer about NYMT?

doesanybodyhaveamap · 27/10/2021 20:26

@chaperonemum NYMT was a lot more structured which worked better for her and as a musician with NYMT she felt like a core part of the company, whereas with BYMT she felt a bit on the outside. That's not to say she'd never do it again- for musicians, once you are in the musician pool you stay in with BYMT so there'll always be a show if she wants one. But she isn't so keen to audition as actor for them whereas for NYMT she will try any and all avenues to get back in!! Hunchback was an extraordinary experience though. It's set the bar pretty high...

And Paintyed Pigeon! 😄
DalekFan · 28/10/2021 16:27

Can anyone advise on the format of Let It Snow?

minimits · 28/10/2021 17:38

Hi DalekFan-what usually happens is the cast members rehearse together during the day-usually they do two-three songs from their show but I am aware there are more shows this year so format might not be the same. They then rehearse a couple of xmas songs which all the casts sing together at the end. In between each cast’s songs there is usually a brief video of their musical.
Hope that makes sense!
