NYMT / BYMT 2021

Starting a new thread for NYMT / BYMT hopefuls in 2021.

DD13 is auditioning for NYMT for the second time as stage performer and as musician. We just received an invite to the next round (online workshops).

She was gutted that Covid put a stop to her show (Imaginary) last year so we are keeping everything crossed that she gets another shot.

We've also booked a BYMT audition and she's already in the musician pool there so hopefully a show of some sort this year if we get some kind of normality back again...

Anyone else out there?

update from NYMT HQ (I had to check that something hadn't gone wrong with DD's email....) is that some emails are still going out but everyone will have heard about stage auditions by the end of the day.

Haven't started contacting musicians yet, but will be doing so as soon as they can.

Thank-you. I havn't been checking (except for my daily check) as I had assumed musicians would not be yet but that has confirmed it for me.

Auditions are in two hour slots 10:30-6:30 both days of the weekend.

We’re Henrietta on 17th 2-4pm. Perhaps diff shows on diff days...?
Honestly can’t believe they’ll cast parts from this - without seeing the chdn... people will (sadly) lie about heights etc... i would guess they will perhaps decide on company then have a face to face workshop later....?? Have no real clue tho - completely new to nymt!!

Well done to those getting a yes now. We had a no on Friday. Out of the residential summer courses can anyone advise if NYMT or BYMT is better?

@Jamsanmum there will be recalls for all the shows throughout the weekend. It's different creatives for each show so they can happen simultaneously. I also thought it would be difficult for them to tell things like relative heights etc, so possibly you are right and they will select a company for each show and then maybe have a face-to-face as soon as allowed, to properly finalise the roles. Then again maybe they are determined to avoid any more uncertainty - I know from a wardrobe point of view they will be needing to know sooner rather than later!

My DD was trying to swap her recall time to fit around work so we defo know there are 3 recalls each day (Saturday and Sunday). I wonder how many in each?

We have had a mixed bag of results here. My DD heard on Friday that she didn’t get a recall as did one of my students. My older DS has a recall for hunchback and my younger for Henrietta and I have various students recalled for one or two of all three shows.

Haven't heard anything from BYMT yet- DD was one of the later sessions. Does anyone know if all offers have gone out yet?

@wonderfullife123 I believe BYMT have started sending out offers but still have a way to go....

Yes - if they leave it any longer they’ll have to make the costumes then choose a cast to fit them!!!
I just noticed that the lead in Henrietta is playing age of 9.... yet again height will be a huge determiner at this stage!

No explanation as to why we didn't get the no email when everyone else did.

To say I'm unimpressed is an understatement.

So sorry that’s really difficult. I’ve got a feeling we might be in the same boat. Not wanting to get an email now!
