I've just written to my MP. They can't lose another season, they just can't. Absolutely no grounds for it now most adults are vaccinated. There is no scientific basis for this ridiculous limit on singing vs drinking in a pub all evening, travelling on a plane (with god only knows what variants!) or people yelling and singing at a sports match or singing along at an indoor concert. Utterly ridiculous. This is our version of elite sports training. It has to resume.

Nothing yet here. And opportunities are getting reduced too if they are having castings for those who already have places on shows over half term. We were late to the party so it’s understandable I guess.

So we had a message from
Frances at BYMT earlier in the week saying we should have outcomes by the end of the week. I’d have taken that to be Friday.

Did anyone else hear anything? How unlucky would we be to have another ‘No’ email go missing 😂😂

@Mcmumager my ds auditioned for BYMT on 9th May and is still waiting to hear. We also has a no email go missing for NYMT 😳. We really need to know as his school is chasing us to arrange dates for his gold DofE expedition- I really hope we hear soon!

Dates of my dd's show in Plymouth have shifted forward one week, as the theatre couldn't honour the original dates, but luckily there are no clashes so she can still do it!!

@Jojoscircus my DD auditioned on 25 Apr and still waiting to hear too. They still have auditions until 20 Jun so I can't see them making decisions until they have seen everyone. Very frustrating as we need to make plans for the summer and everything is on hold.

I guess it’s even worse for those who auditioned earlier in the year and are on reserve.

Frances did say last week they were hoping to have results out last week but then nothing arrived. Not sure if we will hear anything this week with holidays.

Just popped on to see if there was any more news. I really hope all of you waiting for BYMT news hear soon. Might be worth a phone call if they said by end of last week? It's not half-term for grown ups, so no reason for the office not to be running!

@Mcmumager yes totally agree, keeping a reserve list then adding extra audition dates must be like a kick in the teeth. Fingers crossed the reserves all get offered something.

I emailed last week and haven't heard back. We are based outside of the mainland UK so have to factor in booking flights.

@feelinhopeful gosh that’s tough trying to factor in flights etc especially at the moment.

I spoke to Frances at BYMT yesterday and she said she’s hoping to get the results out by the end of this week or middle of next week at the latest. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Peter Pan workshop in progress in my living room, frankly bloody amazing to hear DD sing legit again.
For those still waiting to hear on auditions Peter was filled last year and I think only a couple of people dropped out of the small cast. In previous years everyone on the reserve list has got a place even when they have added extra auditions ( this happened to DD in 2019 and 20).
Admin always appears a little chaotic, but care on shows and experience has been amazing.

OMG we had a double bill in the West End yesterday! Les Mis Staged Concert and The Show Must Go On. Was absolutely incredible to be back 'in the room where it happens' and I cried a lot... DD is on fire and cannot wait for the summer! Both shows had the musicians on stage so clearly visible. Was wonderful. Do watch the streamed TSMGO this week, it was joyous and uplifting and emotional and hilarious in equal measure. Our industry is THE BEST.

I’ll never forget Songs for a New World last year. After being starved of theatre the atmosphere was electric.

Ds and a friend from college are travelling down to London next weekend for a two show day of Jamie & Six.

So, it seems that DD’s ambitions to go across to Germany to work on the massive number of MT shows across there needs to be shelved. She needs to look towards Norway, Iceland & Liechtenstein instead!

Did anyone watch The Shows Must Go On tonight?

Yes, we watched it. Nice to see NYMT represented there several times over! I think something was a bit off with the sound at first but it definitely improved. Was lovely to watch them doing what they do best and to see those happy faces in the graduate choir!

NYMT- saw on Twitter they are still looking for double bass and horn players for Henrietta.

BYMT- do you think tomorrow counts as “middle of next week at the latest” 😂😂

Hope those still waiting for BYMT results get them today 🤞🤞🙏

All I can say is everyone waiting for BYMT results deserves a medal! Everything crossed for you all x
