Little cardio workout (15 mins)

Fine, I'm happy to say.

My coach was very happy that my back had been taped - he reckons that it really helps?

Anyway, it was 6 minutes running, 9 running, 9 running, 6 running, with 3 minutes walking in between and 5 minute cool down - warm up at beginning and stretches both ends. Including a few steps to the car and walking from the car to the track, I covered over 5k, but I don't have a more precise measurement.

Wish I'd been able to do the 25 minutes homework, but pleased I managed today's session. No running until Park Run on Saturday, though suspect I might have to walk some of it...

45 minutes Senior Flex - cardio, stretches, squats, upper body work with 3.7 kg weights, abdominal work - some of it with 7kg weight.

Tired, achey thighs tonight - but it's good achey if you know what I mean. 112

I'm a bit peeved...A friend who keeps 'forgetting' things - both from me and for other friends texted me about looking forward to something 'this weekend'.

I texted back to ask her to clarify that it's this Sunday; she texted back to say that she'll confirm the day when she knows...

I already told her two weeks ago that I have Park Run this Saturday. If she thinks I'm cancelling Park Run, she can have another think...

I've realised that said friend has a habit of changing arrangements and claiming that they haven't been changed. (Not just with me, but with others.)

Not. Happening. This. Time.

stilldumdedumming · 15/07/2026 22:37

@WearyAuldWumman great news! Walking is completely fine and also, luckily, park run isn’t a one off, so you can aim for a continuous run another time. I suspect you will surprise yourself xx

Thank you, @stilldumdedumming. I genuinely thought that I'd never be able to run again. It turns out that the problem was inactivity...Who'd've thunk it?

The coach and the other club members have been so supportive...and I'm actually enjoying myself.

Comtesse · 16/07/2026 00:25

@stilldumdedumming full on work there!
@WearyAuldWumman aww yeahhhh keep on trucking, you’ve made epic progress!
@MummyInTheNecropolis steptastic results there…

I did day 3 on the yogalates 30 day challenge I’m trying, plus quick leg workout and some wall sits (21 mins in total). Keep on keeping on….

Hi all!

just found this thread and would love to join you as I’m starting to work on my exercise and fitness and would love to learn more about looking after my body in menopause’s

I’ve had a really active week for the first time j my life!

Started swimming and cycling recently so enjoying those and have joined a gym and am actually going rather than just giving them all my money! DH has joined too and I have a friend that goes so I have someone to go with and am also enjoying going alone.

today

  • dance aerobics class - was amazing and had me dripping in sweat with a huge smile on my face ❤️
  • 15 min incline walk on treadmill
  • 15 mins of strength training on weights machines
I already feel better from increased activity in the last couple of weeks, despite the heat and really hope I can continue being active and trying new things
WearyAuldWumman · 16/07/2026 19:58

No real exercise today.

Cut the tall/long side boundary hedge today - it's 6ft in places - and my arms and shoulders are a bit sore, probably because of all the arm work yesterday: I forgot to note that I had done 3 sets of 20 hammer curls with 7.5kg weights yesterday as well as those arm exercises in Senior Flex.

Fell asleep in the armchair!

FurForksSake · 16/07/2026 20:34

I have been mia for ages! But! I did some exercise today, back at hydro.

i have pots and fibromyalgia and been in a really long flare. The pots is still bad and I need to look into some cardiac rehab exercise.

Welcome @minnymoobearI am also
a swimmer.
@FurForksSakewelcome back! All power to your healing!

Today I did just 50x25m swim but I am trying to build up my breaststroke and lengthen my front crawl. I was pretty pleased.
Then a tough day at the desk followed by medium hard Pilates.

minnymoobear · 17/07/2026 00:23

Love how you say ‘just did 60 x 25m’ @stilldumdedumming / I’m a very basic swimmer and nearly kill myself doing 20 x 25m!
booked a swimming lesson with the coach at the pool to get some help with technique so can make the most of it instead of struggling for the rest of my life!
I was in 2 minds about going to a stretch class tomorrow as had a painful dentist appt today, but will try my best to go to the morning stretch class and get some movement in and hopefully get out for a bike ride later- back on after around 40 years and trying to make the most of it this summer

Comtesse · 17/07/2026 11:55

Hello @minnymoobear ! Nice to hear from you @FurForksSake still pushing on…

Yesterday I did yogalates plus some freestyle yoga, not exactly pushing the envelope but it keeps the streak alive.

FurForksSake · 17/07/2026 17:03

I’m having a lazy day, but will go and water the allotment. Tomorrow I’m going to clear out around the exercise bike as I want to start a pattern of using it early before work.

Just back from gym - did a fully body strength workout, 5 mins on rower and a 15min Treadmill incline walk - that incline was tough, but social media tells me it’s great for fat loss so let’s see!

was planning to go swimming after workout but the pool was fully of kids and families so will go tomorrow instead.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 17/07/2026 20:16

5.5k walk
Bounce class (cardio on a mini trampoline) 45 mins
Lots more walking

28,200 steps

stilldumdedumming · 17/07/2026 20:22

60x25m swim was pretty hectic in the pool but I needed to slowdown down I got my wish!
Followed by lower body glutes and gams class which I loved!

stilldumdedumming · 17/07/2026 20:27

@minnymoobearI think the thing with swimming, more than a lot of other fitness stuff, is that a lot of it is technique. I swam nearly every day as a kid! So if you’re not as strong a swimmer, you’re actually working really hard. (Is my theory). Having said that, it’s a great idea to get some lessons.

WearyAuldWumman · 17/07/2026 22:29

Guess which idiot stubbed her toe(s) on the side of the bath as she got into the shower after getting home from the gym today?

I thought I'd got off with it because it's not as sore as when I first did it, but I'm just in from an evening with my cousin and have had a look at my foot again, trying to ascertain which toe(s) I actually hit.

On the plus side, it's only one toe that's visibly bruised and I didn't fall. Also, it's not the big toe. It's currently a beautiful shade of purple, although the nail bed is clear.

I've taken ibuprofen and have slathered arnica on it. The wee toe next to it feels a bit sore too, but isn't bruised as yet.

Well, that's going to do wonders for my already slow time tomorrow. Grrr.

stilldumdedumming · 18/07/2026 09:49

@WearyAuldWummanslow miles are better than no miles (tho you might want to consider resting it).

I had easy peasy Pilates today. Nice!

Brilliant @WearyAuldWumman well done!

WearyAuldWumman · 18/07/2026 16:40

This afternoon, I ordered out for lunch - mince and tatties - and have just woken up from a sleep in the armchair...

stilldumdedumming · 18/07/2026 18:22

Well earned! 💪

minnymoobear · 18/07/2026 20:29

Thanks @stilldumdedumming and you’re totally right! InsructoR picked up a couple of simple technique related things that he corrected and will hoepfully make a difference going for Wes. Another lesson next week to work on breathing techniques

ended up having a lazy activity day today so calling it my rest day - think i need it tbh! did a lot of driving today and too tired to walk now - on a yoga ball and will do some leg exercises but think that’s it for today

5500 steps today but no heart raising exercises
