Yesterday, I tried just walking in Riverside Park where our Park Run is going to be, just to get a sense of the slopes. As is usual for me, downhill was more challenging than uphill. Shall just have to take my time. I'd like to be able to run the 5k, but I don't think that's realistic for me - it's probably going to be run-walk-run all the way.
Run Club was cancelled today because of the weather - a thunderstorm. I only read the notification that the club was cancelled just as I was heading out the door. In order to cope with the weather, I'd decided to be brave and wear my 6 inch shorts with my knee braces, my thinking being that they'd be more comfortable in the rain than leggings and easier to change out of for Senior Flex.
In my head, I was Lara Croft. In reality, I was more of an elderly Pansy Potter...
I did try to do the workout on a treadmill, but only managed two three minute runs: I just felt a bit unsafe compared to being on a hard surface. Managed some of the running with the requisite arm movements, but had to keep hanging onto the sides. I know it's psychological.
I used to have a lot of falls when I was a kid ( no orthotics, you see, and the built-up shoes made me go over on my ankles).
I'm actually more stable than I've been my life. Just need to think more positively.
Did do my dynamic stretches beforehand and my arm position exercises with 6 kg weights.
Had the usual 45 minute Senior Flex class using 3.7kg weights. Moved up to 7.5 kg weights for the low row.
Forgot to put down my count last time, so that was 102. Today: 103.
