Congrats to both of you @aplo and @nearlyhomealone!! Hope they have a ball :)

Pinkstargazer12 · 07/05/2021 08:55

It was a no for my DD last night. She’s absolutely fine and really enjoyed the process. She wisely told me, ‘everything is a learning experience’. Smile A massive well done to all the successful
Children, they will have a wonderful summer and they certainly deserve it after all they have been through. A big thanks to @Biscuitsneeded for her unwavering advice and support. Also to @minimits - I’m still so delighted for your son. A great story of perseverance!

Mcmumager · 07/05/2021 09:19

Sorry for your daughter. I do think these kids are so resilient - definitely more so than us parents lol.

minimits · 07/05/2021 15:37

I’m sorry to hear that @Pinkstargazer12 but very impressed at her wise words! Thank you for your support too x

Biscuitsneeded · 07/05/2021 19:01

@Pinkstargazer12 your DD sounds brilliant. What a great attitude. Fingers crossed, next year they can all have a chance to show what they can do live, in a room with each other. And thanks for the thanks but not in any way needed - this is a fantastic thread (for which I am in no way responsible as it was @doesanybodyhaveamap who set it up) and we should use it as a general parents' waiting room and update on anything the DC do!

doesanybodyhaveamap · 07/05/2021 19:18

Yes, next thread I'm just going to call Stage Parents Waiting Room!

Peter Pan was due to be a 2020 production, a few have dropped out and a few have been added from this years auditions to take it back to it's full cast that had been capped at 30. Casting is 4th to 6th June, but this has slightly changed from the original details so there maybe some last minute changes,
Mcmumager · 10/05/2021 19:28

My children both enjoyed their BYMT experience yesterday. Back in the waiting room lol but pretty chilled this time! What will be will beSmile

Hi all. DD had an audition at the weekend so I'm back waiting to see if she gets a recall. I've been out of the loop a bit so thought I'd come back and see how everyone's doing Smile

Was it for BYMT? If yes I don’t think there is a recall- just a yes for a show, reserve for a show or an option to do one of the summer courses (which are open to all without auditions).

This was the first time auditioning for my kids so I might be wrong!

Good luck to your daughter.

chaperonemum · 11/05/2021 14:06

@Mcmumager no it wasn't for BYMT. She did that back in Feb I think but didn't get through (she knew she wouldn't as she didn't do well - her words) This was for a local one so I'll have to pull up a chair and sit on my own. We don't know any of the other DC's that auditioned.

Comefromaway · 11/05/2021 14:46

Still radio silence from the three MA colleges dd has applied to. Extended deadline for the one that has accepted her is this week!

doesanybodyhaveamap · 11/05/2021 15:18

@Comefromaway I think I'd have to do a bit of chasing and explain that she has another offer which she's at risk of losing.....

@chaperonemum hope the audition went well and you're not kept waiting too long!

@Mcmumager hooray to enjoying the audition. fingers crossed for good news soon!

I just booked tickets to Goblin Market. Am literally bursting with excitement to have booked tickets in an actual theatre to a show with my kid in. It's been sooooo long!!!!

Break a leg to her 👍

We are due to hear from nyt any day now. Very tough to get in. I hope dd is ok whatever happens. Result will be before her gcse practical which isn’t ideal timing.

Mcmumager · 11/05/2021 16:35

Do any BYMT experts have any guesses on how long they will take to respond? I’ve saw some comments about casting dates so I guess might hear either way soon although still a few auditions to go!

Biscuitsneeded · 11/05/2021 17:02

@doesanybodyhaveamap How exciting about the tickets!

@chaperonemum I'll join you in the waiting room. DS had an audition last weekend too, for a local thing, and is recalled. If life gets any more exciting I'm going to need a lie down - all too much after so long with nothing! Hope your DD gets news soon.

doesanybodyhaveamap · 12/05/2021 19:19

Any news @Newgirls ??

OP posts:
Newgirls · 13/05/2021 08:20

Aw thanks for asking!

It’s a no.

Apparently reduced numbers this year too so very tough. She seems ok and has a local production to focus on. It’s a reminder to me I think that it’s a tough business and even if you’ve done work before and get loads of distinctions etc doesn’t mean there are parts for you. She might have to create her own!

chaperonemum · 13/05/2021 08:49

Ahh sorry about that @Newgirls it's so tough. Hope she enjoys the local production

chaperonemum · 13/05/2021 08:52

@Biscuitsneeded we have a recall here too!! Super excited Smile. Do you know when you'll find out the outcome?

Comefromaway · 13/05/2021 09:00

Looks like there has been a cock up with UCAS whereas dd's audition fee to RCS was lost in the system. It's now been found but they hadn;t looked at her recordings because they thought she hadn't paid.

But as dd was in danger of losing the offer she has we accepted her place to study a Diploma leading into an MA in Musical Theatre Performance in London next year.

Beans on toast for us!

PS. It's transpired that dd is really good at the tech side of self tapes, she's helped all her college friends with their showreels. To get better sound they've been recording their performances on their phones but the vocals into a good mic. Dd then removes the sound from the phone video and adds it back from the recording syncing it up. She's going to be offering her services for a fee (to help fund her studies) so if anyone needs any assistance in this area or knows anyone who does. Let me know.

Also ds creates bespoke backing tracks including audition cuts. They can be piano only or full orchestral.

Biscuitsneeded · 13/05/2021 14:02

Sorry to hear that @newgirls. She did so well to get the recall though! @Chaperonemum, DS' recall for the local thing is this weekend so hoping to have news next week. What about you?

chaperonemum · 13/05/2021 14:12

@Biscuitsneeded same!!! Wouldn't it be funny if it was at the same placeGrin

Biscuitsneeded · 13/05/2021 18:27

@chaperonemum it would! Is it for a show with 2 words in the title by any chance?
