I love walking breaks - so sad for your loss Sad

desertgirl · 24/09/2010 22:29

thanks loler Grin you are only a week off!

loler · 24/09/2010 22:31

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

sybilfaulty · 24/09/2010 22:55

DG, I told myself I would do 30 mins, but when I got there the Scissor Sisters had just started, so i figured I would have to get to the end of the track before I stopped.

So good to hear of all of us getting there in terms of weeks. I am going to do one last RRobert on Tuesday. I just want him to say, "way to go" one more time. Wish me luck.

desertgirl · 24/09/2010 23:02

good luck sybil :)

raffiiscool · 25/09/2010 14:38

I like the Carli podcast (think Pink, Christina, Rocky!) they are here running into shape.

I found kiss my black ass ones a bit gobby but that is me!

Did another parkrun today - in less than 29 minutes. I am really chuffed! Counch to 5k really works - could only run for 60 sec a few months ago.

kiwibella · 25/09/2010 19:25

I'm downloading Carli now Grin the tracks seem more familiar! But... the dialogue is exactly the same as Rawberts???

I haven't been out at all again this week... kids and hubs seem to conspire against me (ok, really I don't insist that I need my time to run). It's amazing to see you all progress and fly past.

raffiiscool · 25/09/2010 19:43

Should just say, I did Robert up to the end of week 6 and then found it a bit uninspiring once you had no more breaks. Lots of my friends loved it and used it all the way - i guess we are all different.

I felt very disloyal to Robert changing, but I feel that it give me more of a spring (singing along to the tracks and knowing most of them helped!) especially as it was now solid running.

kiwibella · 25/09/2010 21:10

raffi... tell me what do you do about the three runs in each week? I noticed the link to cool runnings on that website and had a peek at the programme which seems to increase the running in stages. Up until now I have used Rawbert and just run it three or five times Grin each week or two Grin. I know others are doing this as well. Does anyone do the progressive runs in a week as suggested by coolrunnings and, if so, how?

desertgirl · 25/09/2010 21:34

Rawbert will start telling you to increase in stages when the coolrunning programme does - all the "c25k" programmes are based on the same thing as far as I can tell. First 4 weeks - same thing 3 times. Weeks 5 and 6 - 3 different runs. Weeks 7-9 - same thing 3 times.

kiwibella · 26/09/2010 10:04

I much prefer Carli's selection of tunes!! Ran week 4 this morning and almost completed the second five minute run. Not bad since I haven't run for a week. I'm going to try week 5 tomorrow... dd at pre-school so no excuses Grin.

nobiggy · 26/09/2010 17:12

Failed to get out for a run this morning - dp got up with the DDs, so I thought, if a lie in looks a possibility why spoil it Grin

I'll try and get out tomorrow during pre-school.

Are anybody else's weeks about 10 days long? Can't seem to fit three runs into 7 days!

desertgirl · 26/09/2010 18:49

Kiwi, I'm sure Carli will make you run 3 different runs in weeks 5 and 6 too - including those nasty long ones :o

nobiggy yes my weeks definitely tend to overrun... I can only exercise in the evenings, and have been trying to go to the gym a couple of times as well so 3 runs in a week is fairly optimistic.

Just did w6r3 though which is 25 MINUTES; ran 3.75K and can't believe I actually managed it, didn't walk at all!! there must be something to this c25k programme after all...

sybilfaulty · 26/09/2010 19:08

What are you wearing to run in the colder weather? I have a long sleeved jacket thing -will that do?> Am worried about wind and rain as I fear I may be a bit flaky. It's easier in the summer when it's now blowing a gale and pissing down.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

kiwibella · 26/09/2010 20:06

sybil - I wondered the same thing this morning. I wore dd's thermals under my t-shirt this morning but I was very cosy! I found the cold air difficult as well.

I wondered if there would be different podcasts desertgirl? I'll find out tomorrow Wink. Huge congrats on running for 25 minutes!!!

desertgirl · 26/09/2010 20:39

I liked the weather this evening. Apparently it was 31 C as I was driving home after running :) might manage to run without clutching my bottle of water before long!

wrap up warm all of you cold people

raffiiscool · 27/09/2010 08:18

My sister is a big runner and she said that you need to get gloves - that is the key to cold weather. Wouldn't really have thought of that.

When I did the parkrun on Saturday is was 4 degrees on my car at the start - my nose was really cold! I am up north though! I'm going to get a thin long sleeved top and wear it under my T and may a gilet style jacket. They are pretty cheap in Sports direct at the moment

nobiggy · 27/09/2010 20:16

Week 8, 28 minutes, 1.9 miles.

desertgirl · 27/09/2010 21:22

coool, nobiggy; you're almost there! what are you going to do when you finish the programme? (or should that be graduate?)

nobiggy · 28/09/2010 21:55

Well, there's a question. I may do a few weeks of 30 minutes just to keep my hand in, I may investigate the programme to take it to 10k. Not that I'm desperate to run 10k, but I imagine it would make 5k easier, having the capability to do more, and obviously I'm not at 5k yet having done C25K.

I'm going to try to get into the Moonwalk tomorrow, so I'll have to get in a bit of power walking practice before then (but that's a way off), and the potential spanner in the works, I'm seeing a chiropodist on Friday who may do a little light surgery Grin

kiwibella · 28/09/2010 23:26

good luck with your entry in the morning nobiggy Grin.

sybilfaulty · 29/09/2010 14:31

COr, nobiggy, you are doing brilliantly! Well done on nearly finishing. I am going to concentrate on just keeping up the running and perhaps being faster than my current 13 min miles, so respect if you can progress to 10K. Hope you got in to attempt the moonwalk. I did it a few years back and it was FAB.

How is everyone else doing?

nobiggy · 30/09/2010 12:37

Thanks Sybil, very strange thing, went out this morning (thinking I won't be able to run for at least a few days after the chiropodist has a go tomorrow), felt really slow, you know when you feel as if you're scarcely moving forwards?

After 29 minutes I'd gone 2 miles, it was my fastest run since the 3 x 5 minutes back last month Shock

So I'm pleased with that!

Has anyone else noticed that in week 8 when Rahbert says you've done 28 minutes you've actually only done 27? Or has everyone else ditched the 43 year old guy?

I got the Moonwalk entry in, should have confirmation by Monday. And I want a wrist GPS for Christmas Grin

loler · 30/09/2010 13:17

Well done nobiggy and good luck with the feet. I use the app from sports-tracker.com on my (not very flash nokia) mobile - it tracks you and gives steps per min/calories used/does the route on a map. It was free to down load - has motivated me loads. My only issue was where to stick mobile as have no pockets - it goes in my bra at the moment - better ideas would be welcome!

loler · 30/09/2010 13:22

Also want to add my winter hates - the cold seems to make my eyes/nose run, always forget tissues. I guess if wearing gloves could have a double use! Tried my first run in the dark - like to have the dog with me, I ended up dragging her most of the way as s kept stopping to smell things! My normal run along the canal is very flat so the addition of a hill was a shocker! Coming home was a treat though (all downhill).

As someone else said - the cold air is going to take some getting used to.

I'm on work lunch - just ablout to go and do the dreaded week 5.3 20 mins.......I may be some time!
