NYMT / BYMT 2021

Starting a new thread for NYMT / BYMT hopefuls in 2021.

DD13 is auditioning for NYMT for the second time as stage performer and as musician. We just received an invite to the next round (online workshops).

She was gutted that Covid put a stop to her show (Imaginary) last year so we are keeping everything crossed that she gets another shot.

We've also booked a BYMT audition and she's already in the musician pool there so hopefully a show of some sort this year if we get some kind of normality back again...

Anyone else out there?

Still trying not to get hopes up though as it could just be that different people have different batches of emails to do...

We just got a no. My DD has taken it well. It is a shame but everyone is so talented. We were the second to last weekend of auditions, so they are nearly there with the no’s. Congratulations to those who get recalled. Xx

Sorry to hear of more nos. When you consider how many apply there will always be more nos than yeses but I know how tough it is (DS has been there many times for things, and no doubt will be again). All the kids should be congratulated for having the courage to put themselves out there and the resilience to deal with knockbacks. @thebabewiththepower please can I ask what date your DS' workshop was? A friend of mine is waiting for news and has none, but her DD's workshop was quite late so she doesn't know whether there could still be an email on its way.

@Mcmumager I think you could be getting good news, as my friends DS did first workshop and he got a no last night. Their surname starts with T

We got a no here too. DD is fine with it although she enjoyed the audition and thought everyone was lovely and would of course have loved to be involved.

We will have a look at the summer course after the results come through from BYMT. She's doubtful there she thinks it went pretty badly.

Sorry for everyone else who got a no and let's hope that no news is good news for everyone still waiting x

Sorry to hear of more no’s. We’re in the same boat as you @chaperonemum, need to wait for BYMT result before we can make any other plans.

I’ve just come on to see if anyone has news. We’d put it to the back of ours minds as we figured it might be mid April before we heard more.
So sorry to hear about the no’s. Especially for those who were cast last year.

We haven’t yet heard but DS is out and he never checks his emails! Now I feel all anxious agin!

I was blissfully unaware of any movement and now I’m refreshing emails constantly in case I’m attached to DS’s details from last year 😆

@Triflefan maybe. Of course I want them to have a weekend! But I also know how hard they work, mostly out of love for the organisation. Emails have come late at night many times before! However I'm inclined to think they will at least give themselves the night off now. Maybe there will be more news tomorrow.

Oh I wasn’t suggesting any impatience on anyone’s part. I expect they had a lot of latecomers and was just imagining how frantic they might be!

@Triflefan Yes, I know, no worries! And we should bear in mind they are also sorting out everything else for the summer as well as the casting currently - all with the extra dimension of not knowing what will and won't be allowed by then!

Was kind of hoping we’d had all the no’s by now too. I’m hoping no news is good news for dd.
I know of someone who has been told they’ve got a place in choir for hunchback (yesterday) so they’ve done some yes’s too!

Just seen that our no went into junk at 4.45 pm today. DD is so disappointed. Are all the nos invited to join the summer course in August? Good luck to those still waiting... think the longer there is silence the better.

DD got a no yesterday from NYMT but a yes from BYMT so their results are starting to come out too.
