NYMT / BYMT 2021

Starting a new thread for NYMT / BYMT hopefuls in 2021.

DD13 is auditioning for NYMT for the second time as stage performer and as musician. We just received an invite to the next round (online workshops).

She was gutted that Covid put a stop to her show (Imaginary) last year so we are keeping everything crossed that she gets another shot.

We've also booked a BYMT audition and she's already in the musician pool there so hopefully a show of some sort this year if we get some kind of normality back again...

Anyone else out there?

@wimdancer congratulations on the BYMT offer!! Great to hear they have started sending out offers now. What show has your DD been offered?

@Biscuitsneeded thanks- yes, thankfully timing definitely helped, removed the disappointment. Dread to think how she would have felt if they were both no's on the same day!

Great news for your DD @wimdancer do they tell you which show she has got? Out of interest when did she audition for bymt?

@chaperonemum . Thanks so much! Yes they did tell us which show- it's 'Dance Connections-6- the ministry of truth' to be in Cardiff. She auditioned 31 jan. I think they must be giving results out by show as my other daughter auditioned same day, same age group, but not heard back yet.

@Belshels Ds did Cautionary Tales with BYMT in Plymouth and it such a lovely place to explore! We loved the quayside and you can take a little boat over to the Aquarium and hopefully see seals on the way! Nice restaurants too. Cute theatre too!

@Belshels I think most of us have if people read back through the thread here! I wanted to post something earlier and had to stop as it would be completely outing!
For those still waiting for NYMT does anyone else think (hope) that maybe they’ve done the no’s and may now do yes’s after Easter? Does anyone have a yes yet for performer with them?
Well done to those who have yes’s from BYMT. Here’s hoping for more positives now!

I feel like NYMT have done the nos. I don't know that; it's just my feeling. However, what will come next (whenever it comes) will not a be a yes you've got a show (sadly) but yes you have a recall. The pain continues!!

I thought that was sort of matching performers to shows, but I’m so new to this I could be wrong... sounds like I am! (Looks round for the gin again!)

If they have got a recall they will be told for which show (s). They will get sent a link to a dropbox with songs to learn (a backing track and an audio version is usually provided if they can't read sheet music but it isn't always easy), some script to prepare - not learn - and sometimes a dance video although sometimes it is taught on the day. In normal times they would come to London and be recalled in smallish groups and audition for the specific creative team of the show in question. I imagine this year will be the same, but on Zoom...

@Alakazam8 not everyone recalled will get a show. So definitely more gin required!!
